My Secret Billionaire Husband Chapter 2875 - 2894: Annie is Your Younger Sister
Previously on My Secret Billionaire Husband...
Annie Lawrence appeared visibly shaken, her eyes wide with apprehension as she instinctively stepped back.
"Joanna Lawrence, what do you want!" Annie attempted to mask her fear with a raised voice, confronting Joanna. "Don't assume that because you now have the backing of the White and Heath families, you can do as you please! If you dare to cause trouble for me, I'll call the police instantly!"
"Yes, if you dare to cause trouble for us, we'll call the police and have you arrested!" Rose Liall's face was also etched with fear, clearly unnerved by Joanna's earlier words. She took half a step back, grasping Annie's arm, and defensively stated, "Joanna, when you were with the Lawrence family, I wasn't unkind to you, was I? After all, I was once your stepmother, and I served Benjamin Lawrence for so many years. If you still intend to harm me and Annie, then you truly have no conscience!"
"I will expose your despicable actions to the reporters!"
Both Rose Liall and Annie Lawrence found themselves in a state of fearful helplessness.
With the current Joanna Lawrence, overpowering them would be as simple as crushing an ant.
If Joanna chose not to spare them.
Then the mother and daughter pair would truly have no path to survival.
Rose Liall proclaimed she wasn't unkind to Joanna, yet deep down, she knew she was being deceitful.
She was acutely aware of how she had treated Joanna.
She followed Annie back, harboring the hope that her daughter could regain fame as a star and amass substantial wealth, thereby ensuring a comfortable existence for them both.
If Joanna decided to retaliate against the mother and daughter duo, how could they ever anticipate a peaceful future?
Mother and daughter shared a similar disposition, even resorting to the same sort of threats against others.
However, these threats held no weight with Joanna and, in fact, amused her.
From Joanna's perspective, the threats from Rose Liall and Annie Lawrence were akin to a paper tiger – all bluster and pretense, but ultimately a laughable display to any discerning observer.
"Mrs. Rose Lawrence, you are welcome to call the police now," Joanna said, observing the ludicrous pair with a nonchalant quirk of her lips. "Incidentally, Annie Lawrence has engaged in slander and defamation against me. Based on the clause where forwarding counts exceeding 500 constitutes a crime, she could spend a considerable amount of time at the police station."
"Once you report the crime, it will save me the effort of making the call myself."
Annie's complexion turned ashen.
Rose's face also lost all color.
"Joanna Lawrence, did you come here... to have the police arrest me?" Annie attempted to feign indifference, but her voice, trembling with palpable fear, betrayed her.
She understood that Joanna possessed the genuine ability to have her sent to the police station.
If she were to end up in such a place... she would consider death a preferable fate.
Joanna had just mentioned that merely banishing her from Closia was a lenient outcome...
The more Annie contemplated this, the more her fear escalated, and her face grew progressively paler.
"Joanna Lawrence, Annie is your sister. You cannot allow the police to arrest her!" Rose Liall pleaded, attempting to appeal to emotion while her voice quivered with dread. "If Annie ends up in that kind of place, her life will be irrevocably ruined."
"You grew up together from a young age. Even if she... she wronged you in some ways, it was merely a momentary lapse in judgment. She now recognizes her mistake and will not repeat it in the future."
"A momentary lapse?" Joanna gazed coldly at Rose Liall, who was clearly fabricating her words, her expression growing progressively colder. "Everyone must face consequences for their actions. Can a simple 'momentary lapse' be used to erase everything as if it never happened?"
