"Alright, alright."
The student council's vice president, Chai Yichen, addressed Zhong Huai, stating, "Classmate, please state your name and class."
"Understood, please gather over there."
Zhong Huai proceeded to the designated area and was taken aback to see four other individuals already present: "So many cultivators?"
Shortly after, two more students arrived, and Chai Yichen then led the assembled group away.
Upon reaching their destination, Chai Yichen positioned himself beneath a small truck, retrieved several bags, and began distributing them to the students.
Zhong Huai accepted a bag and, upon opening it, discovered a pair of work gloves with a sense of surprise.
Chai Yichen gestured towards a substantial pile of books on the truck, announcing, "Everyone, please assist in moving these to the storeroom situated on the third floor!"
"...
During the third evening self-study period, another truck unexpectedly appeared. Zhong Huai, ever the helper, was still lending his strength.
Wang Longlong, perched on the podium, was deep in thought, strategizing on how to overcome Class 11.
The common wisdom suggested that Class 8 was already at rock bottom, with little room for improvement. Therefore, instead of focusing on self-betterment, why not aim to undermine Class 11?
Jiang Ning, engrossed in his phone, received a sudden message from Mr. Guo: "Care to join me for some seeds?"
"What variety?"
Guo Ran replied, "No particular flavor, just very aromatic."
Jiang Ning, casting a glance at Tongtong, who was sound asleep, rose to leave the classroom. Wang Longlong, observing this, remained silent, feeling powerless to intervene.
While Jiang Ning's academic performance might not have been as stellar as Xue Yuantong's, he was, nonetheless, Xue Yuantong's closest confidant!
Xiao Shaoxiong took notice, remarking internally on the surprisingly lax discipline at the city high school, where students could seemingly depart without explanation.
Deciding to emulate the behavior, he promptly stood up and headed towards the classroom door.
Wang Longlong immediately interjected, "Classmate, where do you believe you are going?"
Xiao Shaoxiong turned back, retorting, "I'm stepping out for some fresh air. Didn't Jiang Ning just leave directly?"
Wang Longlong firmly stated, "You are not permitted to leave."
Xiao Shaoxiong, feeling a prickle of displeasure, questioned, "And why is he allowed to depart so freely?"
Chen Siyu, stepping in to defend the esteemed teacher, Jiang Ning, explained, "Because he has brought honor and glory to our class!"
Wang Longlong perceived Xiao Shaoxiong's somewhat obstinate nature and his expression shifted to one of polite indifference: "Your departure is permissible, but only to the office."
Xiao Shaoxiong, being new to the environment, hesitated to push further and reluctantly returned to his seat.
He happened to meet Lu Qiqi's look of disdain, her eyes seeming to convey a silent message: 'Such a commoner.'
Xiao Shaoxiong felt a pang of dejection. Back at Town High School, he had been quite the prominent figure, but here in the city, he was merely ordinary.
First, he faced Lu Qiqi's scorn, and then he was managed by the acting class leader, a significant loss of face.
A resolve formed within Xiao Shaoxiong: 'Once I acclimate to this environment, I shall demonstrate that true talent will always shine through!'
Jiang Ning descended the stairs and arrived at the office.
Guo Ran lounged back in her chair, legs crossed, exuding an air of relaxed nonchalance.
She was engrossed in a movie, casually consuming seeds, and upon seeing Jiang Ning's arrival, she gestured enthusiastically towards a nearby chair: "Come, sit with me."
Jiang Ning took a seat beside her and, by habit, reached for a handful of seeds.
"This movie is rather frightening; if you hadn't arrived, I wouldn't have dared to watch it alone," Guo Ran remarked with a playful smile, her dazzling earrings catching the light as they swayed.
A young female teacher nearby, organizing her desk, inquired, "Ranran, where did you acquire those earrings? How much did they cost? Do you have a link?"
Guo Ran nonchalantly replied, "They were a gift, no money involved. Won them from the gold shop during the New Year festivities."
As she spoke, her gaze drifted towards Jiang Ning, a subtle, involuntary upturn at the corners of her mouth.
"Such incredible luck!" the female teacher exclaimed with undisguised envy. She was an intern teacher who had joined in December and had only just moved into this office today.
From a corner of the room, Gao Heshuai, manipulating a small, circular magical wallpaper, posed a question: "Xiao Tao, wasn't your previous office on the fourth floor alongside Old Yao?"
Teacher Xiao Tao's countenance darkened upon hearing this: "Who isn't familiar with Teacher Yao?"
Mrs. Zhou, preoccupied with a recipe, added, "I have indeed heard some things before; they say he's quite a character."
Xiao Tao, in her straightforward and somewhat naive manner, let loose her grievances: "We girls always end up carrying the purified water to our office, while he never lifts a finger, yet he consumes the most each day! He even uses it to water his pothos plant, nearly half a bucket at a time. I've never encountered such a man..."
Mrs. Zhou nodded, murmuring, "I have certainly heard whispers of such matters."
Abruptly, Teacher Xiao Tao found herself pouring out her complaints just as a teacher with a stern demeanor entered; it was Mr. Yan, who also served as the grade director and the head of the academic affairs office.
Director Yan strode directly into the office, his voice cutting through the air as he posed a direct question: "Xiao Tao, did you have your phone with you while teaching this afternoon?"
Xiao Tao offered an explanation: "I was wearing a skirt, which lacks pockets, so I placed my phone on the podium. I did not, however, use it."
Mr. Yan's brow furrowed as he chided, "Principal Yu has repeatedly instructed all subject teachers in meetings not to bring their phones into the classroom; what is the meaning of this?"
Xiao Tao responded, "I was wearing a skirt, and it doesn't have any pockets."
Director Yan stated impassively, "Oh? Didn't I mention previously that teachers should pay attention to their attire? Why aren't you adhering to that?"
Xiao Tao stammered, "I..."
"Furthermore, last time, why did you show a movie to the students? Don't you understand that the school's primary focus is on academics?"
Xiao Tao replied, "I noticed the students seemed overly tired..."
Director Yan's voice rose in anger, "Tired? Do you have any idea how many parents would curse you if I relayed this reason to them?"
"Regarding the office changes, why did you approach Principal Yu directly instead of consulting me first?" Director Yan's words felt like daggers, piercing Xiao Tao's very core.
As a mere intern teacher, enduring such severe reprimand, her tears began to flow uncontrollably, and she felt an overwhelming sense of injustice.
Mrs. Zhou quickly interjected to comfort her, saying, "Director Yan, Xiao Tao is a new teacher; she doesn't quite grasp everything yet, and this is her first mistake."
With that, she subtly nudged Xiao Tao, encouraging her to apologize.
Xiao Tao, her voice trembling with emotion, managed to say, "Thank you, Director, for pointing out my errors. I... I truly am sorry..."
Director Yan knitted his brows once more. "You will write a 2000-word self-reflection detailing your mistakes and submit it to me by noon tomorrow."
