Seeing the grand battle between the endless horde of monsters pouring out one after another through the mountain gaps, Ethan frowned deeply while his eyes swept across the battlefield. The monsters just kept coming without showing any sign of slowing down. Every time a group was cut down, another group rushed out from behind. The entire battlefield had already turned into complete chaos while the soldiers desperately fought to stop the advancing tide.
"Just what the hell is going on?"
His voice carried both confusion and disbelief.
"Where are these monsters coming out from?"
Even Ethan was taken aback by the sudden outpour of monsters. The number was simply too large. It looked as though someone had opened a gate and released every monster hidden inside the mountains.
Noel quickly arrived beside him while cutting down several charging monsters with a single swing of his sword. Blood splashed across the ground before he turned toward Ethan.
"From the news I received... they are coming out from the passage."
His expression remained serious.
"The scouts reported that several mountain passages suddenly became active. The monsters have been pouring out from there ever since."
Ethan narrowed his eyes while looking toward the distant mountains.
"The passage..."
He quietly repeated those words while countless thoughts flashed through his mind.
For a brief moment, he wondered whether he should personally make a move or continue standing by. Many of the high-ranking experts had remained on guard because nobody knew whether this monster tide was simply a coincidence or part of a much bigger plan.
However, when his gaze shifted toward the battlefield, he saw the Order of Eternal Blade struggling to contain the overwhelming number of monsters. Randall, Noel, Maverick, and the others continued fighting without stopping while more monsters rushed toward them from every direction. Although they were holding their ground, the pressure upon them continued increasing every second.
Ethan let out a slow breath.
"I can't just stand here."
The next moment...
SWISH!
His body slowly rose into the air before shooting forward with terrifying speed. A loud sonic boom echoed behind him while powerful air waves spread across the battlefield. His figure became nothing more than a streak of light that tore through the sky.
As he flew, Ethan casually raised one hand.
Several magic circles instantly appeared before him.Without even slowing down, he flicked his fingers.
Dozens of blazing fire spears shot downward like falling meteors and exploded among the charging monsters. The violent blasts threw countless beasts into the air while the surrounding ground cracked apart from the impact. Before the smoke had even settled, Ethan waved his hand again.
Sharp blades of wind swept across another section of the battlefield.
The invisible attacks sliced through the charging monsters and opened a clear path ahead. Several giant Iron Horn Boars collapsed after losing their balance while packs of Shadow Wolves were thrown backward by the powerful gusts.
Ethan never stopped moving.
His figure continued rushing toward the mountains while every spell he cast cleared another section of monsters. Bright flashes of lightning struck the ground one after another while pillars of fire erupted across the battlefield. Rocks shattered. Trees collapsed. Dust filled the air while the monsters behind him were left in complete disorder.
The Arcadian soldiers looked up in surprise as they watched Ethan forcefully carve a path straight through the endless monster tide.
"He is heading toward the source!"
One knight shouted.
Another soldier clenched his weapon even tighter.
"Hold the line!"
"We'll leave the rest to Lord Ethan!"
The closer Ethan moved toward the mountain range, the fewer soldiers he saw. The sounds of battle gradually faded behind him while the surrounding land became increasingly lifeless. Broken rocks, shattered trees, and deep claw marks covered the ground. The air itself began feeling heavier while a strange rotten smell slowly drifted through the wind.
His expression gradually became serious.
Soon...
He finally arrived near the mountain passage.
The moment he looked ahead, his pupils slightly contracted.
The land before him had completely changed.
Dark mist slowly drifted through the mountain valley while the surrounding rocks had turned black as though they had been corrupted by something. The earth itself looked rotten, and patches of dark substance covered the ground while strange cracks spread in every direction.
More importantly...
Several enormous dimensional rifts floated above the valley.
They continuously distorted the surrounding space while monsters endlessly poured out from within them. Roars echoed across the mountains while wave after wave of beasts rushed toward the battlefield below without pause.
Ethan quietly looked at the horrifying scene before narrowing his eyes.
"I see..."
His voice became much colder.
"So these are the sources of the trouble."
A few moments after Ethan arrived, several powerful figures quickly followed behind him. One after another, Duke Osantra,Count Helios, the Saint Knights, and several high-ranking nobles crossed the battlefield while cutting through the remaining monsters that blocked their path. Their figures flashed across the sky before they finally landed near Ethan.
The moment their eyes fell upon the valley ahead, every one of them stopped.
Silence spread among the group.
Even Duke Osantra's usually calm face became serious.
The valley before them looked nothing like an ordinary battlefield. Several huge dungeon gates floated in the air while space around them twisted continuously. Endless monsters kept pouring out without stopping. Roars echoed across the mountains while one wave of monsters had barely left the gates before another immediately followed behind.
However...
That was not what truly shocked them.
Their eyes slowly shifted toward the black mist covering the entire valley.
The dark miasma drifted across the land like living smoke. It spread through the broken rocks, seeped into the cracked ground, and covered almost every corner of the valley. Wherever the miasma passed, the earth slowly turned black while plants withered away and even the nearby stones showed signs of corrosion.
More frightening than that...
Every monster coming into contact with the miasma suddenly became much more violent.
Their eyes turned blood red.Their muscles visibly swelled.Their roars became louder while their movements grew faster and fiercer.
Several monsters that had already suffered heavy injuries suddenly stood back up and charged again as though they no longer felt pain.
One Saint Knight frowned deeply.
"What the hell is this?"
Another noble stared at the battlefield with disbelief.
"Those monsters... they are becoming stronger."
