[A mutant corpse has been detected!]
[You have acquired the Divine Sin Wheel!]
[Divine Sin Wheel is undergoing an upgrade…]
…
Suddenly, a series of notifications appeared in front of Vritra, causing him to pause in shock for a brief instant.
He stopped his exploration and simply waited there.
[Divine Sin Wheel has been upgraded!!]
{Sin Point Gained: Touched a Corpse +24}
'Looks like the Sin Wheel has truly transformed; I haven't gotten any alerts from people's responses this time.' Vritra realized this detail just now, as he usually overlooked such notices.
He pondered what alterations might have occurred in the gacha mechanism.
Next, his eyes fell on the trio of mangled remains. Not delaying a second, Vritra reached out and made contact with the fragments of their forms.

…
{Sin Points: 86}
"So, what's the cost to spin the wheel... and can I buy attributes like before?" he murmured to himself.
"Spinning the wheel costs varying amounts of sin points, such as 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, or higher. Naturally, spending more points yields superior prizes.
Oh, and by the way, just query it directly, and it'll respond to you." Divine offered, stepping in to assist him proactively.
"Hmm, how many sin points for buying attributes?" Vritra inquired.
{0.5 random attribute point = 1,000 Sin Points}
"That means 2,000 sin points for a single attribute point? Damn, that's steep. Divine, any chance you can reduce the price?" With access to chat straight with the creator, Vritra voiced his frustration openly.
"Things aren't that straightforward, as you imagine. If it were up to me, I'd hand it all over without hassle. Plenty of factors come into play.
Still, with decent luck, the gacha could let you snag them for far fewer points." He answered with a sense of resignation.
Vritra merely shook his head in response. Concentrating intently, a ghostly wheel materialized in his view.
Though the outcome remained hidden, it appeared guaranteed rewards replaced any luck-based rerolls.
In the absolute worst outcome, something useful would still come his way.
After a short deliberation, he declared: "Spin for 20 sin points."
{Used 20 Sin Points.}
The wheel whirled rapidly before halting on a particular slot.
{Congratulations, you have obtained 10 bottles of energy drinks!}
"Energy drinks?!" Shock hit him hard. Apparently, sustenance could be pulled from this system. Not a terrible result at all.
"Hold on, do I still possess my inventory space?" The beverages had vanished straight into storage.
This proved quite handy.
"Spin for 50 sin points." Vritra resolved himself and uttered the command, eager to test further.
{Congratulations, you have acquired 1 Agility attribute point!}
A surge of comforting heat rushed through Vritra's frame, with the shift immediately apparent.
Suddenly, his speed, reflexes, and similar traits doubled in prowess.
"Sweet, equivalent to 2,000 points' value." Vritra flexed his fingers experimentally, sensing the clear improvement.
"Poor soul, we didn't uncover much around here. Just scraps of food left behind, plus a handful of knives and machetes." Shitless and Onest displayed the tools they'd gathered.
"Mm, take those to the adjacent apartment. I'll join you shortly." Vritra instructed.
"Got it; scavenging eats in this spot looks tough." Onest let out a heavy breath. They'd stuffed themselves earlier, yet hunger would creep back before long.
Once they departed, Vritra muttered: "Spin for 10 sin points."
The wheel rotated swiftly and...
{Congratulations, you have obtained 10 bottles of water!}
{Sin Points: 6}
'Time to rack up more sin points; handling corpses ought to suffice.' He mused, then strode to the window for a peek outdoors.
A dense blanket of snow blanketed everything, with flakes descending in a fierce storm.
Positioned on the twelfth level, several stories loomed overhead.
Numerous mutants dotted the exterior view, a good number trapped solid in the frost.
Yet the far-off spectacle stunned Vritra deeply.
"Is that the tower I must attain within two and a half years?"
Visibility was low, yet it towered immensely, vanishing into the clouds, utterly colossal!
BANG
Right at that instant, a loud crash echoed from the neighboring unit. With a scowl, he pivoted and dashed over.
The entrance was secured, so after scanning for mutant traces, he rapped on it.
Moments later, it swung open. Bursting in, Vritra spotted Maeve facing off against a massive cockroach.
The bug rivaled a football in bulk. Crimson liquid trickled from the metal bar gripped in Maeve's fist while she caught her breath.
She'd freshly crushed the oversized vermin's skull, though its appendages quivered on.
BANG BANG
Maeve bashed it twice over, and at last, it perished.
With that, tension eased from her stance.
"From where did that thing emerge?" Vritra approached.
"It burst through abruptly, haa haa, burrowing from above and leaping at me." Maeve explained. The surprise had truly rattled her briefly.
Warmth abruptly flooded Maeve's form, various alerts flickering in her sight.
"I... I think I've awakened!" The demoness cried out in excitement. Every stat of hers had risen by 0.2.
"Oh? Got an ability now?" Vritra questioned, crouching to prod the lifeless bug.
{Sin Point Gained: Touched a Corpse +19}
"Yeah, something tied to shadows, it looks like." Maeve replied. Details were sparse in the info provided.
"Excellent work, foxie." Vritra rose, cleaned off his palm, and ruffled her hair affectionately.
Gazing at the breach overhead, he felt certain additional mutant roaches lurked higher up.
"We'll need to purge this structure and boost our power before escaping." Vritra muttered under his breath.
"That hideous beast is probably still lurking out there. We're nowhere near strong enough for it." Fiona pointed out.
"Hey, we've got perfect decoys, haven't we—Shitless and Onest?" Vritra remarked, clapping the monk on the back.
"Sure, uh wait..." Onest caught on to his role as lure.
Their expressions drew a chuckle from Vritra, before he continued: "I'll scout the remaining units on this level first."
"Stay safe, dear." Diana urged, aware they offered little aid to him.
"Mm, remain inside." Vritra replied, heading for the exit.
"Hold on, master—may I join you?" Maeve interjected while experimenting with her power, then demonstrated: "I can conceal us, see?"
Instantly, shadowy darkness enveloped her completely, and shifting to a dimmer spot rendered her invisible.
"Fine, but stay alert." Vritra warned gravely.
The pair ventured forth. The hallway remained empty.
They hastened to the third dwelling and rummaged through it.
"Seven bodies!!" Vritra exclaimed in astonishment at the slain household.
A sigh escaped him prior to harvesting the sin points rapidly.
Little else occupied the space. Likely, those four thugs had wiped them out.
{Sin Points: 147}
Afterward, they checked the next unit, finding zero remains.
Exiting, Vritra looked upward, considering his choices.
Ascending posed risks, yet holing up indefinitely wasn't viable.
Should his abilities grow and the group all awaken, advancement would accelerate dramatically.
"Foxie, upward we go. Stick near and prepare." Vritra directed, edging toward the staircase cautiously.
Enhanced agility offered limited edge versus such horrors.
They ascended with utmost quiet, only to halt abruptly.
At least a dozen zombies shuffled through the passage.
