Pocket Hunting Dimension Chapter 1: Edible with the Head Removed?
In an dimly lit room, Lu Ze lay sprawled across his bed, bewildered. His vision remained fixed on a faint, red-glowing monitor flickering nearby.
He had transmigrated.
For half an hour, Lu Ze sifted through the fragmented memories flooding his mind. Once finished, the reality of his situation finally settled in.
He had not traveled to the past, nor to another dimension... he had, in fact, arrived in the future.
Two millennia into the future, to be precise.
Humanity now possessed warp drives, scattering their footprint throughout the Milky Way and even venturing into the void beyond. Along the way, they encountered a myriad of alien races. They forged alliances with the friendly ones while engaging in brutal interstellar conflicts with the rest.
It felt little different from the Earth Lu Ze remembered. It was still a game of diplomacy, only played with a heavier emphasis on brute force.
After all, the adversaries were no longer human.
During these galactic struggles, humans discovered that while they possessed superior technology, their opponents were often physically superior. Compared to these alien civilizations, the human physique was as fragile as a newborn’s.
To lag behind meant to be crushed. Had humanity not sought the protection of the friendly Elves, they likely would have been wiped out long ago.
Following a period of intense reflection, humanity finally recognized the potential latent within all living beings. Spirit chi permeated the universe—an invisible, intangible essence. It could only be perceived by one’s body and spirit. During the ancient Earth era, it was known as dark energy.
Absorbing spirit chi to empower oneself and trigger biological evolution became the paramount project for the Human Federation, eventually becoming a staple of the educational curriculum.
Thus, martial arts surged in popularity. Talented youths everywhere aspired to become martial artists, chasing the promise of immense power, true freedom, and perhaps, even immortality.
Lu Ze’s previous life had followed this exact path.
He had died out of sheer desperation. With his final high school examinations approaching, his martial artist rank had reached the threshold required for the test. Driven to secure a spot at the most prestigious federation university, he had cultivated obsessively day and night. This fanaticism caused his chi to flow incorrectly, leading to his unfortunate demise.
He hadn't been a loser, nor was he mourning a failed relationship. He was simply a martial arts fanatic. With his attractive features, a comfortable family background, and respectable martial arts aptitude, he had gained his fair share of admirers.
Yet, his only true partner had been his pursuit of martial arts.
He hadn't offended any powerful tycoons or fallen into an ambush; he wasn't that naive. Besides, in that era, urban security was far superior to the chaotic times of ancient Earth. Why would any tycoon waste resources eliminating some random kid?
He lacked deep-seated family grudges or a burning desire for vengeance.
In short, he was merely an ordinary member of society. He had loving parents, a decent home, and an adorable little sister.
Ha... they are gone now. I simply must look out for my parents and my little sister.
Wait. Not everyone could evolve into a legendary martial artist. Despite his grand ambitions in his past life, he simply lacked the necessary innate talent.
Reality had a way of delivering harsh lessons.
Was there truly a need for talent if one worked hard enough?
Lu Ze had no complaints about his new identity. He was handsome, possessed a loving family, and had a sweet younger sister. This life wasn't too shabby, was it?
That past life was finished. Experiencing a second chance was enough.
As for the possibility of becoming a master martial artist... if it happened, it was a blessing. If not, it was simply destiny. Lu Ze saw no reason for obsession.
After all, Planet Lan Jiang, his current home, was within the federation’s core territory. It was incredibly safe. Even if he failed to become a cosmos-faring martial artist, he faced no immediate danger.
This was perfect. Lu Ze was quite satisfied with the arrangement made by the God of Transmigration.
If he managed to die again, he would see if he could leave a five-star review.
“Sleep, time to sleep...”
Exhaustion washed over him once he had organized his thoughts, and Lu Ze couldn’t stop himself from yawning.
The suddenness of the transmigration had left him stunned. Processing these new memories had left his mind drained. He would ponder the finer details when morning came.
With that, Lu Ze shut his eyes, letting his consciousness drift away until everything faded into darkness.
...
When Lu Ze pried his eyes open once more, the sky was a clear, brilliant blue. The sunlight warmed his face, causing him to squint in contentment.
A gentle breeze danced past. He caught the scent of grass mixed with rich soil; it invigorated his spirit.
Fresh air definitely lifted the soul. Lu Ze wore a smile.
Then, his expression stiffened.
Wait, something wasn't right.
He was lying in a field, staring at the heavens!
Wasn't I just sleeping in my bed!?
Lu Ze scrambled up and looked around in a daze.
He was situated in a meadow. The dew still clung to the lush grass. As the wind swept through, the prairie swayed like ocean waves.
The view was beautiful, but why was he here?
Lu Ze stood stunned. Had he transmigrated again?
The God of Transmigration must be working overtime. Given how diligent he is, I’m giving him a zero-star rating.
The dream of a cozy house and a sweet sister had devolved into a survival scenario in the wilderness.
The burning question remained... should he breakfast on grass?
Lu Ze stared at the vegetation, rendered speechless.
While he wasn't famished, it was prudent to think ahead. He needed to figure out his dinner options.
Wait!
Lu Ze’s eyes suddenly widened as a confident grin spread across his face.
This must be a dream!
Still smiling confidently, he pinched his leg with all his might.
“...”
Lu Ze’s smile twisted. A jolt of sharp pain caused his mouth to twitch uncontrollably.
He had used entirely too much force!
There was no one else around, so why even try to act cool?
The most humiliating part was the failure of his logic. At least the only witness was the wind.
Did he transmigrate again? Yeah, definitely a zero-star rating.
Just then, a rustling sound emanated from behind him. The noise grew louder and sharper. Goosebumps broke out on Lu Ze’s skin as he whipped around.
“Fuck!” Lu Ze let out a curse and instinctively grabbed a handful of grass.
What had he discovered?
A white rabbit!
Though... the creature was bizarrely large.
It was a meter-tall bunny!
Gazing at the gigantic rabbit, Lu Ze couldn't help his thoughts. If I remove the head, it should be edible, right?
No, no, no, what a terrible train of thought!
Lu Ze cut off his cruel internal monologue.
Wait, rabbit heads are actually delicious! He shouldn't throw it away!
