Reborn as an Extra Chapter 534: The Three Legendary Swords. Part-2.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
"Astra also wielded the ’Sword of Salvation’ for a period back then... however, she vanished alongside King Allen following the thousand-year Demon extinction war..."
Since Kehrid can only be viewed as a partial creator of these blades, he possesses no means of knowing their eventual destinations or where they might wander in the days to come.
He forged them, leaving everything else to be determined by the hands of fate.
"The third and final blade I fashioned was ’The Sword of Cosmic Order, Raksha’..."
Kehrid let out a weary sigh and spoke with a hint of irritation while discussing that particular weapon.
"My three swords are all fundamentally unique. Vinash possesses the smallest shard of consciousness; it isn't selective about its wielder, allowing anyone to grasp it while destroying its user regardless of their identity..."
"Astra is semi-self-conscious; it is quite fastidious regarding its users, yet it ensures no harm comes to them."
"The third sword, ’Raksha,’ is entirely different; it is fully aware of its own existence, possesses high intelligence, and refuses to select a master. It views itself as a true living entity and permits no one to claim ownership over it..."
Kehrid grew nostalgic reminiscing about his history, and the young Kifrid actually drifted off to sleep while listening to these lengthy, detailed chronicles.
Because the room was so cozy and warm, and Kifrid found the historical talk uninteresting, he fell asleep with his head resting on Rio’s lap.
Stroking the child's head with his hand, Rio inquired,
"So, in what manner did King Allen utilize that ’sword’?"
Kehrid instantly shook his head in response to the query.
"King Allen was unable to wield ’Raksha’ as a mere weapon; he treated it as a ’friend,’ and ’Raksha’ aided him of its own volition during his conflicts..."
"The ’Law’ of ’Cosmic Order’ had taken form within that blade; it held the power to bend ’reality’ and the ’world’ itself according to its desires!"
"It was capable of warping the very fabric of space-time... Even I am unaware of the full scope of its capabilities, as it never permitted anyone to truly master it or displayed its genuine power to a soul..."
"Not even King Allen ever managed to utilize it to its maximum potential..."
Kehrid sighed, his voice tinged with a depressed tone.
"I am uncertain of what transpired between them, but ’Raksha’ eventually departed from King Allen’s side..."
"It was still with him when King Allen left this world for his travels, yet one day it drifted back to me solitary..."
"It informed me that it no longer wished to inhabit the same ’universe’ as ’Allen’ and expressed great anger toward him..."
Kehrid finished a large amount of beer in a single gulp before going on.
"That was the last time I saw that weapon... It is incredibly clever, and finding it would be nearly impossible if it chooses to remain hidden..."
"It might have truly departed from our ’Universe’ altogether..."
Rio could do nothing but sigh and shake his head upon hearing this.
Numerous studies and scientists suggest that dungeons manifest because foreign ’universes’ are crashing into this one.
Thus, it is possible that ’Raksha’ managed to distort the fabric of ’Reality’ to escape into a different ’Universe’ during such a collision of ’worlds.’
Under these circumstances, locating it would be an impossible task, and Rio might never have the chance to use it himself.
’Never mind, I have a preference for my loyal and cute sword ’Vinash’ over those other two...’
Rio shook his head, dismissing further thoughts on the topic.
His sword intent was so formidable that he could inflict devastating damage even with a common stick; he didn't strictly require powerful swords or artifacts.
The primary reason Rio employs ’Vinash’ is due to its ’soul-splitting’ ability.
’Wait... if the ’law’ of ’absolute destruction’ is manifested in this blade, then surely ’soul-splitting’ isn't its only capability?’
’Could I perhaps use it to tear through ’reality’ and the fabric of space and time in the future?’
The moment Rio considered this, he sensed his bond with his sword strengthen slightly.
’Oh, so you agree with me. How adorable...’
"By the way, I went through my father’s diary, and it mentions that when he stole ’Vinash’ from the demon king’s treasury, there was a tablet nearby inscribed with a prophecy..."
"Are you familiar with this prophecy at all?"
Rio had actually learned of the prophecy from Irvin, but since he didn't want to mention his name to Kehrid, he fabricated the excuse about his father’s diary.
"Hmm? What? I never fashioned anything of that sort..."
Kehrid appeared equally baffled by the mention of the prophecy; it seemed he had never heard of it either.
"The Great Furnace of Cyria... ah, a thousand years have passed since I last heard that name!"
Kehrid smiled as he explained,
"Based on the ancient dwarven history I know, our race once inhabited a planet titled ’Cyria 229.’ That was an era when ’mana’ and ’miasma’ did not exist in our universe..."
"My knowledge of that age is limited, but I know of the Great Furnace of Cyria... It was a formidable furnace and a masterpiece of engineering. Its primary power source was a ’Black Hole’!!"
While speaking of the furnace, Kehrid’s voice was filled with pride and certainty.
"I was the final master smith granted the opportunity to operate it. Legend says this furnace drifted to this planet alongside us dwarves in ancient times when mana first arrived in this world..."
"I utilized that mighty furnace to forge the ’three legendary swords’! Only an artifact of such caliber could have established a foundation strong enough for the ’laws’ of the ’world’ to settle upon them..."
Kehrid sighed and shook his head as he continued his story.
"Regrettably, that engineering marvel, that great furnace, was destroyed after assisting in the creation of those three legendary blades..."
"Forging three such potent weapons placed an unbearable burden on it, and it ceased to function afterward..."
"I actually operated it on a distant planet, and that entire world shattered along with the furnace..."
Operating a furnace of that magnitude on this planet would have been impossible; therefore, King Allen assisted in relocating it to a remote solar system on a desolate planet.
This ensured that when the furnace broke apart, the earth remained safe; otherwise, the furnace’s destruction would have obliterated it had it occurred on earth.
"Even now, we have been unable to recreate the technology of that device, and it’s probable that no new legendary sword will ever be forged unless a new ’Chosen One’ requires them..."
"Furthermore... there is one other sword in existence that is regarded as immensely powerful..."
Kehrid narrowed his eyes, his voice becoming grave.
"I am unaware of its creator or if it truly exists, but rumors suggest it is a very formidable weapon. I haven't seen it with my own eyes, though..."
"It is known as the ’Sword of Promised Destinies’!"
