The name Mu Hanyan was undeniably prominent and illustrious within the Canglan Sect. At first, they felt she was like a massive mountain pressing down on them, making it hard for them to breathe. With Mu Hanyan around, their Master Chen Ziyu would never spare them a glance. So, they once desperately tried to catch up with Mu Hanyan, but later they realized that no matter how hard they tried, they could never catch up.
When a person is slightly stronger than others, they might inspire envy and jealousy. But when they are overwhelmingly powerful, there’s only fear. Their jealousy toward Mu Hanyan had long turned into fear. The awe-inspiring sword Mu Hanyan displayed in the Secret Realm had left too deep an impression on them. This impression even turned into a psychological shadow that affected their future cultivation.
People rumored that Chen Ziyu and Mu Hanyan were matched in strength and were meant to be together, including Chen Ziyu himself. However, Chen Ziyu didn’t see things as clearly as his two disciples did. The two female disciples were well aware that the strength Mu Hanyan showed in front of others was not her true strength. She far exceeded her Master Chen Ziyu. If they angered Mu Hanyan, they were genuinely worried if their master could even withstand three moves from her. If that were to happen, their proud master might find his life ruined.
At this moment, Chen Ziyu was unaware of his disciples’ thoughts. His heart and mind were completely occupied by Mu Hanyan. What he most wanted to do at this moment was to kill Ye Lanfeng and Fen Qianji!
...
After Mu Hanyan had been walking with Ye Lanfeng and Fen Qianji for over an hour, they finally arrived at the foot of the highest mountain peak.
"Here..." Ye Lanfeng and Fen Qianji were slightly surprised, as this place was unusually quiet. There were no bird calls or insect chirps, and strangely, the air here seemed fresher, the leaves greener, and the flowers more vibrant.
"It’s a bit strange indeed," Mu Hanyan said, looking ahead. "I feel something unusual here. There’s always a voice in my mind telling me that the legends are true. A phoenix truly once resided here."
"Senior Sister is right. This place is extraordinary," Ye Lanfeng nodded.
Fen Qianji rolled his eyes at Ye Lanfeng in a place Mu Hanyan couldn’t see. Always spouting nonsense to suck up! Anyone with eyes could see this place is unusual.
"Look at that lake ahead," Mu Hanyan pointed to a sapphire-green lake at the foot of the mountain and said in a low voice, "The seal is down there, at its heart."
"In the lake, Senior Sister, how did you discover there’s a seal inside?" Fen Qianji asked, somewhat puzzled.
"I discovered it while bored," Mu Hanyan said somewhat sheepishly. "Last time, while bored, I threw a stone down, accidentally infusing it with Qi. As a result, there was a reaction from below, and out of curiosity, I went down to check and discovered another world at the lake’s bottom. Since then, every time I lead a team in here, I’d come take a look alone."
"Another world?" Ye Lanfeng looked at the tranquil lake surface, though the surface indeed revealed nothing unusual below.
"Just follow me," Mu Hanyan said, enveloping her whole body with Qi before diving straight into the lake.
Ye Lanfeng and Fen Qianji didn’t follow her immediately but exchanged a glance, glanced backward, and both made a hand gesture. After a slight disturbance in the air behind them settled down, they, acting as if nothing happened, wrapped their bodies in Qi and submerged, chasing after Mu Hanyan.
Before long, Chen Ziyu and his two disciples caught up. Looking at the sapphire, tranquil lake ahead, Chen Ziyu frowned, "Where have they gone? Did they go under the lake?"
"But what would they do at the bottom of the lake?" asked one of the disciples named Yi Qiu, puzzled.
"Perhaps they discovered something down there," speculated another disciple named Xia Lan.
"Let’s go find out," Chen Ziyu said and stepped forward, but just one step later, a terrifying pressure suddenly emerged, knocking Chen Ziyu flying back. He spewed blood like a stringless kite flying backward.
Yi Qiu and Xia Lan screamed as they rushed over to catch Chen Ziyu but were too late. Chen Ziyu slammed heavily onto the ground, creating a deep pit as blood gushed from his mouth again.
"Master!" Yi Qiu and Xia Lan hastily took out an Elixir and stuffed it into Chen Ziyu’s mouth.
Chen Ziyu finally collected himself, coughing out a mouthful of blood, looking ahead with uncertainty. Clearly, there seemed to be nothing in front, so how did he suddenly get attacked? There was no one and no array fluctuations. Yet, the terrifying power he encountered just now was real.
"Master, what’s going on here?" Yi Qiu asked worriedly, looking at Chen Ziyu.
"Master, is there an array here?" Xia Lan cautiously looked ahead.
"Doesn’t seem like it," Chen Ziyu said, sitting cross-legged to digest the effect of the consumed Elixir, his face pale. "Could be something else." That method of ambush was beyond his understanding, and he didn’t know what it was.
"Master, you should rest here while I investigate a bit further," Xia Lan stood up, cautiously moving forward step by step. She knew it was futile to try to persuade her master to leave now; she might as well help him continue onward.
"Be careful," Chen Ziyu advised, but he didn’t stop Xia Lan.
Seeing this, Yi Qiu sighed inwardly. Xia Lan was so foolish, yet wasn’t she the same?
Xia Lan cautiously moved forward, being especially careful when she reached the spot where Chen Ziyu was knocked flying. But she still felt nothing unusual, taking one step at a time, crossing through without any disturbance. It seemed like her master had triggered some prohibition causing him to be blown away? Additionally, this prohibition was a one-time trigger; after one activation, it wouldn’t happen again.
As a precaution, Xia Lan made herself a test subject, moving around the area to be sure there were no more prohibitions before turning back to Chen Ziyu.
"Master, there shouldn’t be any more," Xia Lan said, though Chen Ziyu could see this even if she didn’t mention it. He seemed to have hit some prohibition with bad luck.
"Let’s go," Chen Ziyu stood up, taking the lead.
Xia Lan and Yi Qiu followed behind, thinking things should be fine this time.
Yet... when Chen Ziyu moved forward, he once again got hit by a terrifying force, getting knocked back like a stringless kite all over again.
Both Xia Lan and Yi Qiu quickly spun around to chase after him again. They were both shocked and confused. What was going on? Xia Lan had clearly investigated and found no issues whatsoever, and she passed through without triggering any prohibitions. So why did Chen Ziyu encounter an accident when he went through again?
This time, Chen Ziyu’s injuries were more severe, blood gushing from his mouth like a fountain. It was evident this time that his internal organs were injured.
