Peach Blossom Divine Medical God Chapter 1959 - 1952: Retrieving the Resources (2)
Previously on Peach Blossom Divine Medical God...
"Understood." Seeing that Chen Yang had agreed, Chen Tianmin readily accepted.
From what they understood, the resources left behind by the previous alliance head were sufficient for their development for some time.
By then, they might even be able to compensate Chen Yang for the resources he had provided them with.
Therefore, accepting these body-refining elixirs was not a significant concern.
"Old Qiu, please brief Yang Zi on the situation concerning the resources left by the former alliance head. It would be a great assistance if Yang Zi could personally escort them back for us," Chen Tianmin instructed Qiu Hongguang.
"Certainly." Qiu Hongguang nodded and turned to Chen Yang, "Young friend Chen Yang, the resources of our alliance are safeguarded by a trustworthy individual. When you go to collect them, simply follow my detailed instructions."
Qiu Hongguang was exceptionally cautious when discussing the retrieval of these resources.
He spoke in hushed tones within the room, whispering the instructions directly into Chen Yang’s ear.
Chen Yang listened intently, nodding repeatedly as he absorbed all of Qiu Hongguang’s arrangements.
"Understood, Old Qiu. I am not particularly busy at the moment, so I can depart today. If everything goes smoothly, I should return by evening at the latest," Chen Yang stated.
"Bear in mind every step I’ve outlined. That individual is the sworn brother of the former alliance head and possesses intimate knowledge of our Qiu Alliance. In this current sensitive climate, he is bound to be extremely vigilant. Should he perceive the slightest anomaly, I fear retrieving the resources will prove exceedingly difficult," Qiu Hongguang earnestly cautioned Chen Yang.
Chen Yang had already committed to memory the precautions and the specific procedures Qiu Hongguang had detailed.
"Yes, I have remembered everything, Old Qiu. Rest assured, I will depart immediately." Chen Yang affirmed his understanding with another nod.
"Yang Zi, our Qiu Alliance has sustained a severe blow. The prevailing situation in the provincial capital must be exceedingly intricate right now. You must exercise the utmost caution; do not allow any harm to befall you," Chen Tianmin expressed his continued concern for Chen Yang.
After all, numerous members of the Blood Bat Hall had met their demise.
The Blood Bat Hall would undoubtedly be conducting a widespread search for those responsible. If Chen Yang were to be discovered, it would precipitate grave consequences.
"Do not worry, Uncle. Nothing untoward will happen to me," Chen Yang replied with a confident smile, his self-assurance evident.
While Chen Tianmin remained apprehensive, he was well aware of Chen Yang’s capabilities and understood that no insurmountable problems were likely to arise.
"Very well, proceed. Oh, wait, take this with you," Chen Tianmin suddenly recalled something, withdrawing a small, square white seal from his pocket and presenting it to Chen Yang.
"What is this?" Chen Yang inquired, accepting the seal with a puzzled expression.
Chen Tianmin elaborated, "This is the seal of our Qiu Alliance, a personal emblem of the former alliance head known only to a select few. Should the individual you meet not recognize you, present this seal, and I am confident they will release our resources to you."
Chen Yang grasped the general purpose after hearing the explanation.
So, this was essentially the token of the Qiu Alliance.
Much like a sect’s identification token.
"I understand."
Chen Yang solemnly nodded, accepting the items offered.
"Furthermore, since you are traveling to the provincial capital, take Xiran along for the trip. She has some items there that require retrieval," Chen Tianmin added.
Chen Yang felt this was somewhat inappropriate.
After all, He Xiran was a member of the Qiu Alliance, and venturing into the provincial capital at this juncture carried inherent risks.
However, given Chen Tianmin’s proactive suggestion for He Xiran to accompany him, there must be underlying reasons. Thus, Chen Yang did not voice his reservations and simply agreed.
Upon receiving Chen Yang’s assent, Chen Tianmin promptly summoned He Xiran.
Upon learning of the need to travel to the provincial capital, He Xiran’s demeanor immediately turned somber.
Nevertheless, she offered no protest and simply nodded in agreement.
"Alright, your mission in the provincial capital is quite significant this time. However, your personal safety must be paramount. Even if you achieve nothing, ensure you return unharmed," Chen Tianmin reiterated his warning.
Chen Yang and He Xiran solemnly acknowledged his words before departing the hotel together.
They embarked on their journey towards the provincial capital.
The pair left in the morning and reached their destination by noon.
Despite the immense turmoil within the cultivation world, the lives of ordinary citizens proceeded unaltered.
The provincial capital remained as vibrant and crowded as ever, with a constant flow of people, as if no significant events had transpired.
Yet, beneath this placid surface, unseen currents were in motion. Along specific streets and at strategic locations, cultivators were subtly interspersed within the throngs of people.
With careful observation, it was not difficult to discern a distinctive blood bat tattoo concealed beneath their attire.
These individuals were all affiliated with the Blood Bat Hall.
"It seems the last incident really hit Blood Bat Hall hard. They've placed informants all over the place," He Xiran remarked in a hushed tone. She and Chen Yang were seated inside a restaurant, observing the activity outside through the window.
Chen Yang wasn't taken aback by this observation. With the demise of over a hundred members from the Qi Refinement Realm and even a Deputy Hall Master from the Spirit Gathering Realm, a substantial reaction from Blood Bat Hall was expected.
"No worries. They don't have your personal details, and we're only here for a brief errand. As long as we keep a low profile, they won't even notice us," Chen Yang stated casually. The sight of numerous Blood Bat Hall members on the streets didn't stir any surprise or strong emotions in him.
He Xiran, however, felt a bit on edge, which was why Chen Yang adopted such a relaxed demeanor. "Mm," she replied, nodding as she resumed eating her meal.
Once their meal concluded, they departed the restaurant, much like any ordinary couple enjoying a date. Their next destination was the northern district of the provincial city, leading them to a prominent corporate building.
Longke Pharmaceutical Group. Chen Yang brought the car to a halt upon seeing the name emblazoned on the building. This was the location provided by Chen Tianmin and Qiu Hongguang.
The individual in charge of the remaining assets of the Qiu Alliance was the chairman of this very group, a man named Yi Dingxiang. Chen Yang had limited knowledge of Yi Dingxiang himself, but based on the confidence expressed by Chen Tianmin and Qiu Hongguang, he gathered that the chairman was likely highly dependable.
Consequently, Chen Yang decided against extensive preparations or reconnaissance. His plan was to proceed directly to the building, locate Yi Dingxiang, secure the Qiu Alliance's resources, and then head back to Liuhe Village.
"Chen Yang, is this the place?" He Xiran inquired, stepping out of the car with a hint of unease. Given the sensitive circumstances and her distinct identity, frequenting such a public area could potentially attract unwanted attention.
"Yes, this is it. My uncle mentioned that Yi Dingxiang is quite trustworthy, so everything should be fine. Just act normally," Chen Yang reassured her with a smile, perceiving He Xiran's nervousness. "Okay," she responded, nodding before following Chen Yang into the corporate edifice.
"Hello, sir. How may we help you?" Two elegantly dressed women in business attire greeted them as soon as they entered the lobby.
"We're here to see Mr. Yi," Chen Yang stated plainly after a brief glance at them. "Mr. Yi?" The receptionist appeared momentarily surprised. "Yes, your chairman, Yi Dingxiang," Chen Yang clarified.
"Oh, do you have an appointment, sir?" The receptionist's demeanor shifted immediately to one of respect upon learning they wished to meet the chairman, and her tone grew more courteous. After confirming their identities, she smiled and continued, "Sir, our chairman is generally quite occupied. If you don't have a prior appointment, I'll need to inform his office first. Could you please wait a moment?"
"Certainly." Chen Yang, well aware of standard corporate protocols, complied with the receptionist's request and led He Xiran to the waiting lounge. The receptionist then departed to relay their message.
Approximately five to six minutes later, the receptionist returned, her smile even warmer than before. "Sir, our chairman would like to invite you both to his office for a discussion." "Understood," Chen Yang replied. He stood up with He Xiran, and together with the receptionist, they proceeded to the elevator, ascending to the chairman's office on the top floor.
Upon entering the office, they were formally introduced to Yi Dingxiang, the distinguished chairman of Longke Pharmaceutical Group, by the receptionist. "Mr. Yi, these are the two individuals who wished to meet you." Behind a large desk sat a man of refined appearance and sophisticated bearing. Dressed in a suit and wearing glasses, he exuded an air of understated nobility. Even outside the confines of his office, his distinguished presence would undoubtedly mark him as an exceptional individual.
