Function 4: Origin Materialization
– Creates physical matter utilizing Essence and Origin Source
– Cost: Variable, dependent on design
– Prerequisite: Essence, Origin Source, and comprehension of Laws
– Complexity: Moderate
—---------------------
Function 5: Soul Genesis
– Constructs artificial souls employing Soul Energy
– Prerequisite: Null Core, Soul energy
– Complexity: Moderate
I observed the newly revealed functionalities for a period, allowing the information to be absorbed, as this was not at all what I had anticipated.
"What use can I possibly get from this?" I vocalized, addressing myself more than anyone.
Soul Genesis became clear almost instantly. The moment I processed the description, the primary thought that surfaced was of Vivi. This was the missing element. I could bestow upon her a distinct artificial soul, something truly independent. That alone rendered the function profoundly valuable.
But Origin Materialization…
That one did not integrate as readily.
It did not feel suited for combat, nor did it appear to be a direct enhancement of power, at least not in the immediate timeframe. I already possessed ample means to generate weapons, structures, or any required item using Essence. This function operated on a different plane, something distinct, and for a brief moment, I could not discern its definitive application.
Consequently, I refrained from hastening to a conclusion. I allowed my thoughts to decelerate and began examining it from an alternative perspective.
My gaze descended to the lotus cradled in my palm.
And in that instant, comprehension dawned.
The Dawn World.
It encompassed everything. Laws, territory, energy, even structures on a scale continuously expanding… yet it lacked a single crucial element.
Life.
I looked again at the lotus, sensing the faint presence within it, that subtle awareness I had just witnessed come into being. Utilizing Soul Genesis in conjunction with Materialization… I could commence the introduction of life into the Dawn World.
Creations born from my own hand.
The more I contemplated it, an increasing number of possibilities began to manifest. This was not a short-term capability. It was not designed to augment my strength in a single confrontation. Its purpose was to transform the scope of my creations.
To redefine what I could achieve.
I redirected my focus back to the interface, scanning through the remaining updates, and observed that even my existing abilities had undergone improvements.
– Essence Transfer: Enables the transfer of stored Essence into an attribute. Post-use, 100% of the transferred Essence unit is retained as a permanent enhancement.
– Essence Infusion: Enables the transfer of stored Essence into an attribute of another entity. Post-use, 50% of the transferred Essence unit is retained as a permanent enhancement.
A subtle smile graced my lips as I reviewed these modifications.
Previously, Essence Transfer preserved only seventy-five percent as a permanent gain. Now, it was absolute. No wastage. No inefficiency. And Essence Infusion had doubled in its effectiveness, significantly increasing its viability for empowering others without depleting resources.
That enhancement alone would accelerate the growth across all under my purview.
My eyes traveled further down. The Star of Origin was no longer indicated as dormant. It had awakened.
I could already sense this definitively.
Finally, I turned my attention to the talent itself. Its designation remained unchanged.
Generator Prime.
But its level… It did not reset as it had previously.
It simply displayed: Max.
This was the first instance it had not cycled back into another progression. However, upon examining the condition for rank-up…
It had not altered, implying that the next step would be a direct upgrade, bypassing another level.
The quantity of Essence requisite for the subsequent advancement had drastically escalated to 50,000 units. Concurrently, the expenditure for forming a Soul Shackle had decreased from seven hundred to five hundred, and the limit for Soul Shackles had been extended to eight.
I exhaled slowly, assimilating the changes without excessive deliberation.
Then, I acted.
In the subsequent moment, I materialized within the Dawn World once more, the lotus still resting peacefully in my hand. My feet landed upon a tranquil expanse of terrain, one of the numerous unoccupied regions that had emerged as the world grew.
I surveyed my surroundings briefly, then glanced down at the lotus. If this were the terrestrial realm, a lotus would not be situated upon arid ground.
It required water.
Without overcomplicating the action, I slightly raised my hand and reshaped the ground before me. The surface gently subsided, forming a shallow depression, sufficiently broad to encompass a modest pond. Essence naturally accumulated as I directed it, coalescing into water that filled the indentation, settling into a placid, clear pool.
Once it was formed, I advanced and crouched near the water's edge. The water lay still, mirroring the subdued sky above, its surface utterly undisturbed.
I lowered my hand. The lotus made contact with the water.
For a fleeting moment, it drifted freely, buoyed gently by the surface.
Then, it settled. Its base submerged slightly into the water, anchoring itself organically, precisely as any lotus would. The petals remained aloft, resting delicately upon the water's surface.
My hand was retracted, and I stood up. There was no immediate consequence, no sudden burst of power or a grand alteration. It simply remained, suspended serenely within the modest pond.
A few more seconds of observation passed before my gaze shifted elsewhere.
Whatever its intended function was… It would proceed on its own accord, now that it possessed life.
"You shall be my initial test subject. Do not fail me," I murmured, and the lotus on the water rippled softly, as though acknowledging my declaration.
A subtle smile graced my lips as I regarded it for another moment before turning away and exiting the Dawn World.
I consulted the status panel once more.

"50,000 isn't an insurmountable figure. I am genuinely anticipating the subsequent upgrade," I voiced to myself with a slight nod before manipulating space and entering the control chamber directly.
Upon my arrival, it was evident that Primus was absent.
Instead, occupying the chamber's center and calmly overseeing all proceedings was my grandmother… accompanied by Edgar, whose expression remained as unimpressed as ever.
My eyes flickered between the two, and a smirk touched my lips. "Greetings, esteemed elders. How fares the world?"
"Ohh, behold who has finally graced us with their presence," Edgar swiveled towards me, his demeanor instantaneously adopting a theatrical flair. "The magnificent lord himself has arrived. My apologies, I would offer a bow, but my knees have long since succumbed to the immense weight of carrying this world."
"Fear not, venerable Edgar," I retorted, mirroring his dramatic tone. "I would not wish for you to strain yourself. At your advanced age, there exists a significant peril of not being able to rise again."
"Such consideration," he acknowledged with a solemn nod. "I had always suspected a core of kindness lay hidden beneath your considerable arrogance."
"Billion," my grandmother interjected, a subtle smile playing on her lips, "that is hardly a fitting manner to address Elder Edgar. You risk wounding his sensibilities."
Edgar theatrically placed a hand over his chest. "Alas, too late. I detected a distinct fracturing just moments ago."
"That was likely your skeletal structure giving way," I stated plainly.
He completely disregarded my remark and straightened somewhat. "In any case, seeing as you are present, I presume your visit extends beyond mere verbal assaults on the aged."
I offered a shrug. "That remains to be seen. How long have you two been managing affairs?"
"Sufficiently long to rectify whatever disarray your associates have engendered," Edgar responded. "We have assumed control of operations from Primus for the interim."
"He is not present?" I inquired.
My grandmother offered a negative shake of her head. "Primus has departed for Dragos."
"That seems logical," I affirmed with a nod. "And Arkas and Lucien?"
"Engaged," Edgar replied. "They are supervising the construction of the Academy City. Apparently, transforming an entire region into a martial training ground for the emerging generation proves somewhat more complex than mere demolition and rebranding as progress."
A soft exhalation escaped me. "Excellent. At least some individuals are dedicating themselves to productive endeavors."
Edgar cast a pointed look my way. "Indeed, unlike yourself, who absconds for days on end and reappears demonstrably stronger with no accompanying explanation."
"That is what is termed efficiency," I countered.
"Naturally, it is," he concurred with a nod.
Then, as if a thought had surfaced, he tilted his head slightly.
"Ah, as a postscript," he added with casual nonchalance, "Primus has been assigned his quest."
This statement caused me to halt in my tracks.
I directed my full attention towards him. "Are you privy to its nature?"
He executed a shrug.
"Why would such information be available to me?" he questioned.
