Marvel: The Villain Chapter 400 Zombie

"Join forces?"
Throughout the entire battle, Jason had held the absolute advantage. Under such circumstances, the fact that he would take the initiative to propose an alliance made Thanos immediately suspicious.
"Yes, you heard me right."
Having received Jason’s confirmation again, Thanos seemed to gain interest. "Fine. Let’s hear it then. How would this ’alliance’ work?"
"It’s simple! You give me those two Stones. Once I have all six, I’ll snap my fingers for you and wipe out half the universe’s population," Jason stated his proposal.
"Give the Stones to you..." Thanos chuckled. "And then what?"
"And then..." Jason thought for a moment. "If you want to keep fighting, you can lead your men with us and fight side-by-side for our ideals. If you’re tired of fighting, you can retire early. I’ll find you a beautiful planet with stunning scenery where you can live a peaceful life, working at sunrise and resting at sunset."
"Hmm. This proposal fulfills both our dreams simultaneously. It does sound quite good," Thanos nodded slightly, his tone appreciative. "However, I have one question."
"Go ahead. As long as the main direction remains unchanged, we can discuss the specifics."
Thanos asked, "What guarantee do I have that once you possess the Infinity Stones, you won’t turn around and kill me, or simply refuse to snap those fingers?"
Hearing this, Jason shook his head slightly and explained, "There’s no way to guarantee that. I can only tell you that back on Earth, I was a ’man of society,’ and the most important quality in that line of work is integrity."
"In that case, I have a counter-proposal," Thanos said with a slight sneer after a brief moment of reflection. "You give the Stones to me. After I fulfill my dream, I will return them to you. Titans never lie—Gamora should have mentioned that to you."
As those words were spoken, the smile on Jason’s face gradually faded, replaced by a cold expression.
"First: I said the Stones are inside my body; you might have misinterpreted that. To be more precise, the Stones have been absorbed by me and have completely merged with my being. Second: Though there is no referee here, we both know that if this battle continues, my chances of winning are far greater. Therefore, the initiative must remain in my hands. Third: I’ve had a difficult life since childhood, which has left me with a long-term lack of security. Do you think a man like me would entrust his life to someone else?"
After hearing the three reasons, Thanos spoke as well. "That makes sense. But by the same token, I cannot place the power over my life and death in the hands of an outsider."
Jason spread his hands. "So, there’s nothing more to discuss?"
Thanos clenched the Infinity Gauntlet, his expression turning wary. "Unless you agree to give the Stones to me."
"Have you really thought this through? I was seriously negotiating with you! And I can guarantee that for you, this is the best possible outcome." Seeing the proposal on the verge of collapse, Jason tried one last time to save it.
Thanos shook his head. "Child, let me remind you. As long as the battle isn’t over, you must never lower your guard. You are too arrogant."
"Perhaps." Jason let out a disappointed sigh.
The negotiation plan had failed completely, but he did not initiate an attack. Thanos, in a position of weakness, could only defend and did not dare to act rashly. The two remained in silence for a long time...
Jason finally looked up and asked, "Actually, I still have one doubt in my mind?"
"Speak. I have lived longer than you; perhaps I can offer some enlightenment." Thanos’s expression was indifferent, but he did not relax his guard in the slightest.
Jason organized his thoughts and spoke with a serious expression: "Collecting all six Infinity Stones is equivalent to ruling the universe. Essentially, you can do whatever you want."
"Correct," Thanos nodded.
Jason frowned and asked, "In that case, why don’t you just snap your fingers and provide the entire universe with inexhaustible, infinite resources?"
Thanos: "..."
"Don’t tell me it’s impossible. Just shorten the growth cycles of plants and crops, speed up the evolution of minerals, increase the reproduction rates of livestock, and accelerate the technological levels of every civilization... realizing infinite resources is not an extravagant dream."
Hearing Jason raise this question, Thanos was truly surprised. After mulling it over for a while, he tried to argue: "Resources are physical; even if you fill the universe, they cannot be truly infinite. As long as life breeds without restraint, no matter how many resources there are, they will eventually be consumed. Extinction is only a matter of time."
Jason replied, "The ultimate end might be like that, but for it to evolve to that point would take at least tens of thousands of years, if not longer. But if you choose to slaughter half the life in the universe, the result will be different."
"Those who fear the extinction of their race will certainly speed up population replacement. With various policies working together, it wouldn’t take more than a few decades to return to the previous scale. In the end, after going in a big circle, won’t you have worked for nothing?"
"This..." Thanos’s original expression of confidence vanished, replaced by a stunned silence.
Jason had many ideas and continued: "So by comparison, increasing the resource supply capacity of the universe is much more reliable. You could go from being a slayer to a savior, and hundreds of quadrillions of lives across the universe would be grateful to you."
"..." Thanos was speechless. He frowned, desperately trying to find a flaw in the plan.
But Jason’s Talk-no-Jutsu wasn’t over yet: "Oh, and there’s another way. Since the key to the problem is the unrestrained breeding of life, why don’t you modify their reproductive cycles? Take us Earthlings, for example—you could extend a ten-month pregnancy to three years. In that case, the Earth’s population would inevitably plummet, and you wouldn’t even have to get your hands dirty. Beyond that, you could modify reproductive instincts in the genes. Fewer lecherous people, more virtuous, abstemious men. Or more directly, you could increase the probability of homosexuality, letting ’boy-on-boy’ and ’girl-on-girl’ become the mainstream..."
Jason reeled off seven or eight methods that could cause the population to plummet. This barrage of verbal assault threw Thanos into a state of total mental chaos. After comparing the various values of each method, he made a comprehensive judgment. It seemed that every single one of them was more reliable, more long-term, and more humane than his mass genocide.
Thanos couldn’t help but fall into a deep state of self-doubt. He had spent decades brewing and planning this mission, only for it to be overturned in a few sentences by a wet-behind-the-ears kid. This caused his mental state to explode, making it hard for him to accept. Most importantly, the fact that Jason could come up with several methods in such a short time meant there were many ways to solve the population explosion problem—mass genocide wasn’t necessarily required. If he had gathered some intelligent and talented people to brainstorm, perhaps they could have come up with an even more perfect idea.
Looking back on those years, he had led his troops to invade over a thousand planets, and billions of lives had died at his hands. And the result? Not only was it a waste of effort, but it had also caused his beloved daughter, Gamora, to harbor hatred for him. Thanos finally realized at this moment that he was truly wrong. There were a thousand ways to solve the problem, yet he had chosen the stupidest and most ineffective one.
How should the road ahead be traveled? Thanos had no answer. At this moment, he was like a child lost in a forest, at a complete loss.
At that very moment! At the exact instant his psychological defenses crumbled!
Jason, who had been silently watching him, suddenly broke into a look of wild ecstasy. His pale blue pupils instantly turned golden.
Success! This was the plan he had been brewing for a long time. Jason had known from the start that an ambitious man like Thanos would never submit to another. Therefore, the only way to defeat him was through "Talk-no-Jutsu." Looking back at the movies, TV shows, and anime of his past life... although the "Talk-no-Jutsu" technique was often criticized, for certain bosses with deep-seated obsessions, it truly was the best method.
Jason’s plan was to use verbal manipulation to plunge Thanos into confusion and self-doubt, and then use the Mind Stone to completely control him. Although Thanos held a tight grip on the Infinity Gauntlet, at the moment his mental defenses collapsed, the Mind Stone could follow the flow and intensify the negative emotions.
From a practical standpoint, Thanos would remain in this stunned state, unable to extricate himself. Because he had two Stones protecting him, this kind of guided mind control could only last for less than a second. However, for a powerhouse of Jason’s level, one second was enough to kill him a hundred times.
"Arrgh!"
Jason let out a roar as energy was completely released from his body. With lightning speed, he lunged in front of Thanos, swung the energy blade in his hand, and severed his left arm.
A cold flash of light passed through! After Thanos sensed something was wrong, it took him only a fraction of a second to snap back to reality. And then... a pain surged through him. He looked back to see his left arm was gone, empty and dripping with blood.
"You look like a purple sweet potato monster; I thought your blood would be purple too."
Jason stood not far away, holding the severed arm, his tone grim. The gushing blood stained his clothes and splashed onto his face, making his cold smile look even more gruesome.
Thanos clutched his left shoulder, looking at him with a complex expression. He had been careless! After a lifetime of conquest and killing countless enemies, he had actually been careless at the most critical moment. Titans were straightforward by nature; they spoke plainly and disliked schemes and deception, and they certainly weren’t as silver-tongued as Jason. Thanos was a true Titan; he had originally looked down on those who only used their mouths to get things done. But karma is a bitch, and in the end, he had actually fallen to a person like that.
"Sigh..." He let out a long sigh, a look of remorse appearing on his face. "Since it has come to this... take the Stones. I hope you can fulfill my mission for me!"
Hearing this, Jason said, "Isn’t it a bit too late to be saying that now?"
Thanos ignored him and continued: "I’ve thought it over carefully just now. My method truly had major flaws, but the universe certainly needs correction. If you want to rule the universe long-term in the future, this is a problem you cannot bypass. I hope you can find a better way."
Jason reached out to pry the two Infinity Stones off the gauntlet, then tossed the arm back to Thanos. "The way you’re talking sounds a bit like you’re giving your final words."
Thanos looked at the Infinity Gauntlet and snorted coldly: "If I didn’t say it like this, do you mean to tell me you would actually let me live?"
"Of course not!" Jason said firmly. "You are too dangerous. Leaving you alive would always be a threat; who knows when you might pop up again."
"Very good!" Thanos laughed helplessly. "Because I was thinking the same thing."
"Heh. Even though we are two of a kind, in the end, we can’t walk the same path," Jason said with some emotion. Even if Thanos had surrendered the Stones and agreed to cooperate just now, Jason would have killed him immediately anyway.
"Jason..." Thanos suddenly spoke: "Finally, I have one request I hope you will grant. Don’t worry, it’s not what you think."
"Fine, tell me then."
Thanos turned to look at the peak that had been leveled. "I pushed Gamora off the peak and let her become the sacrifice for the Soul Stone. Afterward, I tried to use the Reality Stone to bring her back, but I failed."
Jason analyzed: "A sacrifice for the Soul Stone? Then the problem likely lies with the soul."
"I thought so too." Thanos sighed: "My mastery over the Stones is far inferior to yours. I hope you will use the Soul Stone to sense Gamora’s location. I want to go find her."
Jason showed a suspicious expression. "If the theory is true, you will also become a sacrifice for the Soul Stone, dying completely with no way to be resurrected."
Thanos’s expression was one of grief: "I did something wrong. I am sorry for that child. I want to apologize to her and spend an infinite amount of time begging for her forgiveness."
"Truly touching father-daughter affection. I knew I didn’t misjudge you. I’ll give it a try." With that, Jason gripped the Soul Stone and entered its internal space. Since Thanos thought he wasn’t dead enough, Jason was naturally willing to help him die thoroughly.
"Found it!" Not long after, Jason suddenly spoke. "After becoming a sacrifice for the Soul Stone, your souls will be forever bound in a special space. It’s a place where you can only enter and never leave—even if you gather all six Infinity Stones, you won’t be able to escape."
Recollecting the place he had just seen, Jason felt a lingering fear: "Have you really made up your mind?"
Thanos sat on a rock, using his one hand to take off his helmet and set it aside. "After leaving the dream of correcting the universe to you, I have no more attachments to this world. Stop wasting words. Do it!"
"Then... farewell, Thanos!"
Jason gripped the Soul Stone, and orange light shot out from the gaps in his fingers. The light concentrated on Thanos, forming a protective film-like layer over his body. A moment later, the light gradually faded, and Thanos had already closed his eyes. He had become a sacrifice for the Soul Stone, going to another world, leaving behind only a breathless, soon-to-decay body.
"Whew... it’s over!" Jason let out a long sigh, turned, and slowly walked away.
After a period of time, he ran back from a distance at high speed. After confirming that Thanos hadn’t come back as a zombie, Jason shot a beam of purple light from his eyes. Thanos’s remains were instantly annihilated into ash, disappearing completely. Having done all this, Jason smiled with relief, then turned into a streak of light and flew toward outer space.
