My Beast Is the 12-Winged Angel Chapter 464 - 465: Mutation!

Previously on My Beast Is the 12-Winged Angel...
The Angel Holy City's defenses are failing under relentless demonic assault, with the barrier nearing collapse and key angels struggling against powerful foes. Queen Lanny learns the demons are opening a new Void passage, threatening to unleash more strength. Despite her advisors' pleas, Lanny resolves to personally lead a sacrifice squad to destroy the passage, believing only she can succeed.

Ten minutes later, in the Central Square of the Holy City.

Lanny stood at the head of the formation, the soldiers of the Angel Race standing in grim readiness behind her. She did not waste time with a long or dramatic speech.

"The target: The Demon Race passage that is about to stabilize."

"The mission: Total destruction, no matter the cost."

"Move out!"

As soon as the command left her lips, Lanny was the first to act. Spreading her ten wings, she led the charge at the very front of the vanguard!

...

Simultaneously.

Liu Ye hovered in mid-air, a faint Fire Law flickering around him. His once-glorious armor was now spider-webbed with cracks, and the guard on his left shoulder had been completely obliterated. The destruction revealed a gruesome wound where the bone was visible through the torn flesh.

Dark purple Demonic Qi writhed like parasitic insects along the edges of the injury. Blood trickled down his arm, coating the Holy Sword he held in a white-knuckled grip. His eight wings, the ultimate symbols of a War Angel’s prestige, had grown dull. Fine fractures covered the outermost pair.

His breathing was heavy and labored; every gasp made his chest heave, irritating dozens of wounds scattered across his frame. Facing him, three shadows radiating oppressive Demonic Qi had surrounded him in a triangular trap.

"Hehehe... War Angel, a grand title indeed, and your resolve is quite firm," the central Demon General remarked. He was the most massive of the three, clad in intimidating bone armor, and spoke with mocking delight. "But firm resolve makes for the most satisfying prey to crush, doesn't it?"

The other two demons mocked him in turn:

"Liu Ye, look at your condition. Who is left to save you?"

"That little new queen of yours?"

"She’s probably cowering somewhere right now, wetting her pants in terror!"

"Stop struggling; if you give up, we might just let you crawl away!"

Liu Ye ignored their insults entirely. He didn't even bother to look at his three enemies. Instead, his eyes drifted toward the Holy City, where he spotted a silver torrent in the distance. He knew immediately who it was, but he was powerless to intervene.

He had reached his breaking point. He was truly at the end of his strength.

"Cough... cough... cough!"

A violent coughing fit seized him, and he spat out golden blood containing fragments of his internal organs. He could feel his Life Force and power bleeding away into nothingness.

"Tsk, it seems you’ve truly reached the end of the line."

"Fine, let’s finish this."

"Don't worry, your little Angel Queen will be joining you in death very soon."

With those threats, the three demons attacked simultaneously. But just as they moved, the light in Liu Ye’s fading eyes suddenly flared. Two spheres of brilliant golden fire ignited within them, threatening to incinerate everything in sight!

He was burning his very essence! It was a final, desperate act of total defiance!

Elsewhere, the situation was even more catastrophic.

In the sector where the four Great Angels were engaged, the Guardian Angel had only four functional wings remaining. The Judgment Angel’s right hand, which had held his sword, was gone. The other two Great Angels were in similarly horrific states.

Their opponents—two Totem Tier Nine demons—floated nearby, watching the struggle with bored amusement.

"Pathetic, truly miserable! Is this the extent of the Angel Race? You aren't even worth the effort of a warm-up."

"Precisely! Aren't Angels supposed to be legendary warriors? Why are the four of you so weak?"

The Great Angels' expressions darkened at the mockery, but they were helpless. The Angel Realm had enjoyed peace for too long, leaving them far weaker than a standard Totem Tier Nine. Years of living in comfort had eroded their combat instincts and prowess.

The four exchanged a silent look, reaching a grim consensus. They knew they would likely die here today. However, not one of them considered fleeing. Despite their past political rivalries and support for different heirs, all grudges were now forgotten.

"Together then. Even if we fall, we take them to the grave with us!"

"My thoughts exactly."

"Charge!"

...

Near the Holy City, a massive space vortex had partially manifested. It looked like a swirling, inverted abyss of purple light in the heavens. Liquid Demonic Qi dripped from its center, causing the ground to hiss and sizzle upon contact. Surrounding this vortex were dozens of Magic Stone Pillars carved with Demon Patterns.

Guarding these pillars were not just low and mid-tier demons, but two terrifying entities whose sheer power caused the space around them to warp.

Lanny’s strike team had suffered heavy losses just to reach this inner sanctum. Her original force of hundreds had been whittled down to fewer than eighty warriors. Everyone was wounded; they were all at their absolute limit. The sight of the guardians brought an immediate wave of despair.

Totem Tier Nine! There were two Totem Tier Nine demons protecting the Void passage!

"Oh, look, little mice have made it this far!"

"No, wait! These are big mice!"

One of the high-tier demons stared at Lanny, his eyes gleaming with excitement. Their original orders were simply to ensure the Void passage remained intact for the arrival of the Lord Demon God. There was no room for failure. But this was an unexpected prize—the Queen of the Angel Race had delivered herself to them.

"Your Majesty... we..."

The Angel standing beside Lanny was trembling. It wasn't cowardice, but the instinctive reaction of a living being facing an insurmountable power gap. Against one Totem Tier Nine, they might have sacrificed themselves to let Lanny escape. Against two, there was no way out.

Lanny’s face was deathly pale, her knuckles white as she gripped her sword. she had expected guardians, but she had never imagined two Totem Tier Nine demons would be stationed here. Was there truly no hope left?

"Form the line!"

Lanny bit her tongue hard, the sharp sting and the taste of copper snapping her back to focus.

"If we are to die, we die in battle! Target the nearest Magic Crystal Pillar! We must destroy at least one!"

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

The surviving soldiers let out a final, defiant roar. They knew they were like moths flying into a flame, but as their Queen commanded, this was their path.

"Such commendable bravery, yet so incredibly foolish," one demon sneered, lifting a hand as destructive waves of energy gathered. "As a reward for your stupidity, I shall grant you a magnificent burial!"

In an instant, thick Demonic Qi formed a cage around the group. The other demon began weaving black lightning from his own energy. The combined might of two Totem Tier Nine demons was about to fall. If the strike landed, Lanny and her followers would be erased instantly.

But at that exact moment—

"Rippppp——!!!"

A violent, tearing sound echoed across the sky! It wasn't the sound of an explosion or thunder; it was the sound of the fabric of reality being shredded.

The demons' attacks froze mid-air. Lanny and her squad looked up in shock. They witnessed a sight that would be burned into their memories forever.

The purple, demon-tainted sky was being torn apart like a cheap piece of fabric by an invisible, incredibly sharp force. A massive rift, stretching a thousand meters, was forcibly pried open. And from the heart of that tear, a figure wreathed in starlight began a slow, graceful descent.
