Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation Chapter 653: Last days on the Caravan (14)
Previously on Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation...
The afternoon had passed faster than Kyrian expected, the hours flowing like water through his fingers as he devoted himself to forging.
The interior of Sun Luguo’s workshop remained filled with the heat of the furnace, a constant presence that seemed to have become part of his very being. The sound of hammering continuously echoed through the stone walls, a hypnotic rhythm that lulled his thoughts.
’Clang!’ Kyrian raised the hammer and struck again, his movements precise and confident.
’Clang!’ The piece of metal on the workbench had already been heated and cooled several times, each cycle refining its structure, each strike adding a new layer of understanding.
Each strike was accompanied by a small amount of Qi, carefully controlled to penetrate the material at the exact moment, like a seed being planted in fertile soil.
Sun Luguo remained beside him, observing, his experienced eyes following every movement of Kyrian with an attention that mixed pride and assessment. This time, however, his corrections were much less frequent, he spoke only when necessary, allowing Kyrian to find his own path through his mistakes and successes.
Kyrian had spent several days learning from him, absorbing every piece of information at a frightening speed, a sponge that knew no limits. Everything the old blacksmith had taught him about temperature, pressure, materials, Qi circulation, the structure of spiritual weapons, and the integration between metal and energy had already been deeply engraved in his mind. Each lesson was a layer of knowledge added to those that came before.
There was still an enormous distance between understanding the principles and becoming a true master, Kyrian knew that. But he had learned everything Sun Luguo could teach him in that short period, and that was enough for now.
’Clang!’ The final strike fell, the sound echoing through the workshop before dissipating into the hot air.
Kyrian moved the hammer away and observed the piece before him, his breathing calm, his eyes evaluating the result with silent criticism. Sun Luguo slowly approached, his heavy footsteps echoing across the stone floor. He picked up the weapon and examined it from every angle, his fingers running across the surface, feeling every curve, every texture, every vibration of energy.
It was not an extraordinary weapon, it was merely another low-rank spiritual dagger, simple and functional. But compared to the first weapons Kyrian had produced, the difference was enormous.
The structure was much more stable, spiritual Qi circulated through the blade with less resistance, and there was no excessive waste of energy. Even the balance of the weapon was much better, every detail refined by Kyrian’s growing understanding.
Sun Luguo ran a finger along the surface of the blade and then let out a low laugh, a sound that carried genuine satisfaction.
"You really have improved even more."
Kyrian smiled slightly, a gesture that softened his features.
"Thanks to your teachings."
"You don’t need to flatter me." Sun Luguo placed the dagger on the workbench, his calloused hands holding the metal with familiarity.
"I only taught you the principles. You were the one who managed to absorb everything."
He crossed his arms and observed Kyrian for a few seconds, his ancient eyes moving across the young man’s face with an expression that mixed admiration and something else, perhaps a touch of nostalgia, the memory of his own youth.
"To be honest, you are the most talented disciple I have ever taught."
Kyrian remained silent for a moment, the words lingering in the air. Those words were probably the greatest praise he could receive from that old man, a man who had seen countless apprentices pass through his workshop over the course of decades.
"I’m glad to hear that."
Sun Luguo laughed, the hoarse sound filling the workshop.
"Don’t be so serious." He slapped Kyrian on the shoulder, an affectionate gesture.
"I’m looking forward to the day when we meet again."
Kyrian looked at him, his violet eyes meeting the old man’s.
"If we have the opportunity."
"We will." Sun Luguo spoke with absolute confidence, his voice filled with a certainty that allowed no doubt.
"You’re going to the Central Region, aren’t you?"
"Yes."
"Then, someday, our paths will certainly cross again." The old blacksmith paused before continuing, his smile widening.
"And when that day comes, I hope you will have already become an even better blacksmith than I am."
Kyrian thought for a few seconds before replying, his voice calm.
"That will still take a few years."
Sun Luguo began to laugh, a booming laugh that echoed off the walls of the workshop.
"A few years? You really don’t know how to be modest."
Kyrian merely shrugged, a gesture that was more sincere than arrogant.
Sun Luguo continued laughing, shaking his head.
"If you keep improving at this speed, perhaps it really won’t take that long."
Kyrian did not reply, he knew there was still an enormous amount of knowledge he needed to learn. Spiritual forging was only one of the many paths that existed in the cultivation world, and he was only beginning to explore it. But now he possessed a solid foundation and, in the future, could continue improving it on his own.
Sun Luguo then seemed to remember something, his expression changing slightly.
"Are you going to participate in the last auction?"
Kyrian nodded.
"Yes."
"Any specific interest?"
"I need an item." Kyrian paused briefly.
"I heard about a comprehension artifact."
Sun Luguo raised an eyebrow, surprised.
"So you’ve already decided to participate."
"Yes."
"Great." The old blacksmith immediately walked toward the exit, his steps quick and determined.
"Then let’s go."
Kyrian blinked, caught off guard.
"Now?"
"Of course." Sun Luguo opened the workshop door, the light of dusk pouring into the space.
"The auction will begin in a few hours. If you keep standing around here, by the time we reach the square, we won’t be able to find a single spot. The crowd will be enormous."
Kyrian took one last look at the workshop, his hands still feeling the warmth of the metal, his eyes sweeping across the tools and weapons scattered along the walls. Then he left, following Sun Luguo outside.
The two walked through the streets of the city, and the difference compared to the previous days was astonishing. The entire city seemed to be moving in the same direction, a human river flowing toward the central square.
Tens or hundreds of thousands of people walked through the streets, some chatting excitedly, others carrying boxes and objects, while cultivators from different regions gathered in groups, their voices blending into a constant hum.
The Heavenly Descent Festival was truly coming to an end, with only the final major event remaining. The grand final auction.
