Ling Mo announces the merger of Miracle Base with Falcon Camp, revealing that the previous leader, Yao Haidong, is dead. Ling Mo asserts control over the bewildered Falcon members, promising minimal changes for most but confirming the demise of dissenters and implying the grim fate of A City.

Moments later, the helicopter became apparent to everyone within the Falcon Camp located in A City.

Its presence was unmistakable, differing entirely from Falcon's usual aircraft due to the striking flame symbol emblazoned on its fuselage.

This emblem belonged to the Miracle Base…

Nevertheless, many of the common survivors remained unaware of the symbol's significance. They paused their tasks, gazing skyward at the helicopter, murmuring to each other.

Wu Pengfei, much like the other raw recruits nearby, displayed a bewildered and astonished expression.

However, a palpable sense of unease soon washed over him.

Could it be that the Miracle Base had returned? If so, wouldn't that imply Ling Mo…?

Indeed, for many observers, this particular scenario seemed a foregone conclusion.

How could a solitary individual, or even a handful of people, possibly stand against an entire established camp?

Wu Pengfei, for one, certainly couldn't conceive of it.

Certainly, Ling Mo was an individual of considerable capability… but precisely how formidable was he, really?

Wu Pengfei still lacked a solid grasp of Ling Mo's true strength. He clutched his firearm, contemplating that with his current marksmanship skills, perhaps the disparity between himself and his old acquaintance was no longer so vast?

While he was consumed by these reflections, a voice suddenly emanated from the helicopter.

Hmm? An aerial announcement?

For the currently dispirited Falcon, this was indeed cause for celebration.

Yet, Wu Pengfei found little inclination to listen; he felt an urgent need for a cigarette. He had squirrelled one away last month, intending to savor it on a day of leisure. Now, however, he was compelled to use it under these circumstances.

Just as he lowered his head, tinged with a subtle melancholy, he heard a voice from the helicopter declare, “This is Ling Mo. You have been taken over.”

Following this, Ling Mo uttered a lengthy proclamation, but Wu Pengfei failed to apprehend its entirety. He looked up in utter shock, his mind reeling.

What is transpiring?!

Who did he just identify himself as, and what was the purpose of his arrival?!

By the time he regained his composure, the entire Falcon Camp in A City had fallen into an unnerving silence, and another voice resonated from above.

This voice was familiar to all Falcon survivors: “I am Chief of Staff Su Qianrou. Kindly cooperate with the transition and cease any futile resistance. Rest assured, this handover will not disrupt your daily lives. Everything will proceed as normal…”

Much like the events in X City, the ordinary survivors displayed indifference towards the change in the camp's nominal leadership.

However, upon recovering his senses, Wu Pengfei suddenly clenched his jaw and declared, “I know some troublemakers. Let’s go apprehend them!”

“Huh?” A new recruit stammered in confusion.

Wu Pengfei spat and cursed vehemently, “Don’t just stand there gawking! This presents a golden opportunity!”

As for the inherent dangers? Aside from the individuals themselves, who else would conceivably risk their lives for them?

If they delayed, they might forfeit even the chance to vie for recognition!

“Click!” Wu Pengfei chambered a round. A surge of renewed vigor coursed through him. “Let’s go take them down!”

The subjugation of Falcon Camp required two hours, yet its integration extended over three days.

During this three-day period, the epicenter of activity was the Command Headquarters in X City, though all focus was directed towards the Laboratory Building situated behind it.

Ling Mo and the contingent he led resided there, alongside individuals from the Central Region Camp.

Among them, Zhang Dongyao had already met his demise… and then Ling Mo encountered an unexpected acquaintance.

“You… why… how did you end up at the Central Region Camp?”

As Wang Lin escorted this young woman before him, Ling Mo found his thoughts momentarily disarrayed.

Yet, the young woman, upon facing Ling Mo, displayed no astonishment. She offered a smile and extended her hand with confidence: “Long time no see. I’m pleased you still recall me. But do you remember my name?”

“Lin… Lin Luanqiu.” Ling Mo clasped her hand, mirroring her smile, somewhat influenced by her cheerful demeanor. “It truly has been… quite some time.”

“You’ve become more handsome.” Lin Luanqiu’s subsequent remark was precisely that.

Observing Ling Mo’s renewed bewilderment, she promptly erupted into laughter: “Is it so offensive to compliment you? Logically, you should reciprocate by saying I’ve grown prettier, shouldn't you?”

“Uh… you have grown prettier…” Ling Mo replied.

His words were not insincere… compared to her previous state, Lin Luanqiu appeared significantly more robust now.

Although her complexion remained pale, her eyes possessed a greater luminescence, and she projected an aura of increased vitality.

However, the lingering traces of her former self within her expression served as a reminder to Ling Mo that she hadn’t fundamentally changed.

Yet, this felt incongruous! Not that cordial greetings in this current era should gravitate towards sentiments like “You’re still alive!” or “Unbelievable, you haven’t perished!” but rather…

“I genuinely hadn’t anticipated you’d find yourself at the Central Region Camp. Weren’t you awaiting rescue in X City back then?” Ling Mo inquired.

The memory still evoked a measure of sadness… At that time, numerous survivors like Lin Luanqiu clung to hope, but now, a pervasive shift in mindset had taken hold: the world as they knew it had collapsed, and for the remaining human populace, existence was merely a countdown.

Were it not for the zombies beyond the perimeter, perhaps these survivors would have already succumbed to despair, descending into madness. The irony of the situation was palpable…

“Yeah…” Lin Luanqiu let a hint of wistfulness surface. She gazed at Ling Mo, saying, “You know nothing about me, yet I know a great deal about you. Well, that hardly seems equitable, does it? Allow me to enlighten you. Following your departure from X City University, I persevered with my classmates for another fortnight. However, some individuals, much like yourself, sought alternatives elsewhere, leading to internal discord. Eventually, I came to understand that remaining stationary offered no viable path forward, so I departed with a contingent of others.”

“I am certain you do not require a detailed account of the subsequent events…” Lin Luanqiu condensed her recollections into a single statement, “People descended into madness. We suffered numerous losses, and in the end, trust in me evaporated. I was ostracized, and it was then I encountered Wang Lin. Amusingly, it was only when she covertly uttered curses against you that I recognized our shared link. With fewer companions, it truly was a case of 'close proximity breeds familiarity'…”

At this juncture, she offered another smile and continued, “I cannot say if you will credit this… but upon my return to X City this time, I harbored a premonition that our paths would cross. The sole uncertainty lay in whether I would endure long enough to witness that reunion. Therefore, my arrival at Falcon filled me with genuine elation. Yet, I never envisioned our meeting would occur under such circumstances… Ling Mo, or perhaps I should address you as, Boss Falcon?”

Before Ling Mo had a chance to respond, Lin Luanqiu unexpectedly advanced and embraced him.

Subsequently, Ling Mo perceived a faint dampness upon his chest.

And Lin Luanqiu softly murmured, “It is profoundly comforting to be alive and to meet again…”
