[One-time special privilege: The Host is allowed to wake The Unbound from sleep whenever and wherever. The Host can make any single request when The Unbound wakes up, and The Unbound will fulfill it to the best of his abilities and powers, no matter how ridiculous it is or sounds]

Anthony was stunned when he read the details of the one-time special privilege. It was no different from having the ultimate trump card. Being able to wake up The Unbound and having the guarantee that the being would do anything he was asked was simply too insane for Anthony.

Anthony couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if he asked for all the powers in Existence and beyond it. It was an open cheque to make the impossible possible.

[The Unbound smiles and is happy you love the special privilege he has given]

[The Unbound says that if you use your special privilege right now to make a ridiculous demand, like forcefully powering you up to their level, he would accept it immediately]

[The Unbound says that although he can only bring you to one step below him, you would have to take things from there]

Anthony was speechless as he read the message. He immediately shot to his feet in pure shock. One step below was basically just two steps below ???. If he cashed in the privilege now, he would immediately touch the Pinnacle of Existence. Even after everything he had experienced since obtaining the system, those words still sounded too absurd to be real.

This was the true meaning of "one step to ascend the Heavens."

Although the chasm between one step below The Unbound and The Unbound’s level would be unimaginable, as it might take countless eons to cross, then what of the chasm between The Unbound, Romulus, and ??? himself? If it were truly possible and easy to cross, they would have already done so.

Of course, it could be that Romulus and the rest had never tried, or perhaps that was simply where their existence capped.

But... Anthony knew ??? would never allow such an interference, as the man was simply enjoying the show too much to permit such a skip. ??? didn’t even allow Anthony to jump from a Lower Galaxy to an Upper Galaxy way too early, so why would he suddenly allow this to happen?

[The Unbound says that children are allowed to be rebellious every once in a while, and ??? has to deal with his rebellion if you ever wish for this]

[The Unbound thinks for a moment and immediately comes up with an offer]

[The Unbound asks if you are ready to drop everything and accept this direct ascension. He says he would ascend everyone you wish, ranging from family to friends if you desire, so you all can remain in touch on an Existential level]

Anthony stayed silent for a moment. Anyone else would have jumped at this offer. Even Jarod, who was currently in his own room, would literally kill for it. Yet here Anthony was, needing a few minutes to think about it. The Unbound didn’t rush; one eye remained awake while he slept with the other, patiently waiting for Anthony’s answer.

Anthony closed his eyes for a moment as he calmed his thoughts before speaking. "I decline. I will use the special privilege when I truly need it."

Anthony had turned down an offer that many people would kill him for if they ever found out.

Anthony wouldn’t lie; he enjoyed the journey every step of the way. It was one of the reasons he loved his life. The ups and downs, the fights, the short peace that came after each battle and conflict, and the friends he made along every level and path of cultivation were all precious experiences that he never wanted to lose.

Yes, reaching ???’s level was his goal, and he would accept every shortcut and means he could find. But he wouldn’t abandon the thrill that came with it. If everything were simply handed to him, then every hardship he had overcome, every lesson he had learned, and every victory he had earned through his own efforts would lose a part of their meaning.

Anthony was a firm believer in enjoying life as one lived it. This was the reason why he could never understand people who reincarnated suddenly turned into cultivation maniacs or cold machines that did nothing but fight and train. He wasn’t about to become one of those people.

Besides, he would never use this one-time special privilege until he truly needed it. After all, it was a one-time privilege, not one that could be used twice. Such a priceless opportunity wasn’t something to waste on momentary temptation or impatience.

Anthony stayed silent for a moment as he simply sat there, not knowing what to say. His mind burned with the temptation to use the special privilege and do something outrageous with it. Even after rejecting the offer, a small part of him couldn’t help but imagine what it would feel like to stand just one step beneath The Unbound. But as the thought crossed his mind, the system’s messages appeared once again.

[The Divine Flame sighs and gives up. He will send his gift to Vega]

[The Divine Flame notices the system is sending the Host notifications of his thoughts]

With that, the messages vanished as though they had never existed.

Anthony shook his head. Romulus was simply too stingy. He wasn’t surprised that the guy didn’t send a single thing to him. But still, he smiled. At least Vega was getting something from the stingy Divine Flame.

’I wonder how Vega is doing,’ Anthony thought to himself momentarily as he forgot about his own reward for a split second at the thought of Vega.
