Damon and Xander find themselves trapped within Morticai's mind as it deteriorates. Damon battles a rapidly changing Morticai while Xander provides support. Advised by Ashcroft, they escape Morticai's collapsing mental world just as he succumbs to the Rot and transforms into a grotesque abomination. As the battle resumes, a mysterious woman emerges and confronts Damon.

It was almost as if an unspoken rule had suddenly descended upon the battlefield, ordering everyone to stop and witness what was about to happen.

But that wasn’t the reason.

The Outsiders had already captured Aetherus within their spell, so the sudden lack of combat was beneficial to them. Morticai’s fall was unfortunate, but he had never truly been their friend.

He had been an associate.

And if he could not take care of himself, then he had only himself to blame.

"Emilia."

Xander called her name when he recognized his wife.

She had appeared out of nowhere.

She had not been assigned to this battlefield.

She wasn’t even supposed to be here.

Emilia floated in the air for a moment before flying toward Damon.

Her hands were shaking.

She raised them toward him, her fingers trembling as tears filled her eyes.

"I... I know what you did. How could you?"

Damon wiped the blood from his mouth, his head feeling heavy beneath the weight of his injuries. Blood leaked from his dented and damaged armor.

"What are you talking about?"

"Don’t deny it!"

Her scream echoed across the battlefield, passing through the groans and cries of the injured.

The entire battle, which had stopped because of Morticai’s fall, now turned toward her.

It was as if God Himself wanted this moment to be witnessed by everyone.

"I know everything you did! I know about the contract you signed with Xander! I know... I know it all!"

When Damon heard that, his heart sank.

He didn’t know how much she knew.

Without drawing attention to himself, he began moving his Shadow Clone away into the shadows. He wasn’t far from Emilia, but the area around him had already been cleared by his and Evangeline’s attacks, meaning she had a clear view of him if she turned her head.

Xander narrowed his eyes.

"How did you...?"

"Shut up!"

Emilia screamed at him.

"Please, just shut up. I don’t want you to speak. You’ve both spoken enough. You’ve acted enough. You’ve lied enough. You’ve been selfish enough."

Her voice trembled.

"Now... now it’s my turn to talk."

She was gasping between her words, tears falling in thick beads down her face as the indignation she had carried for all those years finally erupted.

It hurt.

It hurt because these were people she had known for years.

People she had trusted.

Family.

Friends.

And they were the very people who had hurt her.

"Admit it..."

Her voice broke.

"It was you who did it."

"I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Terra stood behind her sister, watching the entire scene while also keeping her eyes on the heads of the noble houses floating in the sky.

They were watching.

Listening.

And so was the entire world through the broadcast.

Emilia reached out and grabbed Damon by the scruff of his neck, pulling him closer as she stared into his deep, dark eyes.

They did not seem to reflect anything.

For a brief moment, a part of her wondered if he even had a soul anymore.

Damon raised one hand.

"Men, take her away. She’s hysterical, and this battlefield is no place for her."

The closest knight immediately rushed toward them.

"Why did you take Godric?!"

Emilia shoved them away with her aura.

"Why?! It was you, Damon Grey! It was you! You took my son from me years ago!"

Her finger shook as she pointed directly at him.

"It was also you who killed Godric! The first Ravenscroft!"

The battlefield went silent.

Even those who had been fighting paused.

Orbitus smiled as he watched the drama unfold.

Then he subtly signaled toward Zhang Dafei.

The cultivator nodded.

Aetherus gritted his teeth, but no words came from him.

No sound escaped his throat.

Down below, Emilia was confronted by Xander.

"What are you talking about? My brother was killed by Amon. I was there. I saw it with my own eyes!"

Xander pointed his spear toward Amon, who stood not far from Evangeline.

Evangeline slowly nodded.

She knew Damon.

He wouldn’t do something so heinous.

"Haha."

Emilia laughed bitterly.

"You are so naive. You don’t even know that your friend killed your brother."

She pointed toward Damon.

"Amon is just Damon Grey."

"That’s a bold accusation," Evangeline said through gritted teeth.

"It’s not. He can be in multiple places at once. Is that really so hard to believe?"

Emilia looked toward Damon.

"Go ahead. Deny it. Say I’m lying."

Damon’s face remained calm.

His long hair was mixed with blood, strands sticking to his face.

Damon shook his head before looking toward Xander.

"Why would I do such a thing? Your wife has lost her mind. And how can I be in two places at once?"

"Yeah." The troops whispered

"That’s the Goddess Races’ hero." Another said.

"How dare you insult him!" They were angry afterall, he was a hero.

Evangeline’s expression hardened.

"Xander, control your wife," the old head of House Ravenscroft called from the sky, standing upon a floating platform.

Emilia looked toward Terra.

’Sister, I thought you had a plan. You can’t just accuse one of the most powerful men in the world without evidence. I told you.’

She bit her lip when she saw Xander grab Emilia’s hand and begin dragging her away.

"No! Wait!"

Emilia struggled against him.

"Xander, you know it’s true! You know you signed that agreement! Please, just listen to me!"

Xander didn’t know exactly what she knew, but it was difficult to believe what she was saying about Damon killing his brother.

He didn’t want to believe it.

Damon had an alibi.

Even when Amon had first appeared after they returned from Lysithara, Damon had been elsewhere.

Xander paused.

For a moment, he turned and looked at Damon.

But before he could say anything, Emilia broke free.

"I have the proof!"

She raised her voice.

"And I will prove it! The one who suffers the consequences is the guilty party!"

When she said that, she raised her head.

"For my last guess, the name of the one who took my child is..."

She pointed toward Damon.

"Damon Grey."

Nothing happened.

Emilia’s eyes widened.

She fell to her knees.

Damon continued staring at her, his own heart growing heavy.

He couldn’t stop hearing Sylvia’s prophecy in his mind.

"I offer a gentle warning... a caution. Beware. Your peril has only begun. That, I guarantee.

The truth is a steel horse... Your lies will be broken. Your truths will be revealed. And when they do... you will be betrayed by one you cherish."

Damon could feel his demon nature growing his horns and wings about to burst out from his body fueled by his own darkness.

As Xander began dragging the struggling Emilia away, somewhere in the capital, Ric and Ranar watched the events through the broadcast.

The moment Emilia spoke, Ranar suddenly turned her head.

Something had caught the corner of her eye.

She slowly turned around.

And then she saw him.

An angel with dark skin and long white hair.

He was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.

And yet, at the same time, her heart grew cold.

Her stomach twisted.

She felt as though she were going to vomit.

Because he was also the most hideous thing she had ever seen.

The angel slowly reached out toward her.

Ranar couldn’t move.

She couldn’t even scream.

All she could do was whisper one name.

"Ric."

Ric could not hear her.
