Yuan, a young man with leukemia, dies after a lifetime of hardship and unfulfilled wishes. He finds himself in a void where a divine being offers him rebirth. He awakens in a new body, a young man also named Yuan, who lived in a world of magic and had a loving family, but was tragically killed. This new Yuan also faced ostracism after failing his magic awakening. He is reunited with his kind sister Lily, who worries about him after his near-death experience. As they interact, a mysterious blue screen appears before him, announcing the activation of a system.

He blinked rapidly, rubbing his eyes, wondering if he was hallucinating as a translucent blue screen materialized before him, accompanied by a feminine, mechanical voice issuing several notifications. The pop-ups remained stubbornly in place even after repeated eye-rubbing, confirming the bizarre reality.

Having been reborn and landing in a world that reveres magic, Yuan found the appearance of a system less shocking than the experience of death itself. He mused, glancing at the notifications and shaking his head softly, “What could truly surprise you after facing death?”

“Little Yuan, are you feeling alright?” Lily inquired, noticing her younger brother shaking his head for no discernible reason. Concerned, she assumed he might be suffering from a migraine.

“No, I’m perfectly fine, Big Sister. You don’t need to worry so much.”

“That’s good, but let’s go see your mother now; she’s been very worried about you,” Lily said, rising from the bed Yuan occupied.

“I need to clean myself up first. I’m covered in blood and it’s incredibly uncomfortable. You go ahead, Big Sis,” he replied, realizing his clothes were painfully stuck to his skin with dried blood, a rather unpleasant sensation.

“Alright, I’m leaving, but make it quick.”

With that, she securely locked the door and departed his room. Once certain she was gone, he swung his legs out of bed and headed directly for the restroom. His father, a magic knight serving the kingdom, meant that only the affluent possessed private bathrooms, a fact he recalled from the original Yuan’s memories. This indicated their considerable wealth.

“This is going to hurt if you don’t dilute it.”

His clothes clung stubbornly to his skin, making removal akin to a painful waxing session. Upon entering the bathroom, he immediately stepped into the shower, clothes and all.

[System Operational. Host, would you like to review your status information?]

Yuan paused the shower as the voice echoed in his mind once more. This time, however, it was markedly different from the previous robotic tone. It was a captivatingly feminine voice, belonging to a young girl, that almost bewitched him.

‘I’ve never heard such a beautiful voice, damn!’ Recovering from his daze, he responded, “Okay, show me!”

“Damn it! This body is weaker than a newborn chick. Then again, my original body wasn’t exactly robust either, so I suppose I can’t complain,” he muttered.

‘Sigh! It seems I’ll have to work incredibly hard to become strong,’ he sighed, a tinge of disappointment clouding his thoughts. This body’s frailty was a direct result of the original Yuan’s complete lack of physical exertion.

“What happened to my mana stat? I should still have that, even without an awakening! Right? And what exactly is this ‘cultivation’ business?”

As he pondered the disappearance of his mana, a sudden realization struck him, leading to a bout of uncontrollable laughter. “Hahaha, damn it! I just hit the jackpot! This is incredible! Isn’t this supposed to be a magical planet where mages are considered the lower class? But even so, this is just absurd!” He had devoured countless cultivation novels and manga back on Earth, making him keenly aware of the prowess of cultivators. The thought of being able to cultivate in this magical realm and perhaps even achieve immortality was exhilarating – enough to make anyone’s spirit soar!

‘Should I assemble a harem of, say, ten women? If I have a harem, we could dual cultivate and achieve breakthroughs far more rapidly than if I were to simply meditate for hours on end!’ Having been a complete virgin otaku in his previous life, burdened by financial worries and with little time for romantic pursuits, he found himself fantasizing about building a harem and engaging in dual cultivation.

(AN: A story needs a little spice to be truly memorable, don’t you think?)

"But first, I must focus on enhancing my strength as rapidly as possible, for without it, I won't even be able to anticipate my own demise..." A burning ember of determination ignited in his eyes, blazing with fervor as he muttered, clenching his fists tightly, resolute in his quest for power.

[Host, I suggest you inspect the beginner's gift pack within the system's inventory, as it is set to expire in 11 hours!]

Startled by the sudden female voice echoing in his mind once more, he regained control of his thoughts and inquired, "I'll do that immediately, but who are you? Your speech and demeanor suggest you are more than just a machine. May I ask what you are?"

[Responding to the host's query, I am a system spirit, or a will, named Nora. I was created to serve as the system's administrator and to assist you whenever called upon. I shall fulfill all your requests. This system is designed to aid the host in cultivation techniques and weaponry, and to ensure you remain on the correct path. Please, do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have,] Nora stated.

"Then, Nora, open the beginner's gift package, whatever it may be!" Yuan interjected swiftly as Nora concluded, his curiosity piqued about the rewards.

Nora exclaimed, [Understood!]

He mused internally, "It's been over thirty minutes since I entered the restroom; if I linger too long, big sister will only worry needlessly, so..." He then replied aloud, "No, I will check them later."

Following this, he quickly completed his shower and emerged from the bathroom, donning fresh attire from the drawer. He was dressed in a black shirt and slacks, the shirt adorned with intricate golden motifs that gave it a distinctive and captivating appearance. For the first time in this new world, he turned to face his reflection in the mirror. A tall, slender man met his gaze, bearing a resemblance to his former self on Earth but possessing a heightened attractiveness and striking golden eyes that exuded an aura of dominance.

"I suppose I still look like myself? ... A touch more handsome, to be precise! My eyes have turned gold, like that man from the peculiar place, but what did he say? I completely missed his words..." The mysterious man with the golden eyes, whom he had encountered in that shadowy realm, still sent shivers down his spine at the mere recollection. The sheer power emanating from him hinted at an incredibly high level of cultivation, he thought, observing his own reflection.

"Little Yuan, have you finished tidying up? Hurry down here if you're done, as Mother wishes to see you!" Lily's call from outside the room underscored the depth of his mother's concern for Yuan's well-being, prioritizing his presence over her own ailing health.

"Un... I'm almost finished and will be there shortly!" he responded to Lily, adjusting his hair as he spoke.

"You're aware of how overly protective she is of you, so come see her as soon as you can. She's incredibly eager to lay eyes on you."

'Sigh! Based on the memories I possess, she truly is exceedingly protective of me. If something were to befall me, I dread to think what might happen to her.' Yuan murmured, contemplating the potential consequences. She is the type of person who would remain by my side for days without sustenance, were it not for the fact that she cannot leave her room, he reflected.

He donned his clothes and exited his room, finding his sister awaiting him just outside.

"Sis, why are you waiting here? Naturally, I would have come to you!"

"Ensuring you don't take too much time! We must see Mother right away, as her illness worsens with each passing moment, and I don't believe she has more than two months left to live." With a profoundly sorrowful expression, her hand covering her mouth as tears streamed down her cheeks, Lily remarked, her voice trembling as they proceeded towards their mother's chamber.

" . "

He abruptly halted his steps, casting a peculiar glance at his sister upon hearing her account of their mother's critical condition. The aura Yuan was now projecting instilled a sense of unease within Lily.'What is happening... How could fate deal me such a hand? Though I've found a family now, unlike my previous life as an orphan, my mother is on the brink of death. What transgression did I commit to deserve this? Why me...?' When he first awakened with this body's memories and discovered he had a family in this reincarnation, his heart soared with joy. However, that elation was short-lived as he soon learned his mother had less than two months left to live. The prospect of loss struck him with profound pain, and tears welled in his eyes, tracing paths down his cheeks. Though not the first 'Yuan' in this world, he now understood the anguish of losing a mother. 'Why can't I recall it? What is happening?' He questioned himself, bewildered by the severity of his mother's condition, a reality he couldn't remember. Suddenly, a warm embrace enveloped him, startling him out of his thoughts. Looking up, he saw his sister holding him tightly. "I know you're hurting, Yuan'er, just as I am. After finding out, I barely ate for days and succumbed to weeks of despair. But we must find a way forward, and so must you," Lily shared, her voice thick with emotion as she held him close and began to weep. "I understand, sister, but I swear I will find a cure for mother, even if it means sacrificing my very soul!" Yuan declared, his expression grave as he returned the embrace. "Let's go see Mom right now; we mustn't waste another moment!" Lily urged, pulling away from the hug and leading him towards their mother's room.
