Fleeing a massive underground crawler, Vritra punched through the ground, dropping his group into a dimly lit sewer where they stumbled upon over forty survivors led by the robust warrior known as Bull. Claiming sanctuary after escaping surface horrors, Vritra's party negotiated surrender to avoid battle, agreeing to serve as cannon fodder in Bull's upcoming raid on another group in exchange for mutant meat rations, with strict conditions to protect his women from harm. Tensions rose as leering men approached the women, prompting Vritra to unleash a chilling blood magic warning, while his wives whispered concerns about the group's size and their precarious role as expendable bait.

"Watch them closely," the leader instructed while heading off. Naturally, she harbored no faith in those folks either.

Judging by looks alone, gathering intel on them proved challenging.

Regardless, they'd perish in tomorrow's clash anyway, making deep pondering pointless.

Munching on the roasted meat, she entered her simple shelter.

Meanwhile, Vritra and his companions felt exhaustion settling in. Their physiques had grown frailer than in the past.

"We'll pitch a tent right here; this spot will do for now," Vritra declared with a heavy breath. He urgently needed to boost his power sooner.

Included in the assorted prizes were several shelters. Pulling them out, they swiftly erected the pair of tents.

One housed Shitless and Onest, the remaining for Vritra alongside his spouses.

"P-Pitiful one, must I truly bunk with this thief? Suppose he swipes my stuff?" the monk grumbled.

"Huh? Shitless, what valuable junk do you own worth nabbing? Or are you turning into actual crap, Sonia?" Onest shot back.

Vritra rolled his eyes, allowing the duo to squabble. Glancing at his partners, he signaled them.

"This setup isn't half bad," the goddess remarked, surveying the area.

Blankets covered the floor, yet a chill lingered slightly.

"Time to catch some shut-eye; heaven knows what awaits us come dawn," Vritra suggested, stretching out.

His spouses joined him, settling on either flank.

"Hubby, want me to stand guard?" Yasmine offered. Trusting those outsiders was unwise, after all.

Witnessing numerous beauties gathered, plenty might lose their restraint.

"No worries, Divine will rouse me if issues arise, won't you, Divine?" Vritra assured.

"Haa, this fellow. Alright, I'll manage that for all you've contributed," Divine exhaled. He'd been demoted to sentry duty.

Drawing multiple covers over themselves, they shut their eyes. At the very least, unity bound them all.

Due to Bull's vow, fortunately, no troublemakers from the men approached their group.

At daybreak, they hastily cleaned up and slipped into fresh warm outfits.

Vritra, thanks to his numerous pulls, never ran short on provisions.

"Oi, you! The boss summons you for a chat." Soon enough, one fellow strode over and announced.

Yet his stare lingered on the stunning ladies. Advancing, Vritra obstructed the sightline.

"Fine, I'll head over. Now scram!" In the end times, scarce few clung to their goodwill and morals.

"How bold! You're merely a prisoner, yet you speak to me so rudely!!" The man's ego stung; he itched to pummel Vritra before his ladies.

"Drop it. If Bull learns she delayed on your account, you're doomed. And I bet he can't shield himself long, much less those gals."

A second man chuckled as the pair retreated.

"Tch, I'll hold off briefly."

'Hold on, how'd these intruders snag such fine tents? Did we miss spotting them?' he pondered, though he brushed it aside.

"Darling, got any strategy?" Fiona scowled. She despised any slight against her mate or kin.

"Yes, I'll confront that Bull lady. Remain vigilant." Vritra stated gravely.

Issuing some directives, he departed.

As Vritra navigated past the shelters toward the largest, gazes fixed upon him.

"Hold up, give your name." A sentinel demanded, eyeing him suspiciously.

"…Adam." Vritra answered. He merely had to endure a while more.

"Okay, enter." The guard uttered with arrogance.

Entering, Vritra spotted Bull encircled by other males at a circular table.

"Adam, glad you made it. Perfect, every squad head is present too." She noted, treating him like a key member.

"What orders for me?" he queried, advancing before Bull.

"Oh, direct, are we? Impressive. Up close, you're rather striking. Fancy being my plaything? I've stockpiled plenty of rations." She proposed.

Her tone boomed manlier than typical males.

"Pass." Vritra declined resolutely, shaking his head.

"Heh, we'll revisit that soon. For now, we're striking the Bull Eater faction. They're fewer in count, yet their chief packs serious might." Bull explained.

'Bull Eater? Ha, risky venture for her, huh?' Vritra nearly chuckled at the moniker.

"And you expect me in the lead charge?" he cut in.

Fortune smiled on them arriving amid this crew's war prep, unable to risk disruptions.

Else, Bull would've assaulted them outright.

"Clever as well. Exactly. It's risky, sure, but I won't let you undermine from behind.

Up front, you'll battle for survival just like us." She affirmed with a nod.

"Understood." He agreed through clenched teeth.

"Excellent, sharp mind. Gear up, grab some arms if needed. Also, inform Tat of your team's powers prior to departing—no fibs!" she commanded, indicating the stout fellow dubbed Tat.

"Sure, sure…" Vritra exited as Tat trailed, clutching a ragged sheet.

"Ten in your lot. Spill each one's power." Tat demanded.

"Mine's brute force. The bald fella shifts to female form. The rest dashes at top speed. My ladies remain dormant, relying on my protection." Vritra claimed.

This furrowed Tat's brow. Credulity escaped him entirely. After half a year plus in chaos, how might women stay dormant?

Weren't they courting death? Hadn't they consumed altered flesh?

"Quit the lies!!" Tat bellowed. He failed to grasp Bull's interest in feeble fodder like this.

Deep down, he yearned to claim those women.

'Hang on, I've got Evomorph too. What's its function?

Does it trigger solely in peril? Better test it.' Vritra mused, pivoting to stride off.

"Think you can brush me off?" Tat discarded the note and lunged abruptly at Vritra's rear.

Tat lagged behind Bull in might, yet most attributes topped 20, barring spirit and swiftness.

Vritra merely angled his head, letting the hefty limb whoosh by untouched.

"Head back; Bull detests infighting at this juncture." Vritra advised, unbroken in stride.

'H-He evaded? ' Tat reeled in astonishment. That nimbleness surpassed 20.

'Claimed strength power? Perhaps swiftness instead—no chance of 20+ agility hauling women around. Right, report this.' Tat returned.

Reuniting, Vritra announced gravely, "Grab a meal and brace for the fight looming. Peril mounts swiftly."

"United, we'll prevail. No fears, hubby." Yasmine comforted, though she longed for prior calmer days.

For now, even intimate moments eluded them. Safety had to precede; only then could she indulge.

Besides, birthing here spelled disaster. Uncertainty shrouded their stay's length.

Each harboring private musings, they commenced dining.
