Peach Blossom Divine Medical God Chapter 1976 - 1961: Purgatory
Previously on Peach Blossom Divine Medical God...
Normally, Chen Yang wouldn't stoop to arguing with such an idiotic fellow whose aspirations exceeded his capabilities.
However, with more than a dozen critical patients on the line, he couldn't stand by idly.
He refused to let the treatment of numerous individuals be hampered by the foolishness of just one person. Such an outcome would be profoundly unfair.
"So, being a foreign-educated returnee makes you superior? You're prescribing medication without understanding the actual conditions – do you grasp the potential severity of the consequences? When you were studying abroad, did those foreign instructors never impart such wisdom to you?" Chen Yang retorted, his voice filled with indignation. He then swiftly turned and called out to the other doctors who were still administering medicine, "Cease administering medication to the critically ill patients immediately! If you don't, people will perish, and none of you will be able to manage the ensuing fallout."
Anger surged through Chen Yang, and the commanding tone in his voice momentarily stunned all the doctors, halting their actions.
They looked up in bewilderment, their gazes shifting between Chen Yang and Dr. Wang, uncertain whose instructions to follow.
Dr. Wang, whose ego was as inflated as the sky, was incensed to see his own colleagues being intimidated by this so-called 'village quack'.
"Boy, have I been too lenient with you? What right do you possess to question my competence? Mayor, I have but one question for you: Who was designated by the province to spearhead the response to this outbreak? If you permit someone like him to interfere with my work, I shall depart immediately, leaving you to handle this crisis alone! Whatever transpires thereafter will be entirely unrelated to me!" Dr. Wang declared furiously.
"Dr. Wang! Your assistance here is indeed crucial, but surely you cannot disregard the opinions of others? Chen Yang's medical expertise is renowned throughout all the surrounding villages, and his proficiency is quite considerable!" The mayor, thoroughly displeased with Dr. Wang's arrogant demeanor, immediately spoke in Chen Yang's defense.
This caused Dr. Wang's fury to escalate.
Consider his standing, his esteemed position.
He was a leading expert in a top provincial hospital, lauded by many senior doctors for his exceptional skills. How had it come to this, being challenged in some obscure, remote mountain village?
"Mayor, are you suggesting that this fellow's medical skills are formidable, surpassing my own, and that we should all be taking directives from him here?" Dr. Wang scoffed, his tone laced with derision.
"Do not misrepresent my words. My intention is that an epidemic is no minor affair. Any method or suggestion that could prove beneficial to the treatment should be given due consideration, not outright dismissed," the mayor countered, standing his ground.
"Heh." Dr. Wang let out another cold chuckle and directed his gaze at Chen Yang. "Very well, since the mayor insists, I am genuinely curious to hear your profound insights. I am eager to witness the caliber of hidden master your humble town has produced."
Dr. Wang's words were steeped in sarcasm, clearly indicating his continued disdain for Chen Yang.
"Chen Yang, please explain your thoughts. This epidemic is a grave matter; do not act rashly," the mayor urged Chen Yang, hoping to de-escalate the confrontation with Dr. Wang.
He felt a pang of embarrassment but recognized that immediate patient care took precedence over personal feelings.
Chen Yang keenly understood this.
Under normal circumstances, he would not deign to acknowledge Dr. Wang. However, with over a dozen lives hanging in the balance, failure to persuade this arrogant physician would impede the implementation of his treatment strategy.
There was no alternative; he had to suppress his revulsion and proceed with his explanation.
"I wouldn't describe them as profound insights, merely some rather unique perspectives. This epidemic deviates from the norm; it possesses a far greater capacity to inflict damage upon the body compared to conventional outbreaks."
"I have reviewed the treatment plan you proposed. It consists entirely of potent, aggressive medications. While they possess a certain efficacy against the ailment and can facilitate rapid recovery..."
"...Have you considered the repercussions? When employing powerful, forceful remedies to combat a fierce, aggressive epidemic, even if a cure is achieved, what about the detrimental impact on the patients' physical constitution?"
"If your approach is maintained, individuals with milder cases might recover, but their future quality of life will undoubtedly be compromised.
"As for those in severe condition, I surmise they will be unable to withstand the shock of such potent medication—it could prove fatal! I am quite certain these possibilities have not factored into your calculations. Your sole focus appears to be on stabilizing the patients' conditions as swiftly as possible."
"Have you ever heard the saying, ‘More haste, less speed’? The harder you try to force it, the more fiercely it will fight back!"
Chen Yang articulated his perspective with a voice brimming with certainty.
His reasoning wasn't just sound; it was deeply rooted in established medical principles.
Many medical professionals present fell into thoughtful silence upon hearing him, evidently finding merit in Chen Yang's arguments.
However, Dr. Wang and his assembled group met his words with disdain, even erupting in derisive laughter as if Chen Yang's statements were a mere jest.
"You speak as if your pronouncements are infallible. Do you possess any concrete evidence to support your claims? Don't imagine that a few minor successes in the backwaters grant you any special status, you provincial bumpkin! The education I've received, while perhaps not the absolute pinnacle of the world, is undeniably among the most advanced. What right do you have to challenge my expertise? From where do you draw such audacious courage?"
The other doctors joined in with their scornful remarks.
Hailing from the provincial capital, they regarded Dr. Wang's pronouncements as possessing unquestionable authority.
"A 'provincial bumpkin'? Is that a reflection of yourself?" Chen Yang retorted without a trace of deference. Simultaneously, he declared with absolute confidence, "You've already administered the dosage to several patients. Do you believe me when I say that within a mere minute, they will inevitably begin coughing up blood and exhibit severe adverse reactions?"
"If you wish to avoid a complete disaster, you would be wise to heed my advice: immediately induce vomiting in the patients who have taken the medication, purge it from their systems entirely, or a major catastrophe is imminent."
Following Chen Yang's declaration, Dr. Wang's expression transmuted from chilly mockery to outright revulsion.
