MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 986: Friend

Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
Lucian grappled with the devastating backlash of his Fourth Wall Breaking ability, a power that transcended all known boundaries and exacted the ultimate price: his life. As his vitality faded, he reflected without regret on his family's unwavering support, his deep love for Veronica, and the ironic echoes of his past life on Earth, including his enduring rivalry with Aaaninja. Even in his final moments, he shared a poignant exchange with his resurrecting rival, affirming the choice before death claimed him.

Aaaninja Chronisynth Eternos let out a deep sigh while observing Lucian Darkheart shut his eyes and embrace his impending doom. For a brief instant, Aaaninja remained utterly still; through his Eyes Of Genesis, the life force ebbed away from Lucian’s frame, and his Mana Rank plunged at an alarming pace, tumbling down as if the very fabric of reality sought to peel away his essence bit by bit.

A fleeting pang gripped Aaaninja’s chest. All through his long existence, genuine companionship had eluded him, since his extraordinary and unmatched prowess left others unable to match his stride. Anyone who approached him harbored ulterior motives, seeking to exploit his gifts, yet Aaaninja brushed them aside with cool disinterest and effortless aloofness.

Lucian counted among the mere two companions Aaaninja had ever formed in his lifetime. Indeed, over the span of his century-long life, only Anthony and Lucian had earned that bond. And now, just as he’d discovered allies he could trust without doubt or barriers, one lay dying before his very gaze, his essence fading like grains slipping through invisible grasp.

His defeat at Lucian’s hands didn’t breed resentment or shift his regard in the least. On the contrary, Lucian stayed his steadfast ally, and no loyal companion would idly witness another’s end without challenging the heavens, the earth, and destiny’s cruel design to halt it.

Suddenly, a massive surge of mana erupted from Aaaninja’s core. Even though the fight had drained his reserves completely, the severing of his head followed by his revival had replenished him to full strength. The atmosphere howled as if clawed by unseen talons, worlds quaked in their paths, stars grew faint and far-off lights wavered while mana scorched through spacetime’s weave, twisting the cosmos beneath its overwhelming force.

Aaaninja’s words resounded through the crumbling void as he invoked one of his abilities;

Causal Nexus Control

Instantly upon triggering the ability, temporal essences quivered with ecstatic devotion, then twisted and enveloped him and Lucian in swift obedience to the profound command woven into the technique.

Through Causal Nexus Control, Aaaninja could reshape the threads of cause and effect, steering results by tweaking the connections that tied events in sequence. Right then, his goal was to secure Lucian’s survival and restore his Mana Rank. Aaaninja summoned his Eyes Of Genesis anew, propelling the ability’s might to dizzying heights never before reached.

Around the pair, time warped in chaotic frenzy; it rushed forward, then slowed to a crawl, then dissolved completely before snapping back in shattered segments, acting wildly as if uncertain of its own flow.

Suddenly, Aaaninja’s Eyes Of Genesis burst forth in a horrific spray of gore and fragments, but he showed no sign of distress. In the blink of an eye, fresh Eyes Of Genesis reformed flawlessly, taking the place of the ruined pair. Yet the toll didn’t end there; he started coughing up thick, shadowy blood that marred the emptiness.

Still, Aaaninja pressed on without pause. He channeled even greater mana into the ability, clenching his jaw while his eyes streamed red, his nostrils dripped scarlet, his eardrums burst, his lips bubbled with blood, his chest seared like it was on fire, his pulse throbbed in agony from the pressure, his core shook as though on the verge of breaking. Even so, Aaaninja wouldn’t yield. Suffering was just a feeling he could withstand, a minor cost to thwart what fate had decreed.

Yet despite his every effort, nothing yielded results. After all, he grappled with reversing a repercussion from an unknown force. Though immensely strong, he lacked the might to overturn a fixed truth operating on realms far beyond his grasp... for now.

‘I must summon the River Of Time,’ he decided inwardly, forging the link right away without a second’s pause.

The River Of Time possessed awareness. Though it appeared as a streaming waterway, that form didn’t bar it from thought or understanding. From the start, the River Of Time had observed everything; its concealed watch had locked onto Lucian the instant he unleashed that mysterious, supremely potent power. Indeed, such a force had overshadowed even the River Of Time itself—how few beings could rival its dominion?

Typically, the River Of Time stayed neutral in worldly matters, merely witnessing as occurrences followed their fated course, but now it chose to act at Aaaninja’s plea, driven also by intrigue. Without delay, it answered him, dispatching its message through the endless expanse.

Aaaninja’s brow furrowed at once upon hearing the River Of Time’s words. It urged him to forsake saving it all for now—including Lucian’s Mana Rank, his techniques and powers, and his severe wounds. Given that the backlash’s origin loomed above their reach, all focus should pour into safeguarding Lucian Darkheart’s survival alone. With that achieved... they’d tackle the rest later when the time came.

Aaaninja ground his teeth. Without his techniques and powers, would Lucian keep that mocking, boldly assured demeanor? Without his Mana Rank or the strength that shaped him, would he truly be the same?

But Aaaninja recognized he couldn’t hesitate. He consented at once, and the River Of Time launched into action promptly. A devastating flood of Temporal Quanta ripped across the galaxy as a vast, radiant, ceaseless golden stream burst into visible form within the world. From its depths, a tremendous, immense golden orb emerged, crafted wholly from Continuum Specks, Momentshards, Hourglass Grains, Temporal Granules, Time Atoms, and Chrono Dust, every particle glowing with ancient command.

In that instant, tiers and flows of chronal force beyond Aaaninja’s wildest imagination poured down from the celestial gaze. They surged into him, overwhelming his essence with unfathomable might, with Principles and Ideas he’d never dreamed of until precisely then.

Aaaninja’s thoughts, spirit, form, and sight overflowed with vast potency. His awareness swelled with insight until his mind teetered on rupture from the burden, yet the River Of Time bolstered and upheld him, keeping his intellect whole through powers transcending human bounds.

Armed with what felt like endless mana and limitless wisdom at his command, Aaaninja’s mouth opened as he uttered, his Eyes Of Genesis advancing still further while the dial-like designs inside spun, the right one whirling smoothly clockwise, the left circling exactly counterclockwise, marking harmony with the fundamental tide of forever.
