My Rich Wife Chapter 5: Remove Them From the List
Previously on My Rich Wife...
Qin Yu experienced a touch of embarrassment.
He understood deep down that returning home would surely bring mockery from them.
Qin Yu preferred not to let anyone see him in his most humiliating condition.
Yet Yan Ruoxue appeared to sense Qin Yu's thoughts.
With a gentle smile, she remarked, "No matter the obstacles, they stay unbeatable until you confront them, don't they?"
Qin Yu drew in a steady breath and nodded. Afterward, he guided Yan Ruoxue as they walked confidently toward the front door.
The entire Su family had assembled in the living area.
Zhao Gang was boldly embracing Su Yan.
Far from scolding Zhao Gang, Qin Yu's mother-in-law Sun Yumei actually served the overbearing fellow a cup of tea.
The scene caused Qin Yu to lose his composure, his fists tightening in anger.
Before he had a chance to voice his thoughts, Yan Ruoxue tugged at his arm and shook her head subtly.
Glancing at Yan Ruoxue, Qin Yu reined in his anger.
"Oh wow. You've already snagged a new girl before our divorce is even final, have you?" Su Yan eyed Yan Ruoxue with clear annoyance.
Even though Su Yan held no affection for Qin Yu, it irked her greatly to witness her almost-former husband pursuing another woman so quickly.
Meanwhile, Zhao Gang stared at Yan Ruoxue, practically drooling as he ogled her.
The woman in front of him proved too enchanting for him to look away.
Her silhouette, features, and aura were overwhelmingly attractive—she was simply irresistible.
Su Yan, sitting next to him, seemed downright drab by contrast.
"She's my friend. You'd better show her some respect," Qin Yu cautioned in a chilly tone.
Su Yan scoffed dismissively, ignoring Qin Yu completely. She then mocked, "Tsk tsk! Sis, you're really quite foolish. Imagine picking up the trash I threw away. Don't you realize he's a total coward?"
The comment left Yan Ruoxue unmoved. As she brushed a hand through her locks, she responded nonchalantly, "Only a crude woman clings to a high-status man. That's not me at all."
Rage flared up in Su Yan at those words.
"You little—!" Su Yan shook with fury, yet she couldn't muster a proper comeback.
Zhao Gang continued to leer at Yan Ruoxue, his desire for such a stunning beauty impossible to ignore.
"Miss, you don't strike me as an ordinary person. If you don't mind me asking, what line of work are you in?" Zhao Gang inquired with a grin.
After a moment's reflection, Yan Ruoxue answered, "I handle various ventures. Things like real estate, investments, e-commerce, and more."
"Real estate?" Zhao Gang's eyes bulged at the mention.
Swelling with pride, he pressed on, "Miss, have you heard that the Yan family from Jingdu is bringing major business prospects to our city?"
Yan Ruoxue remained composed and simply nodded. "Yes, I have."
Zhao Gang boasted further in a self-important way, "To tell you the truth, my family has secured a partnership with the Yan family. Miss, would you be open to working together?"
Zhao Gang's aim was plain to see—he was tempting Yan Ruoxue with connections to the Yan family.
Yan Ruoxue showed no gratitude for the offer and instead chuckled softly.
"The Zhao family, is it? Fine, I'll keep that in mind," Yan Ruoxue said smilingly.
Believing he'd piqued her interest, Zhao Gang beamed with delight. He pulled out his business card and added, "Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything."
"What do you think you're doing?" Su Yan snapped in frustration.
Zhao Gang cleared his throat and stepped back to his place.
Seizing the divorce papers, Su Yan thrust them onto the table in front of Qin Yu.
"Sign here, and we're through," Su Yan sneered.
Tightening his fists, Qin Yu stared daggers at Su Yan and declared, "Su Yan, you'll come to regret this someday!"
"Cut it out already," Su Yan snapped irritably.
With that, Qin Yu fell quiet, picked up the pen, and scrawled his signature on the forms. He then slid the papers back toward her.
"I vow you'll both grovel at my feet and beg forgiveness!" Qin Yu roared, his eyes red with fury. The shame of that day etched itself into his memory forever.
Su Yan and Zhao Gang erupted into mocking laughter at his outburst.
"Such an idiot! We're about to seal a deal with the Yan family and rise to become Jiangcheng's wealthiest. And you? You're just a useless nobody!" Su Yan jeered.
Qin Yu inhaled deeply, clasped Yan Ruoxue's hand, and pivoted to exit without another word.
Once inside the vehicle, Qin Yu could no longer contain his seething resentment.
Through gritted teeth, he growled, "Just wait and see!"
Armed with the legacy of knowledge from his father, Qin Yu brimmed with assurance.
At that point, Yan Ruoxue asked, "Do you hate them?"
Qin Yu turned to look at Yan Ruoxue and managed a strained smile. "No man in his right mind could stay calm after such an insult."
Yan Ruoxue blinked thoughtfully for a moment.
Before long, the car pulled up to a upscale neighborhood in downtown Jiangcheng, known as Dragon Paradise.
Handing over a key set to Qin Yu, she gestured to a nearby villa and stated, "This should be your spot for the time being."
Qin Yu stood stunned upon viewing the opulent residence.
Shaking his head, he protested, "Miss Ruoxue, this place is way too grand for someone like me. I haven't earned it."
Yan Ruoxue gave a casual shrug. "It's actually the tiniest asset I have."
Qin Yu stared at her, utterly at a loss for words.
With nowhere else to turn, he accepted the keys from Yan Ruoxue.
"Miss Ruoxue, your generosity will stay with me forever." Clutching the keys, Qin Yu's expression hardened with resolve.
Yan Ruoxue rolled her eyes and teased, "Look after yourself first, you goof."
Soon enough, Yan Ruoxue drove away and departed.
As evening fell, Yan Ruoxue arrived at a gala in a Maybach bearing Jingdu plates.
The event drew almost every influential figure from Chuzhou. Even Jiangcheng's top tycoon amounted to little more than a waiter pouring drinks.
During the drive to the venue, Yan Ruoxue rested her hand on her face, deep in contemplation.
"Miss, are you truly set on marrying that loser?" her secretary suddenly asked.
Yan Ruoxue shot him a stern look and replied, "Honestly, I'm starting to trust what Grandpa said earlier."
"What exactly do you mean by trusting Old Mister Yan?" the secretary probed worriedly.
"He's just worthless trash. He can't even compare to Jingdu's elite heirs," the secretary pointed out.
Yan Ruoxue disagreed with a shake of her head. "I see it differently. He's skilled in many ways but prefers to stay under the radar. Plus, despite his tough circumstances, he didn't demand anything in exchange for helping me."
"Now, tell me—how would you react if your spouse shamed you like that?" Yan Ruoxue challenged.
The secretary frowned and huffed, "I'd never let them off the hook."
"Exactly, that's the typical response," Yan Ruoxue noted.
"His refusal to seek my aid shows he's got real backbone," Yan Ruoxue concluded, beaming broadly.
The secretary muttered, "Who’s to say he won’t just swallow the insult and stay passive?"
"No way. I’m certain he’ll rise to prominence one day," Yan Ruoxue affirmed, her voice tinged with anticipation.
The secretary gave a wry smile and derided, "Rise? Even with ten lifetimes, he couldn't match up to Jingdu's young elites."
"Don't count him out yet." Yan Ruoxue shook her head again and went on, "Give the guy some time to show what he's capable of."
Shifting gears, Yan Ruoxue inquired, "By the way, is any firm on our partnership roster owned by the Zhao family?"
The secretary flipped open his laptop, scanned the document carefully, and confirmed, "Yes, Miss Ruoxue. One exists. The Zhao family seems quite committed. Their business ranks among Jiangcheng's leaders in yearly earnings. It'd make a solid partner."
Upon hearing this, Yan Ruoxue commanded promptly, "Alright. Cut them out of the list."
