Rebirth Space Pretty Girl Chapter 3: can leave
Previously on Rebirth Space Pretty Girl...
Mr. Gao was caught off guard by Murong Zhe’s bluntness. Guilt flickered in his eyes for a moment, but he quickly found his nerve. Straightening his posture, he barked, "When I demanded that money, I had no clue you were disappearing for two days. I didn't know you’d just abandon your daughter here. Now that you've returned, just pack up and get out!"
Murong Zhe’s brow furrowed deeply. "We have a written agreement for this rental," he countered. "It has only been twenty days, and the payment for next month has already been settled. There is no logic in the world that allows you to throw us out like this!"
"So what if there’s paperwork? This house belongs to me. If I want you gone, you leave whenever I say so!" Gao declared with an air of arrogance.
"You—!"
"Father..."
Murong Zhe was about to argue further when a soft, frail voice reached his ears.
Looking down at the girl cradled in his arms, Murong Kuan shouted in amazement, "Father, look! Sister is awake!"
"Aran, Aran, you’re finally awake?" Murong Zhe cried out, his voice thick with emotion. He thanked the Heavens that he hadn't lost hope.
Murong Lingran gave a weak nod. "Father, let’s just go... I... don’t want... to stay in her house anymore."
She might have been helpless while unconscious, but now that she had regained her senses, she refused to rely on such people. After witnessing the scene just now, she felt nothing but pure disgust for the Gao Clan.
Murong Kuan spoke gently, "Aran, Father already paid the rent. It’s only right that we stay here. Besides, now that you’ve recovered, there’s no reason for us to move."
"Your third brother is correct," Murong Zhe added.
Seeing their persistence, Mr. Gao’s expression hardened. "Absolutely not! You cannot stay here. Get out this instant!"
"Sister-in-law, you tried to evict them earlier because you feared the girl wouldn't make it. Now that she’s conscious, why are you still so adamant about driving them away?"
"She... she simply doesn't want us here," Murong Lingran interjected, struggling for breath due to her weakened state. "Even if Father and Brother refuse to leave now, she will just find another excuse to kick us out later."
Having come from the 21st century, she had encountered plenty of such opportunistic people before.
Murong Zhe froze, his face flushing with indignation. "Is what my daughter said the truth?"
Gao curled her lip. She hadn't expected the brat to be so perceptive, but it didn't matter. She wasn't afraid of them. "So what if it is?" she sneered. "Your daughter might be awake now, but she was in a coma for twenty days. Can you guarantee she won't collapse again? I won't have a sick person ruining the Feng Shui of my home. What’s wrong with that?"
Furious at her blatant excuses, Murong Zhe snapped, "If that’s the case, why didn't you reject our rent twenty days ago?"
"Father, she... she likely targeted our money from the start. She wanted to play the 'white wolf with empty gloves' and take everything for nothing."
Mr. Gao’s face twisted in rage. Pointing a finger at Murong Lingran, she screamed, "You're just a child! Who gave you the right to speak? Get out of my sight!"
Her family was growing, and their current living situation was cramped. She had long desired to fix up the old building behind the house but was too stingy to use her own savings. When Murong Zhe approached her to rent, she saw a desperate family with a sick child and realized it was the perfect opportunity. She planned to take their rent, wait for a chance to kick them out, and use their money to renovate the house for herself. She just hadn't expected to wait twenty days for the moment to arrive.
Observing her frantic reaction, Murong Zhe understood everything. He took a long, steadying breath and said, "Fine. We will leave."
