Nial leveraged his century of knowledge about his golden and silver eyes to strategize against the Advocate of the Pryard. He realized that an information overflow could be the key to defeating her, as her Divinity might not account for the need to discard useless data. Nial planned to create an opportunity by provoking her, then combining Psy's power with his enhanced Dominion ability for a finishing blow. He taunted the Advocate, drawing her attention and preparing for her inevitable, overwhelming assault.

Fierce, explosive sounds echoed throughout the divine realm of the Advocate's domain.

Nial was struck by divine beams that drilled holes through the darkness and golden scales encasing his body. He remained alive, his injuries not proving fatal.

Nevertheless, the impact of the assault was harrowing. He was propelled backward by the explosions' aftermath and by bullet-like orbs that struck him moments after the divine beams.

The divine orbs stripped away most of the golden scales covering his upper body before reaching his bare skin. Nial contorted his form, wielding the Eternal Darkness Spear to impale and ultimately obliterate them.

However, this did not mean he emerged unscathed.

One of the two divine orbs burrowed into his left shoulder, carving a deep gash. He coughed up blood, staggering as the immense pain radiated towards his head.

‘Damn this… This wasn’t the plan to play it down…

Nial's expression darkened. His intention was to feign minor injuries to lower the Advocate's guard, not to end up with a shoulder wound the size of a fist.

This was certainly not how he had envisioned it!

It might have been manageable before, but without sufficient reinforced dark energy to seal his wound, he would have to endure the agony. Crimson Chaos and Darkness were unsuitable for treating the injury; they weren't even potent enough to stem the bleeding.

The fundamental properties of these energies were ill-suited for such a task. Nial's sole advantage lay in his innate healing capabilities. His physique had once been fortified by the Titan Heart he consumed, and he had been bestowed the Blessing of the Fairies. To further enhance this, he also possessed the Symbol of Life, which had been augmented upon transforming into the Heart of Darkness.

The Heart of Darkness subsequently evolved, becoming the Heart of Gluttony, his very Divinity. With all these enhancements, his natural regeneration was quite formidable.

A mere hole in his shoulder would not prove fatal, and he could continue fighting… though the pain would be considerable.

‘It’s impossible to approach her without sustaining further injuries… and this area-of-effect assault like before is also a major nuisance…’ Nial grumbled internally, finding solace only in the apparent difficulty the Advocate faced in conjuring the divine orbs. They evidently demanded a prodigious amount of divine energy to materialize.

‘Should I strike now?’

Nial hesitated.

Yet, the Advocate of the Pryard was also in a state of indecision.

She was displeased with the current turn of events. Her original strategy was to inflict grievous wounds with the divine beams and then deliver a finishing blow with the divine orbs. After all, manifesting them required more than three-quarters of her amassed divine energy!

While she could replenish her divine energy by absorbing the surrounding ambient power, this process would inevitably take time. Repeating such a devastating attack was not an option in the immediate future.

Nial needed to leverage this situation. If the Advocate grew even slightly more weary and let her guard down, victory would undoubtedly be his!!

Several pairs of wings unfurled from the Advocate of the Pryard's back, emitting a peculiar luminescence that drew in the surrounding divine energy.

Nial perceived this shift thanks to his control over darkness, causing his brow to furrow deeply.

‘Does she have another underhanded tactic in store?’

Nial reacted swiftly. He utilized a portion of his sustenance to reconstitute the damaged golden scales. Following this, he consumed fragments of his abundant nutrition to generate additional darkness.

He then employed Grasp of Eclipse, conjured from this darkness. Vanishing from his prior location, Nial materialized above the Advocate of the Pryard. A faint smile touched his lips as he thrust forward.

The Eternal Darkness Spear unleashed a torrent of crimson chaos that sliced through the Advocate's wings. His assault was directed at the strange luminescence she emanated. Upon piercing it, the peculiar light warped. It reacted to the lingering traces of crimson chaos clinging to it.

The distortion of the strange light intensified, and it became evident that the light was undergoing a transformation. It shifted to a slightly reddish hue.

In the moments that followed, Nial struck out multiple times in rapid succession before vanishing once more.

His form reappeared in its original position. Blood seeped from the regrown scales, but he disregarded the injury to his left shoulder. There was nothing he could do about it at present.

Nial's Eternal Darkness Spear had impaled each origin point of the strange light. He had corrupted them by infusing his crimson chaos. Consequently, the subsequent reaction unfolded as follows:

Firstly, the strange light was rendered incapable of absorbing divine energy.

Secondly, crimson chaos began to permeate the Advocate of the Pryard. She was compelled to expend Divine energy to prevent its encroachment upon her body. Retracting the strange light was also not a viable option; she had no desire to invite this infestation within herself!

The Advocate's eyes widened in astonishment. She had anticipated Nial's weakening, not for him to suddenly launch an attack by consuming even more of his already dwindling life force.

Was he intending to end his own life?

The Dark Successor absolutely had to seem suicidal, to do everything in his power. Otherwise, he would face defeat… and defeat was not an option for him.

Nial's Familiars perceived his actions. They attempted to lend him aid through various means, but all Goldy could manage was to concentrate his full focus on reinforcing the golden scales Nial had summoned. Psy, on the other hand, could only endeavor to refine the power that had been dormant within his body for centuries.

Nial registered their efforts to assist, but he could not utilize them at this moment. He gathered the encroaching Darkness at the tip of the Eternal Darkness Spear and thrust it outwards once more.

The Advocate attempted to evade the assault, but found herself momentarily ensnared in place. It was only then that she discerned the dark ropes binding her wings.

A frown creased her brow, yet she lowered her center of gravity before raising her hands. A formidable surge of divine energy erupted from her palms, coalescing into a massive shield.

What transpired next caused her frown to deepen.

The Advocate was forced backward.

The divine energy comprising her shield was being depleted at an alarming rate.

Nial understood that the greater the amount of divine energy she expended now, the simpler it would be to shatter the protective barrier enveloping her body.

Consequently, this shift in the battle's progression brought a slight smile to his lips.

'Come now. Unleash your divinity!!' he implored silently in his heart.

The sensation of fighting a losing battle vanished as if it had never been, and the edges of his lips curved upwards.

Darkness began to consume the divine realm.

Resounding explosions marked Nial's release of more darkness. He shaped it into sharp needles and hurled them towards the Advocate of the Pryard.

Naturally, these needles were no ordinary projectiles.

The darkness he manifested was a creation born from Hodur's Heir, a curse potent enough to devour even crimson chaos.

Should the Curse of Hodur's Heir manage to penetrate the Advocate's body, his intended plan stood a significantly higher chance of success.

Hodur's Heir served to diminish the senses of those afflicted by the dark mist.

When the darkness eventually receded, a thunderous roar once again filled the atmosphere. Nial's needles had successfully pierced the Advocate's protective layer before falling to the ground, rendered inert.

Nial clicked his tongue upon hearing and sensing the failure of his attack, but he was unconcerned.

He had discovered something intriguing.

'It appears your barrier is far from impenetrable.'
