Onest appeared utterly pathetic, outnumbered by the five members of his newly acquired family. His wife, who possessed a mature aura and seemed to be nearly twice his age.
And then there were the children, likely around his own age.
Shitless broke into laughter first at his predicament, followed by Vritra. The women, not wanting to be impolite to the already distressed Onest, turned away and chuckled amongst themselves.
"Congratulations, you scoundrel! When did you get hitched?" Shitless inquired.
"Excellent work, my friend! You've truly won at life. A lovely wife and several adorable children – what more could a man desire? My congratulations!" Vritra chimed in, his laughter subsiding.
Witnessing his dire situation, their initial response as loyal friends was to erupt in laughter.
"Y- You guys…" Onest began, a tear escaping his eye. He seemed to have undergone a significant transformation in such a brief period.
"Honey, even if they are your friends, how can you just stand by while they beat your sons? You must stand up for them!! Right now!!" the woman shouted.
"Quiet." Vritra commanded. The smile vanished from his face as he fixed his gaze upon the woman, who instantly found herself incapable of uttering another word.
She struggled to scream, but no sound emerged, leaving her deeply horrified.
Banter was acceptable among them, but who had given this woman the audacity to interject their conversation?
"Uh… V- Vritra, could you perhaps refrain from… uhm… harming her?" Onest requested hastily, much to everyone's surprise.
With a slight frown, Vritra ceased his use of the forbidden ability and inquired playfully, "It seems you're overly fond of your wife. Alas, it appears you can no longer tread this path."
"HONEY!! I don't want these individuals in my home EVER AGAIN! Do you hear me? These criminals! Make them leave, and we need to attend to our children's injuries." the woman declared rapidly.
"O- Okay, let's discuss this outside." Onest suggested, stepping out of the house. Before the woman could voice further objections, he had vanished.
Vritra shook his head, sensing Onest was on the brink of a complete breakdown. He then turned and disappeared as well.
A moment later, the woman and her children were left standing in a state of bewildered shock.
"Damn it! Once you return, I'll make you sleep on the floor!" she yelled furiously.
...
Ascending into the heavens, the group of ten eventually halted. Vritra patiently awaited Onest's explanation of the unfolding events.
They refrained from further teasing, lest he actually lose his mind.
"I- I was swindled, you son of a bitch!" he sobbed quietly, feeling the urge to weep over his fate, though no tears would come.
"So, what exactly transpired? Why are you even listening to her?" Vritra inquired, his expression suggesting he had been engaged in strenuous chores for days.
Onest drew a deep breath and slowly began recounting his story.
That woman, he explained, was named Zira. Onest had fallen for her after encountering her at the marketplace.
She had been in the process of falling, and he had caught her. Their eyes met, and an instant spark ignited between them.
She was beautiful, mature, and possessed a voluptuous figure that immediately captivated Onest's attention.
He desired to learn more about her, and she reciprocated with equal enthusiasm.
They shared a meal at a hotel, talking for hours and getting to know each other intimately. He even divulged his true, and rather proud, profession.
Initially, Onest anticipated she might leave upon hearing this, but surprisingly, she didn't seem to mind. She stated that everyone has a difficult past.
Some things, she reasoned, are simply beyond one's control and choices.
Onest found himself falling for her even more deeply. She was so understanding and intelligent, truly appearing to be the perfect match for him.
And after witnessing Vritra's family life, he too yearned for a similar happy existence. Thus, Onest decided to embrace love.
After spending time together, he escorted her home before rushing to the Yate Realm.
Upon arrival, he discovered that others had already commenced their activities, necessitating a wait. However, this news brought him joy.
This delay would allow him to spend more time with Zira. Over the subsequent days, they indeed remained inseparable.
Their intimacy in bed was also exceptional, solidifying the impression of a perfect relationship.
Onest simply desired a happy connection like Vritra's, a partner who cared for him deeply, and Zira seemed to embody all the desirable qualities.
Much like Vritra with his wife, Onest was prepared to overlook Zira's past. Before long, she was the one to propose marriage.
It was at this juncture that the nightmare commenced. She presented him with a document to sign, compelling him to swear upon his esteemed profession of thievery and his deceased mother.
In his infatuation, Onest acted recklessly. He failed to realize that the past he so readily dismissed included four children, nearly his own age.
Only after they relocated to their new home did he uncover the truth: he had been ensnared, trapped into becoming a father, and was now obligated to provide for the five of them.
He was utterly trapped. The contract stipulated that he could neither abandon her nor the children, and that he must obey her, protect her, and fulfill numerous other obligations.
Under normal circumstances, Onest might not have been overly concerned by such terms. However, his oath, sworn upon his dead mother and his profession, rendered him unable to break the contract.
"And that's it, now I am stuck with them." Onest muttered, looking depressed and hollow.
"At least she doesn't have any other man, so it works." Shitless said, patting his friend's shoulder.
Finally, he got a chance to make fun of Onest and he wasn't going to let go of it easily.
"Hmm want me to get rid of the five of them? Or I can make them willingly break this marriage." Vritra asked, rolling his eyes at Shitless who kept laughing.
"Sigh we can't do that, she had made such a big contract and I believed her blindly, damn I am so stupid!!" Onest felt like beating the shit out of himself.
But he can't even harm himself as recorded in the contract, so he can't blackmail Zira into ending the marriage.
Vritra too felt like slapping this guy, how can he be so stupid? Wasn't he a thief, aren't they supposed to be very smart to make a fool of others?
Yet here is this guy, just got fooled so badly by a woman. Was it because of love?
Vritra glanced back at his wives, thankfully all his women are good, he doesn't want to imagine having someone like Zira in his life.
"Do you have that contract on you?" Vritra asked, without seeing all the terms he can't do anything.
Onest was clearly trapped in this well-proof plan.
"S- She took it with herself…" Onest said, making Vritra sigh deeply.
"B- But I do remember it all, I can write quickly!" Onest knew only Vritra could help him now and he was so done with this love thing for now.
Vritra nodded and Onest took out a very long paper, he seemed prepared for it, and quickly began to write.
Thankfully at their level of strength, remembering such things was a piece of cake.
That Zira was smart enough to not even give a copy to Onest so he can't find any flaws, but thankfully he got to read it all.
And he really couldn't find any flaws at all.
The others waited as Onest finished writing a contract so long that it could fill a few textbooks, that woman really didn't miss anything.
Vritra held the thick bundle of papers, he looked at Onest, his image had fallen even further.
He used to think only Shitless is the slow one in their group but it seemed this guy was no better.
Vritra and all the women began to read the contract and gasped at how much thought Zira had put into it.
That woman is so sly, it's like she had thought of almost all possibilities and escape from this marriage is impossible.
Unless Onest breaks his oath.
"Bro, you are kinda fucked!" Shitless said after reading a few lines, he patted his shoulder again and nodded in sympathy.
It took a few minutes to complete the whole contract, finally the seven women looked at Onest pitifully.
No matter what Onest does, there is just no way he can get out of this marriage in this life.
Vritra remained silent for a few moments, then he looked at Onest and spoke: "There is only one way that you can be a free man again."
"There is a way?!!" Onest's eyes glowed with hope, he asked excitedly: "What is it?"
"Only if she very willingly wants to end this marriage and leave you, otherwise you can't do anything." Vritra replied.
Onest suddenly lost his energy, he knew that too, there is no way that bitc- wife of his will leave him willingly.
Damnit, he can't even curse her out.
And he can't even make her hate him or make her want to leave him in any way possible.
"That is of no use, is there really no other way?" Onest looked dejected and broken.
"Of course it can work, don't worry, let me handle this; I'd win." Vritra said, laughing lightly.
Still this whole situation was kinda funny.
"Really? T- Thank you, but I gotta leave now, I can't stay away from her for too long…" Onest said, looking so pitiful.
He had lost his freedom completely.
"Alright, I will start the plan soon, just do what you normally do." Vritra said as Onest left after saying goodbyes.
"Uwahahahahaha" Shitless hugged his belly and laughed like a madman.
Vritra didn't interrupt him for a few moments and then asked: "Sir Shitless, I have got a small task for you, would you mind doing it?"
And Shitless was scared shitless upon hearing that, he jumped back in fright and had a bad feeling in his heart.
