My Vampire System Chapter 2540 The Decision Is Made
Previously on My Vampire System...
Quinn's emotions were a turbulent mess. Encountering Sam in such dire circumstances, right beside Bliss—someone he frankly found detestable—and near Mundus—an individual who had previously imprisoned him yet also acted as a former ally—left him feeling conflicted.
Claims and counter-claims were being volleyed by everyone present. While their words carried an air of truth, Quinn couldn't shake the suspicion that deliberate deceits lay buried within their arguments.
"I have made my choice; I am ending this right here!" Quinn bellowed. Launching himself into the air, he brought the massive drill crashing down toward Immortui.
Nearby, Mundus, Bliss, and the others watched as the orb shielding them flickered, prompting them to vanish from the vicinity immediately.
The colossal dark blood shadow drill struck Immortui, spinning relentlessly. The raw force of the strike shredded flesh bit by bit, disintegrating the material into pure energy that fed directly back into the drill.
"ARGHHH!" Quinn let out a roar as his demon form began fragmenting. His supernatural exterior crumbled away under the impact of the attack and the intense waves of energy battering him.
He had to be certain—this had to be the final end for Immortui. Quinn forced the massive drill deeper and deeper. The very crust of the gigantic planet splintered, with fissures racing rapidly across the surface.
As these cracks expanded, the violent energy caused everything to disintegrate. The drill hammered into the planet's core, triggering a massive energy discharge. Landscapes shattered, leaving only isolated landmasses drifting aimlessly in the void of space.
The gargantuan explosion and the subsequent shockwave propelled every nearby object far into the distance.
When the storm of energy finally subsided, the planet was gone, leaving Quinn alone, adrift. As he looked into the surrounding void, he realized something significant.
The crimson mist that had suffocated all of space was rapidly dissipating, fading into nothingness before his eyes.
'Was this energy everything Immortui possessed?' Quinn pondered.
He clenched his fist, though his grip felt feeble; his fingers responded sluggishly. 'My decision is set. Whatever follows, I must live with the consequences.' As these thoughts crossed his mind, his system alerted him with a notification.
Across the red expanse, a monumental shift was occurring. Many demons had retreated to their massive vessels, bound for the planet of the giants, but those left behind suddenly felt a bizarre, tingling sensation wracking their bodies.
Their forms began to warp. The overwhelming power pulsating through them vanished, and they shrunk in size, shedding their demonic traits.
As these traits faded, they began to resemble humans. Their skin returned to a natural state, and their flesh matched that of any mortal—but they were stripped of their prior power and lacked the abilities humans possessed.
"Look at them!" one of the Chrono shouted. "The demons... something has changed!"
Without hesitation, a Chrono snatched up an axe and charged, decapitating a former demon in a single stroke. The body collapsed, lifeless instantly.
Though the red mist had vanished, removing that innate, unnatural rage for combat, a genuine, human fury surged in its place. After enduring years of suffering, they finally had the chance to unleash their vengeance upon the demons.
The demons, baffled by their sudden transformation, stood no chance as the inhabitants reclaimed the red space.
Due to the intensity of Quinn's blast, one being in particular had been hurled so far that he landed on a remote planet, where he, too, reverted to a human-like form.
"What is happening?" Unzoku muttered, staring at his pale, human-like hands. "Does this imply that Immortui was defeated? His plan failed? Then what does this hold for me... I must survive somehow."
Back in the vampire settlement, the hostilities had ceased for a while. The survivors worked frantically, retrieving the wounded from the wreckage and beginning medical treatment.
The vampires shared their own blood to trigger rapid physiological regeneration. It was a harrowing period as they struggled to process the mounting losses.
Piercing screams had echoed throughout the battlefield during the attack.
Logan, utilizing his machinery, cleared away mountains of debris after ensuring no vampires remained trapped. The injured were moved aside, while the fallen were gathered in a separate area.
Shortly thereafter, escorted by elements of the Vampire Corps and Andy, Minny and the rest of the children made their arrival.
"Mum!" Minny shouted, sprinting toward her. Suddenly, her momentum faltered. Her steps grew heavy as the energy within her began to ebb away. She felt immensely sluggish, and her heartbeat grew noticeably more prominent.
She felt her own breath with newfound clarity, experiencing the sharp pain in her legs as she pushed forward. She wasn't alone; every vampire in the region was feeling it. A profound transition was sweeping through them all—a shift they could neither halt nor control.
Floating in the void near Quinn, he watched as a system interface materialized before him.
[Quest complete] [You have defeated the Celestial of Death] [You have gained the following rewards]
[Your powers have become your own. You will not be affected by the Celestial of Death's clawback ability.]
'Clawback ability? I have no idea what that refers to, but clearly the Celestial of Death must be Immortui.'
Even now, Quinn sensed the familiar blood aura within himself. He could detect the circulation of blood in the air and the blood being spilled across distant planets. He knew for certain his powers had not vanished.
[An item has been placed in your system] [Immortui's soul]
[You can do the following with Immortui's soul Crystal] [Place it into another that is compatible with the soul] [Break the soul crystal sending it into the path of Reincarnation]
'This... it's a crystal lodged within my system. Just like the god-slayer crystals? Is this even possible? Has this occurred before? Or is this a quirk of the system itself? Its Equivalent Exchange ability has always been capable of bizarre phenomena.'
'If I simply hold this crystal within the system, what happens? Does it mean Immortui will never enter the reincarnation cycle? He will never be a threat again.'
Given that his system didn't mandate an immediate action, he concluded this was quite possible. It seemed Immortui's lingering shadow in his mind might cease to exist.
Furthermore, it stood as a powerful bargaining tool for his dealings with other Celestials, if not a dangerous secret to guard. As he mused, a radiant orb emerged, and the three figures from earlier appeared before him once more.
"You did it, Quinn," Bliss said, a smile gracing her lips. "It appears that once more, aided by two Talens, you have successfully shifted the future for the better."
"Two Talens?" Quinn echoed, confused by her remark, though he felt too physically and mentally drained to press for an explanation.
"To thank you for this effort, Quinn, I'll return you to the Golden Space," Mundus declared. "At last, you can enjoy some time with your family and friends without the burden of worry."
"The celestials won't trouble you anymore, and Immortui will be unable to bother you until he eventually reincarnates. That, however, will be our responsibility, not yours. "
Those words finally brought Quinn a sense of serenity. He had felt such relief many times before, only for new crises to arise instantly. Was this truly it? Could he finally be at peace?
With a gesture, Bliss utilized her magic, pulling Quinn into the glowing white orb. He didn't offer any resistance as he was drawn toward the others.
The moment he reached them, he realized something. He caught a distinct scent, and noted the energy—or lack thereof—emanating from Sam's body.
"You... you don't smell like a vampire anymore. What happened to you?" Quinn asked, his heart hammering in his chest.
"Quinn," Sam responded, his expression stoic. "What Immortui stated... it wasn't a lie. His influence is no longer part of this universe, apart from the remnants inside you. You are the last vampire."
