My Wife Is A Miracle Doctor In The 80s Chapter 3 - 3 – My Kidney is Yours

Previously on My Wife Is A Miracle Doctor In The 80s...
Tang Yuxin confronts her mother at what used to be her home, only to be met with hostility and a reminder of her recent divorce from Zhang Yong’an, along with news of her sister’s unexpected pregnancy. The strained family dynamics reveal betrayal and a deep sense of loss for Tang Yuxin, who feels utterly abandoned. As she grapples with her sorrow in the chilling autumn night, a reckless car speeds towards her, leading to a devastating accident. Meanwhile, Gu Ning rushes to the hospital, finding Tang Yuxin gravely injured, her body covered in blood, leaving her fate uncertain.

“What happened?”

“Mr… Mr. Gu…”

Tang Yuxin’s eyes flickered open, her voice barely a whisper.

As she reached out, her dark eyes appeared hollow, as if she could no longer see the world around her. She was conscious of her impending death. Being a doctor herself, she recognized that her skull was fractured beyond repair; any attempt at surgery would be futile. Her life had been an exhausting journey, and she lacked the will to persist. Even if she survived the operation, she would remain a shell of herself, only serving as a weight upon the man who genuinely cared for her.

A hand took hold of hers. It was a clean, warm hand, and she could sense the numerous hard calluses upon it. She mused that any woman protected by this man would be truly blessed.

And in this moment, she felt that blessing.

“Mr… Gu…” Aware that her final moments were approaching, she had words that needed to be spoken.

Just as Gu Ning prepared to respond, Tang Yuxin used the last of her energy to squeeze his fingers. “I am aware that I’m leaving… don’t try to save me…” She shed no tears. While many might tremble at the thought of death, she found it to be a form of liberation. Thirty-three years of life had been plenty.

“Mr. Gu…” After a strenuous effort, she managed to speak again, though blood trickled from her lips as her vitality ebbed away.

“Once I have passed…” she gasped, her breathing becoming shallow and labored, “Take my kidneys… both of them… they are for you. I have already confirmed… that we are… a match…” Her pupils began to widen, yet she forced herself to continue. If these words weren't spoken now, the opportunity would be lost forever.

“You will… find a better woman to stay by your side for the rest of your days. There is money in my bank account… and the driver must pay compensation… That is what my life is worth… Please, ensure all that money goes… to my father and tell him… I am so sorry….”

She opened her eyes one last time, but her sight was a blur, making it impossible to distinguish anything clearly. The only thing she could recognize was the faint scar near the corner of Gu Ning’s eye.

“I recall the first time our paths crossed; that scar wasn't by your eye yet. You only had one on your arm, where a beast had bitten you…” She kept talking, despite her vision failing completely. Her pupils continued to dilate, and her life force ebbed away as her voice grew increasingly faint.

“In those days, you just lay there, looking as if you were dead. I used my only handkerchief to wrap your injury and shared many stories with you until help arrived. When we met again, you were sickly…”

“Mr. Gu, do you believe… that I will go to heaven?”

Her grip tightened one final time as a large hand settled against her forehead. It felt as though she could hear celestial music, the most exquisite melody she had ever encountered. She believed then that heaven would welcome her.

Despite her clumsiness, her foolishness, and the pathetic life she had endured.

Suddenly, a long beep sounded as the monitor showed her heart had stopped. At thirty-three years old, she breathed her last, and the man who saw her off was Gu Ning—a man to whom she had no official ties.

Following her final request, her kidneys were harvested. Unfortunately, one had been ruined during the crash. The remaining one was transplanted into Gu Ning.
