Ming Wei agrees to return home after her father, Luo Yanqing, explains the situation and her mother's worries. Meanwhile, Feng Lu and Kang Li exchange heated words, with Luo Yanqing intervening to warn Feng Lu. Later, Ming Wei convinces her brother, Ming Han, to let her return home as well, revealing in her thoughts that she made a sacrifice to ensure Feng Lu wouldn't expose their family's secrets to him. Finally, Kang Li plans to accompany Vivi to retrieve her belongings from her mother's place.

Min Rui and Ming Han exited the vehicle, Min Rui’s attention fixated on the driver’s seat. "Dad, please drive safely."

"Mm."

Luo Yanqing offered a slight nod before engaging the car and departing shortly thereafter.

"Let’s discuss this."

Upon entering the courtyard, Min Rui directed a look toward Ming Han. "In detail."

"There truly isn’t much to recount..."

Without omitting any details, Ming Han recounted the entirety of his and Ming Wei’s experiences at school. He concluded by saying, "I believe she has truly awakened this time and won't resort to foolishness again."

"She grabbed your ears and then insisted Vivi apologize to her stepdaughter?"

A touch of disbelief crossed Min Rui’s face. In his estimation, regardless of the circumstances, that woman should not have impulsively laid hands on Ming Han and Ming Wei, nor should she have demanded an apology from Ming Wei when the latter was in the right.

"Brother, I am not deceiving you; the events unfolded exactly as I have described." Why was he met with disbelief? Did his brother think he enjoyed fabricating stories? That simply wasn't the case; he prided himself on his honesty!

Min Rui: "It's not that I doubt your word, I simply find her actions perplexing." It goes without saying that the "she" Min Rui referred to was his biological mother, Feng Lu.

"Initially, I was also bewildered, but the reason became clear on my way back to the classroom." His demeanor darkened slightly, and Ming Han's gaze adopted a mocking tone. "She is attempting to curry favor with her stepdaughter, shamelessly disregarding me and Vivi in her pursuit of that goal."

Upon hearing this, Min Rui paused for a moment before stating, "In the future, you and Vivi must maintain a distance from this Han Qian."

Ming Han: "I have no interest in engaging with a disingenuous individual."

Min Rui: "Disingenuous? Are you suggesting that the classmate named Han Qian is adept at deception?" Although he posed the question, Min Rui already suspected the answer.

"You truly are my elder brother, Luo Minghan; your perception is remarkably keen!"

Snapping his fingers, Ming Han presented Min Rui with a look of admiration, remarking casually, "She consistently feigns weakness and kindness in class, yet privately engages in ambiguous conversations with peers, fostering unnecessary misunderstandings. Subsequently, she intervenes as a mediator, thereby enhancing her own image."

...

The Han family’s modest villa.

"Uninvited, what is your intention?" Feng Lu’s expression soured as she observed Kang Li entering the living room, carrying Vivi’s textbooks, shortly after she and Han Qian had returned home in their private car.

"Does Lady Feng not know?"

Kang Li uttered a placid statement before addressing Vivi, "Go upstairs and pack your belongings. Once finished, summon your mother, and I will assist you in carrying them down."

"I will be swift."

With that, Vivi hurried up to the second floor.

"Luo Mingwei!" Enraged by Vivi’s swift departure, Feng Lu glared, but to no avail, as Vivi had already disappeared around the corner of the upstairs staircase.

Han Qian, who had been seated at the dining table, paused her meal. She turned her gaze towards Kang Li and, after a brief moment, rose to greet her. "Aunt Kang, you haven’t had lunch yet, have you? Why not join us at my home?"

"Thank you, but I must decline." Meeting Han Qian’s eyes, Kang Li’s lips curved into a subtle smile. "Classmate Han, though I am an outsider, there is something I feel compelled to convey to you."

Han Qian delicately bit her lip, adopting an air of subtle grievance, and responded softly, "Aunt Kang, please proceed. I am listening attentively."

"Very well, I shall speak plainly..."

Kang Li proceeded as though she had not perceived the shift in Han Qian’s expression. "One need not hold affection for another, but at the very least, they must be afforded appropriate respect, for such conduct reflects one’s upbringing.

Furthermore, it is advisable to refrain from making ambiguous statements; whether intended or not, such remarks invariably cause distress to others..."

To Feng Lu’s surprise, she remained silent, allowing Kang Li to address Han Qian directly. However, she had not anticipated Kang Li bringing her into the conversation.

"Consider, for instance, your apparent dislike for Lady Feng. Because your father lacks authority over her, you have chosen to direct your animosity toward my Vivi at school."

"Aunt Kang, I..."

Tears welled in her eyes, and Han Qian appeared on the verge of weeping. "I truly did not intend any harm this afternoon."

"Classmate Han, I merely stated that regardless of intent, the ambiguous remarks you made ultimately caused distress to my Vivi, leading her to resort to striking you. While it was certainly wrong for my Vivi to strike you, she was defending Feng Lu’s reputation. After all, neither you nor I can dispute that Feng Lu is Vivi’s biological mother.

As her daughter, even in the absence of an emotional bond with her birth mother, it is difficult not to react when one hears their mother’s reputation being tarnished."
