Rebirth Space Pretty Girl Chapter 3027: Mo Zhengqi

With the masked leader's taunts still lingering, Murong Lingran faced an unexpected attack from a child sent by her enemies, who had been blackmailed into the attempt. Just as tensions escalated, she revealed the impenetrable soft gold armor protecting her, shocking her assailants. The realization that their plans had unraveled left the masked leader in despair, while Murong prepared to take control of the situation, determined not to let her guard down. Accusations and desperate plea echoed in the air as the confrontation intensified, setting the stage for the impending conflict.

A collective sigh of relief escaped from Stone and the other nine children simultaneously.

Turning her attention back to the captive masked man, Murong Lingran demanded, "Speak. Who is the mastermind that sent you here?"

"I won't reveal a single word even if it costs me my life," the man spat back. "You might as well give up on that idea."

"Refusing to talk? Then allow me to take a guess," Murong Lingran countered calmly. "The only enemies I've truly made are within Duke Huai's household. The Duke himself harbors deep resentment toward me and has constantly schemed to prevent me from ascending as Queen. However, as a Duke, his every move is under constant surveillance. Since Mo Zhengxin and Mo Xueyun have already faced their punishments, it is my belief that the one seeking my life is most likely Mo Zhengqi."

The masked man’s pupils contracted sharply, though he quickly forced his expression back to a mask of indifference.

Observing his reaction, Murong Lingran smiled. "It appears my intuition was correct."

"It isn't Mo Zhengqi," the masked man insisted. "Your guess is entirely wrong."

"I don't believe you," Murong Lingran replied dismissively. "His Majesty has likely deduced his involvement as well. I expect he has already dispatched men to take him into custody."

Just as she finished speaking, the rhythmic thud of approaching hoofbeats echoed from the distance.

The masked man grew visibly anxious. Was it possible that Murong Lingran’s reinforcements had already arrived?

Indeed, it wasn't long before Zeyu led a group of men directly to Murong Lingran’s side.

Looking down at the black-clad figure sprawled on the earth, Zeyu asked with deep respect, "County Master, these people..."

"They have been paralyzed by a poison crafted by my father. Currently, they are unable to move a muscle. Without the specific antidote, the effects will take three full days to wear off."

"I see." Zeyu ordered his men to bind the captives securely before turning back to her. "Is the County Master unharmed?"

"I am fine."

Zeyu felt a wave of relief. Noticing the child being held by Shitou and the others, he inquired, "What is the situation with that boy?"

Murong Lingran briefly explained the child’s earlier actions and involvement.

Zeyu nodded solemnly. "If that is the case, please allow your subordinate to handle this matter."

"If his parents truly were kidnapped to force his hand, then he should be treated with leniency," Murong Lingran instructed.

"As you command, County Master."

After arranging for Zeyu to escort Shitou and the other children safely back to Lihua Village, Murong Lingran made her way back to the Marquis of Ning’an’s estate as quickly as possible.

Both Helian Rongjiu and the inhabitants of the Marquis’s manor felt a heavy weight lift from their hearts upon seeing her return unscathed.

Murong Zhe beamed with pride and relief. "Aran is truly protected by the heavens; her luck is truly extraordinary."

"It was a combination of luck, Ninth Brother’s soft golden armor, and the poison you gave me, Dad," Murong Lingran admitted with a smile.

The two men laughed in unison. "As long as you are safe, that is all that matters."

Murong Lingran then shared her suspicions regarding Mo Zhengqi being the culprit.

Helian Rongjiu nodded. "It is indeed him. Following your departure, I placed all court officials under secret surveillance. Today, there was suspicious activity specifically involving Duke Huai's residence. After my agents infiltrated the premises and overheard Mo Zhengqi’s own admissions, I ordered his immediate arrest. By now, he should be languishing in the imperial prison."

"Ninth Brother is truly brilliant," Murong Lingran praised with a grin.

Helian Rongjiu let out a soft laugh in response.

The efficiency of the Xuanwu Guards was formidable; by the following day, they had extracted a full confession during the interrogation.

Mo Zhengqi’s motive for the assassination attempt was straightforward. He sought vengeance against Murong Lingran for the downfall of his elder brother and sister.

Ultimately, his youth and arrogance were his undoing. He had naively believed that luring Murong Lingran to a secluded cave alone would be a foolproof plan, yet he had walked straight into his own trap.

Despite his claims that his actions were independent of Duke Huai, Helian Rongjiu remained skeptical of the Duke's innocence.

Attempting to murder the future Queen was a capital offense. Following a consultation with his ministers, Helian Rongjiu sentenced Mo Zhengqi to perpetual exile. He was banished to the distant Saiyuan Prefecture, forbidden from ever stepping foot in the capital again.
