"A strange feeling washes over me. Why this unease?" Qin Feng murmured, his brow furrowed deeply. His gaze swept the surroundings as he cautiously advanced towards the treeline.
Within the dense woods, shrouded in darkness that encircled Qin Feng, three individuals from the West Gate Sect were observed moving stealthily. They were part of a scattered group, their eyes constantly probing every corner. These individuals were clad in diverse attire, clearly not affiliated with any single known faction.
Qin Feng remained motionless, a silent observer.
After concealing himself for a full thirty minutes, Qin Feng finally discerned their identities and objectives from their hushed conversation.
"These are members of the Xifu Sect. How unusual for ordinary individuals to be in this place," Qin Feng mused, perplexed.
As one of Ling Xuejing’s disciples turned, Qin Feng seized the moment. The Xifu Sect disciple felt a fleeting shadow, followed by a sharp pain in his throat. His consciousness rapidly dimmed.
Another Xifu Sect disciple detected the rustle of leaves and suddenly cried out, his voice trembling with alarm, "Something’s not right!"
Hearing his panicked shout, those who had just begun to rest were startled. A Xifu Sect disciple scoffed, chiding the panicked man, "You were worn out by a woman last night. This is the outer reaches of Canghong Mountain. What’s the big deal?"
Before the curse fully left his lips, the Xifu Sect disciples witnessed their companion lying lifeless in a pool of blood. Moments later, a cold gleam flashed. With incredible speed, before the disciple could utter another word, his voice was choked off.
The two Xifu Sect disciples met their end with lightning-like swiftness. Qin Feng's body moved with uncanny precision. He raised his hand, and a long sword sprang forth. The furthest Xifu Sect disciple was impaled by the sword, pinned against the tree behind him.
In a mere ten seconds, three Xifu Sect members were effortlessly dispatched by Qin Feng. The remaining individuals finally snapped back to reality.
"Do not move. Do not make a sound, or you will perish," Qin Feng declared icily. "Your brazen intrusion into Canghong Mountain with such force is not a trivial matter."
Even as Qin Feng spoke, brilliant fireworks suddenly illuminated the sky with crackling bursts emanating from all directions.
"Blast it, there are people everywhere!" Qin Feng’s expression shifted drastically as he turned to flee.
With a swift movement, Qin Feng bolted, several arrows simultaneously whistling from the dense foliage behind him. At this precise moment, all the Xifu Sect disciples converged into the dense woods where Qin Feng had been.
"Damn it, why are there so many people!" Qin Feng glanced at the growing number of pursuers, his lips curling in a grimace. With nimble agility, he continued his dash through the low-lying vegetation.
"Capture that brat, and you’ll be promoted to Elder, with a reward of one million Spirit Stones!" The voice pursuing him reached Qin Feng, who was desperately sprinting ahead. He glimpsed the ever-increasing crowd behind him from the corner of his eye. His face contorted slightly as he cursed under his breath, "How treacherous."
Qin Feng's body weaved through the dense forest. He surveyed his surroundings before heading deeper into Canghong Mountain.
"Bring it on. I want to see more of you. There are plenty of beasts in the depths," a cold smile played on his lips. Qin Feng lowered his head and charged forward once more.
"Boy. Let’s see how you escape today?" Suddenly, a burly man with long, unkempt hair erupted from the trees behind him. His voice was chilling, laced with intense fury, echoing through the dense forest like a lion's roar.
Qin Feng paid no heed to this empty threat, choosing his own path forward.
Noticing Qin Feng's disregard for his words, Elder Pei Hongqing of the West Gate Village wiped his mouth. He narrowed his eyes, observing the widening gap behind him with a frown. Qin Feng's pace was unexpectedly rapid.
He exhaled slowly. Pei Hongqing's body trembled slightly, enveloped in a pale blue aura. A low command boomed from his throat, "Those ahead, encircle him."
Responding to his command, three individuals nearby let out guttural sounds, drawing the weapons from their waists, their gazes sharp and stern.
"Jian Yi, is that you!" Abruptly, an enraged shout pierced the air.
"Hmm?" Qin Feng's brow furrowed as he turned towards the sound.
"How did you get here?" Qin Feng expressed his surprise upon seeing the girl before him. This was none other than Ding Hao's daughter, Ding Shan, with whom he shared a past connection.
"Enough! I’m going to kill you!" Ding Shan was the only one not holding a weapon. But as Qin Feng noticed, she immediately drew her sword. It took her a couple of tries to unsheathe it, leaving her slightly red-faced.
"Kill you!" Ding Shan declared with a cute cry, charging directly at Qin Feng without further thought.
"Qin Feng, why do you want to kill me?" Ding Shan’s slender wrist was easily caught by Qin Feng. He felt a pang of confusion. This was a naive girl, once carefree and happy, guided by her parents, and who had shown some affection towards Tiantian. Now, she was intent on taking his life, her eyes burning with hatred.
"I will kill you, I will kill you!" Regardless of anything, Ding Shan continued to struggle fiercely. Her four companions exchanged glances, swiftly encircling Qin Feng. It was clear they wouldn't allow Ding Shan to be bullied alone.
Qin Feng turned, his voice laced with concern, "I don’t have time to deal with you. If you don’t want to die, then leave this place!"
"Hmph, how could we possibly die?" "Why should we believe your baseless words?" The most imposing man among them let out a cold snicker. Clearly, Ding Shan’s murderous intent towards Qin Feng had soured their own disposition towards him.
"There are many pursuers closing in on me. If you choose not to leave and become entangled, do not hold me responsible," Qin Feng explained with patience.
It echoed the saying,
