My Secret Billionaire Husband Chapter 2876 - 2895

"A moment of confusion?" Joanna Lawrence's gaze turned frosty as she leveled a cold stare at the unapologetically deceitful Rose Liall. "Everyone who errs must face the consequences. Do you truly believe a fleeting moment of confusion absolves all wrongdoing?"
"What is it that you truly desire!" Rose Liall’s desperation escalated. "Are you genuinely considering sending Annie to prison?"
"Joanna Lawrence, do not overstep your bounds. Excessive actions invariably lead to retribution!"
Upon hearing Rose Liall's words, Joanna found herself increasingly amused.
Her initial intention wasn't to involve the authorities and send Annie Lawrence to the police station.
Her primary objective was to compel Annie Lawrence to openly acknowledge her true identity.
However, given Rose Liall's defiant stance, Joanna decided, irrespective of her original plan, to instill a healthy dose of fear in Annie.
She even mused.
Perhaps she would indeed have Annie incarcerated for a period.
After all, individuals like Annie Lawrence likely possessed no capacity for genuine repentance.
Having achieved her immediate objective, Joanna Lawrence felt no inclination to prolong her exchange with Annie Lawrence and Rose Liall. She cast a final, icy glance at the mother and daughter: "Oh, is that the case? We shall soon discover who truly faces retribution first."
With those parting words, she turned and departed.
Rose Liall and Annie Lawrence watched her retreat, neither daring to impede her departure.
Despite Joanna Lawrence's solitary arrival.
Both Rose Liall and Annie Lawrence harbored the conviction that she was accompanied by security personnel.
Consequently, even though intense animosity churned within the mother and daughter towards Joanna Lawrence, they restrained themselves from taking any action against her.
The pair could only observe with helpless frustration as Joanna Lawrence entered the elevator and disappeared from view.

"What are we to do, what are we to do?" The moment Joanna Lawrence vanished, Rose Liall transformed into a frantic whirlwind, pacing agitatedly. "Annie, will she actually report you to the police? What becomes of us if you are indeed arrested?"
"We are currently powerless against that vile woman."
"If you end up in jail, how will I possibly manage my future?"
"Annie, Annie, please say something. Stop just standing there blankly."
"I believe your best course of action is to pack your belongings immediately and seek refuge elsewhere. We cannot allow the police to apprehend you."
Annie Lawrence represented Rose Liall's sole remaining hope.
Rose Liall was consumed by a profound fear of her daughter's potential arrest.
Even more terrifying was the prospect of Annie facing a prison sentence.
Having no other means of support, Rose Liall had grown accustomed to a life of opulence, sustained first by Benjamin Lawrence, and subsequently by Annie Lawrence. The thought of engaging in manual labor to earn her own living was utterly abhorrent to her.
"Annie, utter a single word! Why this unnerving silence?"
Rose Liall, having vocalized her anxieties extensively, observed her daughter's continued lack of response, intensifying her own distress.
"Mother, have you quite finished?" Annie Lawrence, her voice laced with irritation, spun around and snapped at Rose Liall. "Must you incessantly chatter right beside me? Your constant nagging is driving me mad. Can you not simply cease speaking?"
"Well, you ought to respond in kind!" Rose Liall retorted, her own tone sharpened with resentment. "What if that wretched girl actually follows through and reports you? You know she's entirely capable of such a move. Are you not even remotely concerned? You need to devise a strategy."
"What strategy can I possibly devise?" Annie Lawrence countered with a growl. "With the White and Heath families backing her, what leverage do I possess against them? Will further worry truly accomplish anything?"
