My attributes are increasing infinitely Chapter 466: Vampire vs Werewolf
Previously on My attributes are increasing infinitely...
James and Ethan progressed toward the city's core. The mayor's home was situated in the central area, a location James had frequented on several occasions previously, but never with intentions as foreboding as these.
During their journey on foot, Ethan's heightened senses detected an element that caused him to hesitate inwardly. A subtle fragrance lingered in the atmosphere, barely perceptible yet impossible to ignore. It was an aroma familiar to him from the alternate realm he had once explored, tied to a species that suddenly seemed highly pertinent to their ongoing inquiry.
Werewolf, the term echoed distinctly in his thoughts.
"So, supernatural beings are indeed residing here. That implies other species could have taken root in this realm too," Ethan pondered.
He cast a quick look at James from the side, yet his partner kept advancing without any noticeable response, entirely ignorant of the trace Ethan's advanced senses had captured.
Ethan's mind and vital organs operated at a superior level compared to anyone else in this realm, accounting for his ability to detect the odor from afar while James stayed unaware.
"Could the mayor be responsible for the killings?" Ethan inquired, shattering the quiet that had grown between them.
James pondered the query thoughtfully. "It's possible, although he could have employed some savage beasts to execute the assaults, right?"
Ethan's lips curved faintly. "Imagine if he is one himself?"
James stopped abruptly, his footwear grinding on the cobblestone path. That abrupt pause revealed the profound impact of Ethan's statement.
"What exactly are you implying?" James pivoted to confront him, his face transitioning from intrigue to worry.
Ethan pressed on without haste. "There might be additional sentient groups coexisting on this planet with humanity. Groups capable of altering their forms to mingle among us."
James matched his stride once more, albeit with evident reluctance in his steps. "Do you truly accept that idea? My family's records include speculations on such matters, but they've stayed as mere hypotheses. Never has solid proof emerged to validate them."
"We might uncover that proof upon reaching the mayor," Ethan responded. "Wouldn't that be intriguing?"
They had scarcely traversed another street when Ethan spotted a cluster of individuals dashing by, all heading uniformly with clear intent. His superior awareness instantly recognized them as a werewolf pack racing off with pressing resolve.
"We should trail them," Ethan suggested, swiftly adjusting direction to pursue the band.
James complied without hesitation, though his gaze flickered repeatedly toward the hurrying forms. "What are those folks? Why the rush?"
"You'll understand shortly," Ethan answered softly. "Just keep pace silently and watch."
While shadowing the pack through the twisting lanes, the werewolves conversed among themselves, their dialogue reaching Ethan's attuned hearing.
"Why would a vampire lord show up to see our chief at this moment?" one queried, his tone laced with real bewilderment.
Another replied with similar doubt. "I'm unsure. Yet this is said to be that lord's domain, and our leader has stirred trouble over the last year. Maybe that's why he's here? After all, humans act as the blood supply for vampires."
Ethan grinned inwardly. This mirrored the timeless rivalry between vampires and werewolves, a conflict he'd encountered in the realms he'd traversed. They were perpetual foes, vying for land and sustenance, with humans trapped amid the strife. In this world, though, humanity had risen strong enough to compel both hidden factions to lurk in secrecy.
Before long, they reached a grand estate that overshadowed the nearby terrain. The structure lay utterly shrouded in gloom, without a glimmer piercing its numerous panes. No sentries guarded the entrance, no staff stirred on the premises. The whole property exuded a chilling void.
"The mayor sure knows how to cultivate secrecy," James murmured. "Now I'm even more eager to discover his secrets. Let's enter and uncover the truth."
Ethan laid a cautionary grip on his shoulder. "Hold on. We'll get spotted right away if we go straight in. Better to look for a rear access."
They had only started veering to the manor's back when an entity dropped from above. The new moon offered no illumination, rendering the sky pitch black, but Ethan's sight cut through the obscurity with ease. A figure resembling a human, sporting enormous bat wings tucked to its sides, alighted noiselessly upon the roof.
James perceived the motion too, albeit as a shadowy outline against the stars. "Ethan, did you catch that? Was it a person with wings? Some invention I'm not aware of?"
"We're entering now," Ethan stated firmly.
He deployed his psychic field, allowing it to sweep across the estate like a unseen surge. His awareness brushed against thirteen werewolves dispersed inside the structure and a single vampire positioned in what seemed the primary chamber. The vampire wielded about seven tons of bodily force, formidable against a ninth-level force expert who could handle five tons, yet negligible beside Ethan's vast prowess.
With a gentle push of intent, Ethan induced unconsciousness in all except the vampire and the werewolf chief.
"James, stay put here," Ethan directed. "If anything nears, strike without restraint. Don't hesitate."
Ere James could reply, Ethan vanished into the enveloping darkness around the estate.

Within the central hall, candle flames wavered in the obscurity, their glow projecting shifting silhouettes on the surfaces. Two figures faced one another, their stances taut with strain.
The striking male with blood-red eyes initiated the exchange, his tone bearing the icy command of someone used to total submission. "I granted you one year in this city. That period is over. Depart at once."
The mayor, a burly individual with shrewd gaze, showed no recoil from the order. "This area matters to me similarly. Martial cultivators have overrun my original homeland. Why not let me remain? I'll guarantee your followers are protected from the werewolf groups prowling these roads."
A abrupt force burst from the vampire's form, a pressure that bent the candle fires into frenzied motion. "Are you daring to intimidate a vampire lord?" he inquired evenly.
The werewolf opposite him was evidently outmatched by that might, but he held his poise. "I meant no intimidation. I simply propose there's no strong motive to expel me. I'll limit my pursuits, confining them to tolerable levels."
"The discussion ends here." The vampire stood, his wings spreading from his back. "This domain is mine. I tolerated your presence this far solely due to your aid in acquiring that artifact. But the agreement is done, and so is your stay."
The mayor's stare sharpened, shedding all facade of politeness. "You've given me no choice."
From his attire, he drew a syringe brimming with shadowy fluid and jabbed it into his skin before the vampire could move.
The vampire detected the peril instantly, surging to his utmost stature as his fangs protruded and his visage warped into a fiercer aspect.
Yet the mayor's change had commenced. His frame swelled, skeletal structure snapping and reshaping, sinews swelling under tautening hide. In mere moments, a ten-foot werewolf occupied the mayor's former spot, its coat jet black rather than the usual silver.
"You used alpha serum?" The vampire's complexion drained, true dread invading his scarlet gaze.
The werewolf gave no answer. Its psyche had plunged into frenzied wrath, logic devoured by fury and might. A thunderous bellow burst from its maw as it hurtled toward the vampire.
Enormous paws seized the vampire's neck, hoisting him aloft with ease. The vampire resisted, raking at the unyielding hold, but the werewolf's power had surged to inconceivable heights. As demise loomed close, the vampire initiated his shift.
His physique grew to rival the werewolf's ten-foot stature, traits contorting into a hellish monstrosity. Bat wings unfurled broadly while teeth sharpened and talons grew. The colossal entities collided, trading strike upon ruinous strike.
Even after the vampire's metamorphosis, the werewolf dominated the fray. Every impact shoved the vampire rearward, every bellow quaked the estate's base.
