Adults understand self-control. Teacher Ouyang instructed, "Have some water and then leave."
Teacher Ouyang quickly drank some water and departed in haste.
Chen Haiyang found it peculiar; wasn't there a water dispenser within Class 8?
With a stern countenance, Teacher Ouyang strode through the corridor. Surely, without his lectures, the students of Class 8 would be filled with regret, wouldn't they!
The classroom atmosphere must undoubtedly be dreadfully gloomy, right!
"Serves them right!"
A sense of triumphant retribution flooding him, Teacher Ouyang stepped across the threshold of Class 8.
Chen Qian stood on the podium, explaining sonorously, "For the Nth infraction of tardiness, an athlete's velocity..."
He then noticed the sunlight at the doorway abruptly extinguished and turned his head, encountering Teacher Ouyang's astonished visage.
"Teacher, you are back?" Chen Qian inquired casually.
Teacher Ouyang remained rooted at the doorway, a tempest of shock, fury, and bewilderment churning within him.
At that precise moment, Chen Siyu whispered to her deskmate, "Yuxia, doesn't he bear a striking resemblance to the husbands in those AVs who return home from work early?"
...
School concluded for the day.
Jiang Ning, with Tongtong riding pillion, guided his electric scooter homeward.
Tongtong, seated at the rear, felt the rushing breeze and exclaimed, "Jiang Ning, Jiang Ning, Yang Sheng mentioned that if we were to play badminton, you would undoubtedly dominate me. Do you concur with her assessment?"
"She is correct."
"I refuse to believe it!"
Jiang Ning retorted, "Then why did you even inquire?"
Tongtong replied, "Very well."
As they neared the bungalow, the river dam area had transformed into an extraordinary throng. Vendors and casual wanderers nearly obstructed the pathway, with hundreds of people visible in every direction.
This locale was evidently not an official marketplace, nor did it possess any formal designation, yet it had gradually evolved into a vibrant, almost magical, free market where vendors converged.
The wares displayed were diverse: clothing, vegetables, live rabbits, snacks, eggs, cured meats... and even someone holding straw targets, peddling candied hawthorn, presenting a vast assortment.
It wasn't even four o'clock yet, with the setting sun casting its angled rays from the west, yet the human activity was unparalleled.
Jiang Ning reduced the scooter's speed as they advanced. Tongtong, from her perch at the back, swiftly concluded a transaction for candied hawthorn with an auntie displaying a straw target.
Jiang Ning found her resourcefulness truly impressive.
"Eat!" Tongtong offered the candied hawthorn, bringing it near his lips.
Jiang Ning took a bite, the taste a blend of sourness and sweetness.
His Divine Sense subtly extended outward. A little further away, three individuals were selling fish, each tending to a bucket. A cursory glance at their implements revealed to Jiang Ning that they were not professional vendors but rather fishermen marketing their catch.
"These fish were all caught from ponds that don't belong to me. They are grass carp weighing over two pounds each. Selling them at 8 bucks apiece, sounds fair?" inquired a man in his thirties or forties.
An auntie chimed in pointedly, "That's rather expensive, isn't it? Professional fishmongers even offer cleaning services, but with your fish, I'd have to do all the cleaning myself at home – quite inconvenient!"
"Precisely! Last time at the vegetable market, I saw some going for 3 bucks per pound!" added an elderly gentleman.
The auntie haggled, "6 bucks, I'll take two."
The fisherman seemed displeased. "At that price, I might as well sell them back to the boss. I've fished countless times, and this is my first attempt at selling fish; I'm not doing this purely for the money..."
The auntie insisted, "Indeed, if it's not about the money, then sell them to me!"
"I'm not selling. How can you offer 6 bucks? I'd rather discard them myself!" The fisherman gestured dismissively.
The auntie observed for a moment longer before departing.
The old man remarked, "These aren't wild-caught fish."
A nearby fisherman advised, "You should just set a higher price. Some individuals will always try to haggle, regardless of how low the cost is."
"Well, keep looking. Someone will eventually recognize their worth," the fisherman replied, settling back onto his stool.
Jiang Ning turned to Tongtong and asked, "Would you like to earn some money?"
Tongtong, mid-bite of candied hawthorn, responded without hesitation, "Of course, I would! Do you really think I'm the type of person who just sinks into playing LOL all day?"
"Alright, I have a business proposition."
Jiang Ning steered the scooter a short distance further, arriving at the fishermen's stalls.
Not everyone was solely focused on bargaining; a discerning uncle stepped forward and purchased a fish for 8 bucks.
Jiang Ning inquired about the pricing.
The fisherman enthusiastically began his sales pitch.
Tongtong, brandishing a wad of hundred-dollar bills, declared, "I'll take them all!"
The three fishermen exchanged astonished glances; this young girl, though petite, possessed remarkable audacity!
"Set aside two for me, I still want to eat some myself!" one of them said.
Following this, they grabbed black plastic bags and began packing the fish with such fervor that they ended up selling all the fish they had initially intended to keep a couple of.
There were 16 grass carp exceeding two pounds, 5 three-pounders, and 12 over one pound – a total of more than twenty overflowing black bags.
The total expenditure amounted to 232 bucks.
After setting Tongtong down, Jiang Ning retrieved a clean fertilizer sack from beneath the scooter's seat. He stowed the contents within, then nonchalantly slung the sack over his shoulder and rode away.
The fishermen onlooking were stunned into disbelief, murmuring amongst themselves, "Can he actually be that strong?"
That sack, after all, appeared to weigh at least several dozen pounds!
Tongtong, puffing her chest out with pride, chimed in, "He's incredibly strong!"
With the heavy fertilizer sack balanced effortlessly, Jiang Ning skillfully maneuvered his scooter with one hand, his cool demeanor unwavering as he headed home.
Upon arrival, Tongtong swiftly hopped off the scooter and busied herself by moving several large basins into the yard.
Jiang Ning then proceeded to untie the fertilizer sack, followed by the black plastic bags, revealing the still-frisky grass carp within.
Selecting one bag, Jiang Ning swiftly struck it to momentarily stun the fish.
Xue Yuantong donned her fish-killing skin gloves and began assisting, ushering the carp towards their next reincarnation.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ning embarked on a trip for rural tourism.
Elsewhere, Lin Zida and his team were occupied with a plastic basket. A pigeon pecked at corn beneath it. Lin Zida tugged on a string, causing the basket to descend and trap the oblivious bird.
Lin Zida erupted in joyful dances, his sense of accomplishment soaring!
However, the pigeon inside the basket calmly continued its meal of corn, utterly unaware of its capture.
Lin Zida's triumphant feeling evaporated instantly, replaced by a wave of existential questioning. "Ah Ge, what does this even mean?" he lamented.
Jiang Ning approached, inquiring, "Is your old fried rice cart still around?"
