"It's a spirit vein!" Gu Cheng muttered as he took a deep breath to calm himself. His eyes remained fixed on the countless crystals embedded inside the mountain. Even with his calm nature, there was a faint excitement in his expression.
"Spirit stones are unearthed from the spiritual veins, right?" Ethan asked.
"Yes." Gu Cheng nodded.
"The spirit stones must contain Qi but how can there be Qi out here?" Henna voiced her opinion as she looked around the mine with a confused expression.
Gu Cheng did not answer immediately. He slowly turned around and looked deeper into the mine. His expression suddenly changed and his eyes brightened.
"I sensed something."
Without wasting any more time, Gu Cheng moved deeper into the mine. Ethan and Henna exchanged a glance before following him. The deeper they went, the stronger the strange energy became. The crystals around them also became more concentrated and the faint glow coming from them slowly became brighter.
After walking for some time, they reached a deeper part of the mountain where the path suddenly widened into a hidden chamber. The surrounding rocks were covered with strange plants and herbs that Ethan had never seen before. Some of them had faint spiritual light flowing through their leaves while others gave off a refreshing fragrance.
At the center of the chamber was a small spring. The water inside was unusually clear and a layer of condensed dew floated above its surface. The dew contained dense Qi and slowly gathered together before sinking back into the spring.
However, that was not what caught their attention.
A few steps away from the spring, the space itself was slightly distorted.
A small turbulent patch of space floated there like a thin crack in the air. It was not large enough for a person to pass through but strange energy was constantly flowing out from it. The surrounding air trembled whenever the energy entered this world.
Gu Cheng stared at the turbulent space with wide eyes. His breathing became faster as he stepped closer.
"This is it!" Gu Cheng shouted excitedly.
Ethan and Henna immediately looked toward him.
"The void is weak here... I think it leads to my world." Gu Cheng shouted excitedly as he looked at the turbulent space.
Henna's expression suddenly became pale. She immediately stepped forward and raised her hand.
"Sir Gu Cheng, please calm down a bit."
Gu Cheng looked toward her but his eyes still remained fixed on the turbulent void.
"You can't just break the void and connect the two worlds. Who knows what kind of unforeseeable things might happen."
Ethan also nodded as he agreed with Henna's words.
"She is right, Daoist Gu. We don't know if you can reach the other side perfectly and even if you can, what if cultivators may force their way here? Taking on too many cultivators would be a big problem for this land."
Gu Cheng's expression changed a bit when he heard this. His excitement slowly faded as he looked at the turbulent space again.
A war between the continents.
He really didn't want to see that happening, especially when he might be the reason behind why this happened.
Gu Cheng lowered his head and remained silent for a moment. His hands slowly tightened before relaxing again.
"Daoist Gu, you cultivators have very long lifespans. So wasting a year or two won't make a change. Why don't we think about this thoroughly before doing anything?" Ethan suggested.
Gu Cheng pondered over it for a while before finally nodding.
"Then what should we do about this? I planned to inform the Church about it. We can't leave this turbulent patch of land."
Ethan rubbed his forehead as he felt a headache coming.
Just then, the communicator suddenly rang.
"Wait a minute!"
Ethan turned around and moved out a bit. He took out the communication crystal and activated it.
The crystal glowed and a familiar figure soon appeared within it.
It was Queen Ophelia.
Ethan straightened his posture and gave a slight nod.
"Greetings, Your Majesty."
On the other side, Queen Ophelia looked at him through the communication crystal. Her eyes soon moved away from Ethan as she took a look at the strange surroundings behind him.
"Ethan, I am calling you because we want to talk about the unidentified person. That person is clearly dangerous and a threat we don't know of. We, Emperors, wanted to know where is he and what's he doing now?
The moment he heard this, Ethan felt as if a fish bone was stuck in his throat.
His eyes slowly shifted toward Gu Cheng and then toward Henna.
Now what should he do?
Ethan was truly troubled this time.
He didn't know what these Emperors would do. Knowing how insane these people had been, who knew if they even wanted to invade the Cultivation Continent and start another war.
Knowing their current condition, it might not be possible now but it might be possible in the future.
Ethan thought for a moment before asking, "Your Majesty, what decision did you arrive at?"
"We wanted to know who he is and what faction he belongs to. After all, someone at such a level can't be anonymous, can he?"
"He must have left behind some footprints, right?"
Ethan sucked in a cold breath.
"Give me a minute, Your Majesty."
Leaving the crystal there, he quickly walked toward Saintess Henna.
Henna had been observing the entire place when she was startled as Ethan suddenly sprang up and approached her.
"Lady Henna, I am in deep trouble. What should I do?"
"The Emperors are asking me about Gu Cheng. What should I say?"
Henna thought for a moment before speaking, "We can't hide it for long. Though it's safe for now, if something dangerous happens, we need the strength of the entire world to resist."
"This..." Ethan hesitated before speaking.
Henna saw through Ethan and smiled faintly. "You don't need to worry about that. Though the Church of Light does not involve itself in secular matters, invading another world is entirely a different thing. We will act immediately."
