Chapter 1979 Chapter 1971: Mote of Heaven

"DIBS!"

The journey toward the Outer Stellar Battlefield of Order proved to be significantly more grueling and lengthy than the transit to the Inner Battlefields after departing from the access formation. This left Wei Wuyin with four hours of forced inactivity. He spent this interval scrutinizing the speck of heavenly light that Wen Mingna had provided.

"Her perception is sharp, but her techniques are truly defiant and cunning," Wei Wuyin noted, his voice filled with genuine respect.

"You were the one who altered her Cultivation Method," Magus pointed out, reminding him of the source of Wen Mingna’s unique state. Her technique had been infused with a profound comprehension of the Heavenly Daos, bolstered by the insights of an individual brave enough to peer into celestial mysteries. Defiant? Cunning? Wei Wuyin was essentially describing his own path. Beyond being defiant, the Heavenly Daos had already branded an Exploitative Blessed as naturally devious.

This label had been placed upon him long before the Bloodline of Sin was inherited, serving as a reflection of his true character.

"That I did," Wei Wuyin admitted with a sense of pride. "Yet, she is the one actively refining her fate arts and divination spells. She is literally draining the foundational fortune of San Yongli." While speaking, his Samsara Soul Spiritual Incarnation manipulated the golden speck within the Primordial Expanse. He decided to name it the Mote of Heaven.

Upon investigating this fragment of incredibly concentrated heavenly light, he detected the principles of the Law of Time. Specifically, he found traces of a Substantial Future paired with an inferior grade of Akashic Energy that could not compare to his own.

To master the Law of Time and form a Seed of Law, a cultivator needed to experience either an 'Actualized Future' or a 'Substantial Past.'

Actualized meant the event had truly occurred!

Substantial meant it possessed the potential to happen!

San Yongli had been yanked from an Actualized Future and placed into a Substantial Past. These two energy types were polar opposites on the temporal scale, often resulting in the creation of paradoxical energies. In the current era, cultivation societies have progressed enough to find ways to encounter such phenomena, much like his experiences during the Endless Void Realm trials.

"This implies she possesses foresight," Wei Wuyin mused, having always been intrigued by her blessing—the 'piece of heaven' mentioned by the Black Skeleton. Was the power to see the future her true gift? "So, she can forecast destiny!"

As he probed the energy further, he realized it functioned as a receptor for the Heavenly Daos. His gaze sharpened instantly. "It isn't just predicting destiny; she can intercept the intentions and plots of the Heavenly Daos! Particularly regarding the Blessed! How terrifying!"

Within the Mote of Heaven, symbols written in a rare temporal script shifted and transformed. It detailed a female Blessed’s path, including her rise to become a Mystic Overlord, her role in leading her Stellar Region through a massive conflict, and the dawn of a new era. It laid out the exact timeline and the specific blessings she was meant to find to fulfill the legend written for her by the Heavenly Daos. It read like a pre-written biography. Only a few specifics were missing; while it listed her future titles, it did not explicitly name her or her current status.

Even as a mere Mote of Heaven, the information it held was staggering. She was truly usurping the destiny of others.

"How ironic. A thief who steals fortune before it even arrives is now being robbed herself. That’s my girl," Wei Wuyin felt a surge of pride while handling the Mote of Heaven. The data was valuable, but the purity of the Heavenly Radiance was even more significant.

He had never seen anything like it—except perhaps once or twice before: the Karmic Sky. That was the magnificent display of an Empyrean’s blessing that lit up the heavens. Looking at his Bloodline of Sin tattoo, a wild thought took root in his mind.

Could he... isolate his own Karmic Luck to produce Heavenly Radiance?

Magus seemed to catch his drift, its breathing becoming heavy and erratic: "Heaven’s Gate." As if their thoughts were perfectly aligned, they both envisioned the same possibility.

What if...

What if this specific quality of Heavenly Radiance was used to build their future Heaven’s Gate? Or perhaps to upgrade Athena’s current Heaven’s Gate? Currently, Athena’s Heaven’s Gate was incomprehensible in size, yet in terms of its essence, it was fundamentally the same as any other. This wasn't because his paragonic path lacked power, but because all Heaven’s Gates hit a 'hard limit.' Usually, only size differentiated the average from the elite, even among demonic geniuses.

But the quality of the gate itself...

That was an entirely different playing field!

Athena, the two Bai Xius, and Element all reacted to the Mote of Heaven. It made sense for Athena and the Bai Xius, as Spirits of Dao who drew power from the Heavenly Realms. However, Element’s reaction was surprising. As a Nascent Saber Soul, it wasn't a Spirit of Dao, though it was a close equivalent.

He saw four potential ways to utilize this Mote of Heaven. The mote itself was just a start; the real breakthrough was discovering what physical heavenly radiance could do for these Spirits of Dao and his Nascent Soul.

'If I can harvest this energy, can I evolve Element and the others?' Wei Wuyin wondered. Suddenly, Magus nudged his Sea of Consciousness.

"Your Heaven’s Gate! Our Heaven’s Ga—mghm!" Magus was abruptly cut off. Wei Wuyin turned his attention to Magus, whose Mystic Form was being forcibly held back by the four Mystic Souls.

"What are you four up to?" Wei Wuyin questioned.

The Mystic Form of Magus vibrated, but aside from some muffled noises, it couldn't speak. Wei Wuyin sensed that his mischievous Mystic Souls were cooking up something daring. Before he could investigate, Eden spoke up: "Will you give the Mote of Heaven to Athena or the sisters?"

Wei Wuyin’s focus shifted to the choice at hand. The Mote of Heaven would clearly provide a boost, but he wasn't sure by how much, or if he should save it until Wen Mingna finished her task. However, this single mote wasn't enough to satisfy him, and Wen Mingna had left a specific message.

Two simple words: "Trust" and "Taste."

The first word was clear. She wanted him to keep his distance and let her handle things. San Yongli and Tian Yinwu were Blessed individuals who were growing at an explosive rate, and there was a risk that her 'piece of heaven' might cause issues if she wasn't careful.

She was being cautious, wanting to avoid disrupting the delicate balance she had established. Furthermore, she didn't know his current power level or social standing.

When she extracted this, he had been wandering the lesser galaxies to build his strength; she had no idea he could likely finish her mission instantly through raw power. But doing so would rob her of the chance to master the art of draining a Blessed's fortune. He wanted her to have that experience. It would be invaluable if he ever faced ancient Empyreans, unlike the recently ascended Su Yi.

As for "taste," that was an instruction for the Mote of Heaven. She wanted him to test its properties. It was stabilized under several seals, making it safe to handle without backlash. She had successfully tamed a fortune intended for San Yongli. It was an incredible feat.

"Element! Element!" Ori chirped. Its favoritism was obvious, as it viewed Element almost like a child shared with King. Wei Wuyin was inclined to agree. He suspected the Mote of Heaven could refine Athena’s Heaven’s Gate or help the Bai Xius create Mystic-Heaven grade items, but Element’s reaction was the biggest unknown.

"Eat," Element’s voice pleaded. Its consciousness was expanding. Was it turning into a Daospark? That thought caused Wei Wuyin to freeze in realization.

What was the origin of Heavenly Daosparks? They weren't standard Heavenly Treasures. Did they originate from... Nascent Souls? Even Magus had no answer for this. No record or memory he possessed explained the creation of Heavenly Daosparks.

If Element could eventually resonate with its own Dao of creation, much like Athena or Bai Xiu, would it become a Spirit of Dao? Despite its Profound Saber Energy and Meridians, Element was a blend of various Daos from Ori and King. The potential of it becoming a Spirit of Dao was fascinating.

"It's yours," he decided, feeding the Mote of Heaven to Element. He needed to see the outcome. He had planned for Element to consume high-grade War Souls to reach the fifth level, but this might lead to something even better. Improving its Profound Saber Energy usually only changed the quality, but this might be the catalyst for a fundamental evolution.

Element’s form manifested within the Primordial Expanse. Since it was a physical realm Wei Wuyin carried, a spiritual projection wasn't necessary. The Mote of Heaven drifted toward the blade's edge. As soon as it touched, a violent flash of golden light exploded, forcing Wei Wuyin’s Incarnation to dissolve.

Watching the chaotic energy within the Primordial Expanse, Wei Wuyin’s curiosity peaked.

He then wondered why the Bai Xius and Athena hadn't argued for the mote. A sudden suspicion crossed his mind. Sending a Mental Incarnation to his Mind’s Eye, he found the three Spirits of Dao huddled together in the solar essence of Little Defiant, deep in some secret meeting.

His suspicions deepened.

Ultimately, he didn't press them. Since they hadn't protested his choice, there was surely a logical explanation.

Wei Wuyin didn't realize that the explanation was far simpler than he thought: Ori had already called dibs!
