Excitement filled the cultivators of the Sacred Region as they cheered wildly. In that instant, they cast aside their weariness and the blood covering their bodies. As they gazed upon Ming Xin, who relentlessly drew power from the ten pillars of light, hope ignited within them. It felt like they were beholding the rise of a divine being capable of ruling over all.
Ming Xin appeared on the verge of victory. The Towers of Heaven kept channeling power into his form. His might swelled relentlessly, achieving unparalleled levels. With You Ying's aid, he endured right up to the final instant.
Thrilling ecstasy gripped Ming Xin at this juncture. The prospect of seizing control over everything thrilled him even more than his ascension to Temple Master of the Sacred Temple.
However…
In the projection, Si Wuya lifted his gaze and declared, “Ming Xin, it’s time to end this.”
Then, the four divine emperors materialized in four separate directions.
Ming Xin regarded the four divine emperors with scorn and retorted, “You think you can end this with only the help of these four people?”
“There’s also me.”
A silhouette emerged far in the sky.
“Black Emperor?”
Zhi Guangji, the Black Emperor, soared over and suspended himself mid-air. He remarked, “How can I not participate in such a lively event?”
Ming Xin dismissed this lightly. With calm composure tinged with disdain, he stated, “Have you never wondered why I didn’t get rid of all of you back then?” He paused briefly before adding, “It’s because the strong don’t care about the ants on the ground.”
Boom!
Suddenly, the Sacred Region trembled violently, making the ten Pillars of Light waver.
“Time’s up,” Si Wuya announced. He then bent forward and pressed his palm to the massive golden lotus beneath him. Shockingly, the lotus vanished.
Ming Xin furrowed his brow. “Hmm?”
“I’ve already told you that you’ll definitely fail, but you don’t believe me…” Si Wuya said before inquiring, “Do you still remember the commanders’ competition?”
Ming Xin glanced at the Pillar of Light restraining Si Wuya. Astonishment struck him as he realized it had ceased delivering the power of the laws.
Si Wuya went on, “During the commanders’ competition, I gave everyone a piece of paper. Your Majesty, you saw the content on the paper as well.”
Ming Xin clearly sensed something off. He replied, “Isn’t it just a list of which halls the ten of you should go, in accordance with the pillars that acknowledged you, to comprehend the Great Dao? What are you trying to say?”
“Eldest Senior Brother obtained the recognition of the pillar at Dunzang, but he went to Yan Feng Hall,” Si Wuya explained, “Second Senior Brother was recognized by the pillar at Huantan, but he went to Xuan Meng Hall. Fourth Senior Brother was recognized by the pillar at Yu Zhong that corresponded to Tu Wei Hall, but I went to Tu Wei Hall…”
“...”
Ming Xin failed to grasp Si Wuya’s point. He found the words jumbled and bewildering.
Lu Zhou and the five divine emperors felt equally perplexed.
“What are you talking about?” Ming Xin demanded. To verify all was well, he reached out, drawing the power of the laws from the pillars of light to gather above his palm into a glowing orb. As long as he commanded the laws, nothing else mattered.
Si Wuya hadn’t anticipated comprehension. He stated, “The Great Void of old was too expansive to discern clearly. Yet, the Sacred Region is far smaller. Please observe.”
Intrigue prompted them to halt the fight, and everyone peered down at the Sacred Region simultaneously.
They examined the ten pillars of light linked to the Sacred Region via the Towers of Heaven. Soon, a startling revelation hit them: the Sacred Region was gradually turning.
“The Sacred Region is rotating?” Bai Zhaoju cried out in shock.
“That’s right,” Si Wuya confirmed, “In fact, the Great Void and the Unknown Land rotated similarly long ago. Ages back, curiosity drove me. Humans share one sun, rising in the east. Yet, why did the Great Void and Unknown Land differ from the nine domains? To unravel this, I examined the nine domains and verified their motion mimics a sundial.”
After a pause, Si Wuya added, “The Great Void’s rotation never aligned with the earth’s. Thus, periodically, the Pillars of Destruction would fracture, sending boulders tumbling. Likewise, the earth would rift at intervals, and with sufficient fissures, the land would shatter. Due to this misalignment, the pillars matching the ten halls and their upper cores kept shifting…”
Si Wuya gazed upon Ming Xin, his voice turning grave as he declared, “So… The laws that the Towers of Heaven obtained are all wrong.”
Once Si Wuya uttered those words, a sharp pain pierced Ming Xin’s heart like a needle’s stab. The agony was unbearable, and he struggled to accept or believe it.
Lu Zhou and the five divine emperors shifted their gaze back to the Sacred Region, brimming with curiosity and bewilderment.
Despite Lu Zhou’s understanding of the blue planet’s axial spin, this mechanical, clockwork rotation remained baffling to him.
After drawing in a deep breath, Bai Zhaoju suddenly questioned, “What exactly are the shackles?”
Si Wuya ignored the inquiry. He unfurled his palm instead, summoning a lotus that hovered above it.
The lotus boasted nine leaves as it lifted into the sky and began spinning leisurely.
Si Wuya’s palm glowed with radiance that rippled like water. Upon clenching his fist, the light twisted into a swirling vortex.
In that instant, Ming Xin’s face perfectly matched Lu Zhou’s expression from the lawless void.
Ming Xin stumbled back, retreating far away.
Si Wuya intoned, “I know you won’t believe it because you’ve obtained the power of the laws. However, the Sacred Region won’t be able to exist.” His voice deepened further as he warned, “The time has come. The disordered laws and the out-of-sync rotations won’t be able to support the Sacred Region or construct a new world with new laws.”
As soon as Si Wuya’s voice faded…
Crack!
A fissure erupted at the Sacred Region’s core, spreading outward instantly like a spiderweb.
Cultivators across the Sacred Region panicked at the sight of the web beneath their feet. Powerless, they were yanked into the cracks, perishing in gruesome ways. The chaotic laws prevented them from flying or channeling their Primal Qi.
