Grey turned to find Lyris of the Celestial Covenant standing several meters away.

Her silver hair caught the red light of the volcanoes, and her eyes held genuine surprise.

She had entered the realm just moments before him, it seemed.

"It’s you from that Dimensional Conquest game." Grey stroked his fake beard with a faint smile. "What a coincidence."

Lyris studied him with curious eyes.

"I knew you were not ordinary, Elder. To think I would find you here."

Grey just chuckled.

"I’m sure I won’t be the only one here. This place will be flooded soon."

"Yes, you are right," Lyris said with a soft nod. "But this Chaos Realm is extremely dangerous."

"I came here with my Celestial Covenant’s Reality Ship, but I got separated from them and landed here."

"Is that so?" Grey appeared thoughtful.

"Yes. We should move together, Elder. The dimensions here are extremely unstable, similar to the Dimensional Quest. We need to traverse carefully."

"But why would we do that?" Grey asked. "We are not even that close. In fact, are you not afraid of me betraying you? And I wouldn’t trust you with it either."

Hearing this, Lyris shook her head.

"We of the Celestial Covenant would never do such a thing as betraying others. It’s against our code. We follow the Philosophy of Harmonious Exchange, the belief that all transactions between beings should leave both parties happy. We are an alchemy faction because we want to help people. It’s deeply rooted in our culture. We despise war and bloodshed."

"I promise on the blood of the Celestial Covenant that I won’t betray you."

"Interesting." Grey raised one of his eyes in surprise.

People like her were a rare breed in the world of evolvers.

"Alright, Princess Lyris. You can tag along."

"Thank you, Elder. I knew my judgement of you was right."

"Oh?" Grey raised an eyebrow. "And what was your judgement of me?"

"Someone who is experienced, as old as the heavens, and someone that is inherently not a bad person."

Grey blinked hearing this.

As old as the heavens?

For some reason, instead of feeling flattered, he felt more offended by her words.

He was only 18 years old! Damn you!

He could see Lyris’s soul age. It was over 10,000. 10,203 to be precise.

Compared to that, his age was just a drop in the ocean!

But reaching a 12th rank combat score in 10,000 years was impressive.

She was definitely hiding some of her powers, and perhaps she had a golden finger?

Whatever the case was, he will think about it later. Now it was time to head out and explore.

"Let’s get going now," he said.

They set off immediately, moving through the volcanic landscape with careful steps.

This place worked like Dimensional Conquest. One wrong step could send them to a completely different location within the realm.

The ground shifted beneath their feet with every movement. The World folded and twisted in unpredictable ways, making navigation treacherous.

Lyris moved beside him, her violet eyes scanning their surroundings.

"The dimensional instability here is extra severe," she said. "We need to be careful."

But luckily, both of them were good at Dimensional Conquest. It would not be hard for them as long as they tried.

They traveled for what felt like hours, avoiding unstable zones and dead ends.

Then they found something.

Unfortunately, it was not a treasure.

A creature blocked their path.

It was a massive blue insect-like beast, its body covered in hard armoured plates that gleamed under the crimson sky. Six thin legs supported its bulk while two enormous wings folded against its back.

Its head was grotesque, filled with rows of sharp teeth and long curved fangs. Two feelers extended from its skull, twitching in the air. Dark eyes fixed on them with predatory hunger.

Grey’s face twitched seeing it.

"Ugh, I feel like vomiting seeing it. What the hell is that thing?"

Lyris tilted her head with genuine confusion.

"What’s a vomit, Elder?"

"Don’t mind me," Grey coughed and focused on the creature more closely.

Then he noticed something strange on top of the beast.

A Buddha statue sat upon its back, serene and golden, completely out of place on such an ugly creature.

"A Buddha statue?" Grey stared in disbelief. "What is that doing there?"

The beast sensed their presence and screeched.

The sound tore through the air like breaking glass, distorting the space around them. Shockwaves rippled outward from its mouth, cracking the volcanic rocks beneath their feet.

It charged forward with shocking speed, its six legs churning the ground into dust. The wings on its back buzzed with violent energy, creating a low hum that made Grey’s teeth ache.

Grey was taken aback by this.

It was ignoring the dimensional disruption around them.

No, a zone had formed, making this place stable.

But now was not the time to focus on that.

This thing was coming at them and it actually managed to slip past his vision!

He activated the Chaos Annihilation Fist, channelling the destructive nature of Chaos into his strike.

His fist connected with the creature’s armoured head.

BOOM!

The impact sent out a shockwave that levelled the surrounding terrain. Volcanic rocks exploded into fragments, and a crater formed beneath the beast as it skidded backward, leaving deep gouges in the ground.

The beast however recovered instantly.

Its body flickered like a broken image, pixels of blue light scattering before reforming behind Grey. Fangs aimed at his neck, dripping with corrosive liquid that hissed as it hit the ground.

"What a pain in the ass," Grey muttered as he twisted away.

The creature could teleport short distances.

Every time he landed a solid hit, it would vanish in a burst of blue particles and reappear from a different angle. Its movements left afterimages that lingered in the air like ghosts.

Lyris soon joined the fight, her mental consciousness surging out as Intent Sculpting activated.

She was activating Chaos Spells.

Golden light erupted from her fingertips, weaving intricate patterns in the air. Celestial fire burst into existence around the beast, forming a cage of brilliant flames that burned with holy intensity. The fire roared and crackled, heat distorting the very fabric of space.

But the creature simply phased through, its body becoming translucent like morning mist. The flames passed harmlessly through its intangible form.

Grey gritted his teeth seeing this.

What the hell was this beast? It was ignoring the rules of this place and even phasing through attacks that would otherwise be able to hit intangible targets.

Were there like levels to intangibility?

But now that he roughly understood the pattern of this beast and its attacks, he knew what to do.

He activated the Dimensional Anchor Technique, locking down the space around the beast.

Invisible chains of spatial force wrapped around the creature, binding it to a fixed point in reality. The air itself seemed to solidify, forming a prison of frozen dimensions.

Its teleportation faltered, the creature screeching in frustration as its escape routes vanished. Blue particles flickered around its body but could not disperse.

"Attack together with me, Princess Lyris," Grey called out.

He gathered Axiom power into his palm.

The energy condensed over his palm amplifying it.

Lyris launched her own attack simultaneously, spiritual energy spiralling toward the trapped beast in streams of violet and gold. The two energies intertwined as they flew, creating a helix of destruction.

Both strikes landed perfectly.

Axiom Power drilled into the beast’s body first, tearing through its armoured plates like paper. The spiritual energy followed immediately after, flooding into the wounds and detonating from within.

CRACK!

The creature’s armour shattered into countless fragments that scattered across the volcanic ground. Light erupted from the cracks in its carapace as the combined energies rampaged through its insides.

It collapsed with a final screech, its massive body crashing to the ground. The impact sent tremors through the earth, dust and debris rising in a cloud around them.

"Finally," Grey clicked his tongue. "That thing was annoying."

Then the Buddha statue rolled off the beast’s corpse.

It tumbled across the ground before stopping.

Seeing this, Grey slowly began walking towards it. He was very curious as to why this ugly beast was carrying a Buddha statue on its back.

Just then, the statue’s eyes suddenly glowed with brilliant golden light.

The glow intensified rapidly, spreading from the eyes to cover the entire statue. Golden radiance poured out in waves, illuminating the volcanic landscape in warm light that contrasted sharply with the crimson sky.

Eerie chanting filled the air.

Buddhist sutras echoed across the realm in voices that seemed to come from everywhere at once.

The words resonated through Grey’s very being, vibrating at frequencies that touched his source directly.

As the chant continued, the Saint Halo within him begin stirring.
