Reborn as an Extra Chapter 631: The Future Divine Spirit King Will Be... Part-1.

"Granny Nova, please spare us! We promise not to do it again!"
"That is right! I swear I won't repeat my mistakes!"
After a few minutes of utter disorder, Nova managed to apprehend the two dim-witted twins, suspended them upside down from a nearby pillar, and struck them three times with her staff!
"I distinctly warned you troublemakers not to stray beyond the protection of the barrier! Yet, you disobeyed again! Look at the consequences!"
Nova was furious that so many of those youngsters had ventured out without authorization, meeting their ends as a result.
Even amidst her rage, it was truly heart-rending that so many young fairies she personally knew had perished in a single day.
"We just had bad luck and ran into a terrifying demon--"
Nova refused to entertain their excuses; she silenced them, focusing solely on the discipline she was delivering.
"Remain hanging there until dusk as your punishment!"
Lyria and Miria shot pleading glances at Lia, silently begging for intervention, but Lia found herself unable to act, lacking the authority to interfere when an Elder was correcting youth.
"Um... is this manner of punishment truly necessary? I mean... do fairies not cherish their freedom and lack of restrictions?"
"To bind them in such a way is surely more cruel than ending their lives, right?"
Fairies truly stood apart from every other creature in existence.
They lacked any notion of family or burdens; their social lives amounted to brief, sporadic interactions with others.
Most of their existence was dedicated to wandering and savoring their absolute liberty.
For these beings, who thrived on curiosity and exploration, being shackled to a spot felt like profound agony.
"That is precisely why this punishment is necessary! These two brats must grasp the repercussions of their behavior so they refrain from such recklessness in the future!"
"Demons and predatory humans roam beyond the barrier, constantly seeking us fragile entities! These two have yet to even comprehend the gruesome deaths of their companions..."
In the intervening moments, Nova had not only secured them but questioned them about their time missing.
Nova pressed her fingers against her temples as she continued.
"Sigh... they are far too young to grasp such gravity... but as they age... they will surely mourn for failing to feel anything for their fallen peers today..."
Lia felt thoroughly bewildered by this statement, but before she could inquire, Kai offered an explanation.
[As I mentioned previously, fairies lack a standard concept of age... they emerge into this world as adults, but that nature carries severe flaws.]
[Newly birthed fairies possess adult forms, yet their minds remain in a juvenile, immature state, incapable of interpreting the world in its entirety... these twins are clearly 'children' by fairy definitions.]
[They lack the capacity to process the concept of 'death,' and up to this moment, they haven't realized that their friends were slaughtered by that demon and are gone forever.]
Just as a young, naive human child fails to grasp the severity of a disaster unfolding before them, these small fairies were similarly limited.
They merely registered that a demon had assaulted them and that they needed to survive, lacking the sophistication to analyze the broader tragedy.
[Only through long lifespans and vast experiences do fairies develop the wisdom and composure displayed by one such as Nova.]
'I see... no wonder they were giggling and carefree throughout the journey here...'
'I assumed it was just the standard fairy nature... I had no idea they were blissfully ignorant of the reality of their actions.'
Lyria and Miria weren't merely airheads; they were children driven by mischief with no guardians to guide them.
Unlike humans, fairies lack parents to supervise them, and since their kind rarely interacts with one another, the newly born are inherently vulnerable!
Nova's stern reprimand was purely for their own protection!
"Setting those two fools aside... you... what exactly are you? You bear the signature of a human, yet you possess wings matching a Royal Fairy..."
"Wait... that cat... could it be you, Divine General Kai? Why are you in such a state? What has happened?"
A profound expression of astonishment washed over Nova's features upon noticing Kai, who sat indolently upon Lia’s shoulder in his silver feline form.
"Err... I had a hunch I had encountered this fairy before... It seems she recognizes me after all..."
As he spoke, Kai scratched his face with a paw, displaying the awkwardness of someone caught red-handed.
"You are familiar with Kai? He is my summoned spirit beast..."
"As for myself, I am Lia Silver, a human. These wings are a manifestation of the spirit powers I attained through Kai..."
Upon hearing Lia, Nova and the young girl, Bela—who had remained hushed on the bench—registered shock in equal measure.
While Nova’s alarm stemmed from Kai’s presence, the realization that Lia was human shattered young Bela’s composure.
Upon hearing the word 'human,' she instantly scrambled beneath the bench to hide.
"A human... no... no... they will... they will capture me... no... I have done nothing wrong... no..."
Nova fixated on Kai, her voice dripping with surprise.
"To think that the most formidable Divine General would choose a human to serve as their master... this is truly stupefying..."
Kai responded to Nova with a helpless shrug.
"Circumstances shifted... a certain someone convinced me to alter my perspective... The present me has resolved to support this child and elevate her to become the next 'Divine Spirit King' of this realm!"
At the mention of 'Divine Spirit King,' Lia felt an inexplicable resonance deep within her soul.
Though this was the first time she had heard such a title, she found it oddly compelling.
