The Gardot fleet launched a desperate assault against the insect swarm, sacrificing many ships to clear a path for a superweapon. While the weapon initially devastated the vanguard, it was revealed to be only a fraction of the enemy force. A colossal wave of Bone-faced Insect Beasts emerged from new rifts, and a Brain Worm declared humanity's struggle futile. Just as despair set in, a mysterious figure atop a bone whale appeared.
