Marvel: The Villain Chapter 344 Smoke
Previously on Marvel: The Villain...
The Joker Organization's African base was situated approximately one thousand meters underground. While called a "base," it was more accurately a subterranean city. This sprawling complex covered a hundred thousand square kilometers and housed eighty to ninety thousand people, divided into a core district, administrative district, industrial district, residential district, and entertainment district. It was a masterpiece Harley Quinn had spent years crafting.
At high noon, the scorching sun baked the rainforest above.
Deep within the core district of the underground city, the senior members of the organization sat around a long rectangular dining table, enjoying a lavish and delicious lunch.
"Did you see the news this morning?"
"Of course! It's been days since the UN building incident, and the world leaders finally dare to step out and speak."
"Haha, you can't blame them. The organization's comeback caught them completely off guard. Those elite think tanks are probably working overtime."
"The mainstream media is boring."
"Agreed. It's just the same old canned statements. The comments on the internet are far more entertaining."
"I'll give you that. Social media has completely exploded; topics related to the organization have been trending at the top."
"Those bastards who act tough online are probably pissing themselves right now."
The atmosphere at the table was lively as the members laughed and chatted. The organization's operation in Vienna had achieved excellent results, thoroughly deflating the arrogance of world governments and venting the frustration they had pent up for three years. With everyone in high spirits, the food tasted better and the conversation flowed freely. The men drank and joked, their faces beaming.
Had they not been mindful of the two ladies and the two minors present, these rough men might have taken their jokes into the gutter.
Brian Walter sat next to Harley, his round cheeks stuffed with pasta, chewing vigorously like a squirrel storing nuts. In contrast, Angelina, dressed in a black dress, was much more refined; her elegant dining etiquette was impeccable.
Unlike Brian's thick-headedness, she had put down her cutlery early, ears pricked to listen to the adults. She sensed the atmosphere at the table was significantly different from the past. Previously, these uncles always had bitter expressions and spoke with a pessimistic tone; not even a table full of delicacies could cheer them up.
What has happened over the last few days?
Curious, Angelina waited for a lull in the conversation before looking at Christine. "Mommy, you and the uncles seem different today. Did something happy happen?"
Christine and Harley exchanged a glance. Christine squinted and smiled. "Yes, something very happy happened."
"What is it? Can you tell me?" Angelina asked.
Christine thought for a moment; the details of the bombing weren't suitable for children. She smiled and said, "Mommy received a gift from Daddy, so she's very happy."
"A gift!" Hearing the keyword, Brian immediately looked up from his food. He held out a clean little hand. "Let me see!"
Harley frowned and pulled his hand back. "This is a gift only Mommy and the uncles can see."
That's an excuse, Brian thought, pouting with dissatisfaction.
"Daddy sent you gifts? Does that mean Daddy is coming back soon?" Angelina's expression became excited. The little girl hadn't seen her father in over three years. Whenever she missed him, she could only look at old videos and photos. Over time, her image of him had begun to blur.
Her question brought a sudden silence to the table. Based on current intelligence, they could only infer that Jason was doing well in space. But as for when he would return, no one knew.
Christine, however, nodded firmly and comforted her. "Yes! Daddy will be back very soon."
Hearing the answer she wanted, Angelina cheered up instantly. She gently extended her arm and opened her palm.
Whoosh! A fireball instantly ignited in her hand. "Then I have to train hard so I can give Daddy a surprise when he returns."
The members looked at Angelina, proud smiles on their faces. Jason truly had a wonderful daughter.
Seeing this, Harley felt a bit competitive. She turned to prompt her son. "Brian, what surprise are you going to give Daddy when he gets back?"
Brian, still feeling grumpy, stabbed a piece of steak and chewed aggressively. He thought for a moment, a trace of resentment on his face. He squeezed his hand slightly, and the fork was instantly crushed into a ball.
"I'm going to punch him as hard as I can! Then I'll ask him where he's been messing around all these years."
"Hahaha!"
The table erupted in laughter. Compared to Angelina's textbook answer, this kid's response was much more entertaining. Some members who had joined early took the chance to whisper to the newcomers about the relationship between Chloe and Brian. Upon hearing the scandalous news, the others were stunned.
Good lord, offering a woman to his own father... This kid is going to be a real terror when he grows up.
The laughter made Harley's face turn red with embarrassment.
Frustrated, she gave Brian a sharp flick to the forehead. "Where did you learn such words? Your father is away for work, not 'messing around'!"
Brian rubbed his head, looking unimpressed. "Heh, work is just a lie. Don't look at me like I'm a kid; I understand everything. I've heard people say that when a man uses work to hide his tracks, it means he has a guilty conscience. Nine times out of ten, he's off with other women."
The room went dead silent. The members lowered their heads to their plates, not daring to touch that topic. The kid was sharp-tongued, but he had a point. If Jason was having too much fun in space, there was no guarantee he hadn't forgotten his wives and children on Earth.
Thinking of it that way, the women were actually quite pitiful. Out of respect for their feelings, everyone remained silent.
Christine laughed it off as a child's rambling, but Harley was nearly fuming. This little brat hadn't given her a moment of pride since the day he was born. Look at Angelina—cute, considerate. How did I end up with this thing?
Harley's anger burned; she really wanted to shred whoever had been feeding Brian these ideas. She hissed, "Brian! I think your training has been too easy lately. Starting tomorrow, your workload doubles."
"What!" Brian looked miserable. Last month, his bench press had just hit one ton. If it doubled, did that mean two tons? No way, my body will be exhausted! And my reasoning was perfectly sound, why am I being punished?
Brian raised his head defiantly, his young face full of questions.
As they were enjoying their lunch, David suddenly snapped his head up, his expression becoming serious and cold. His abnormal behavior was noticed immediately, and the laughter at the table died down.
Harley stopped her scolding and asked urgently, "David, is something happening outside?"
David's ultrasonic senses could detect things within a radius of dozens of kilometers, making him a human radar. If he reacted like this, something was definitely happening outside the base.
David nodded firmly, closing his eyes to push his ability. Shuri was indeed clever, knowing to use ultrasound to probe the ground. But she forgot one thing: while ultrasound probes the terrain, it also sends a blaring warning to David.
A moment later, David opened his eyes and sighed helplessly. "Well, we hid for three years, but we've finally been found."
The members were slightly surprised. When SHIELD confirmed they were hiding in Africa, they knew this day would eventually come. But no one expected it so soon—it had only been three days since the Vienna bombing. Which country's intelligence agency was this terrifyingly efficient?
Christine asked, "How many are coming?"
David shook his head. "Currently, I can only sense one giant fighter jet; its ultrasonic emissions woke me up. I'm not sure if there are enemies elsewhere yet."
A giant fighter jet!
Christine pondered for a second and said, "They didn't come to talk. The enemy must be fully prepared. Sound the alert immediately. Prepare for battle!"
The members nodded seriously and quickly left the dining room to gear up. Hearing that a fight was coming, Brian's eyes lit up with anticipation. Mommy, please, let me go out and have some fun.
Christine sighed, turning to take Angelina's hand. "Sweetie, it might get dangerous here in a bit. You and your brother go hide in the safe room."
"Okay!" Angelina nodded obediently.
Harley glanced at Brian and huffed, "Did you hear that?"
Brian pressed his hands together in a plea. "Mommy, let me fight with you guys. I can protect myself."
Harley shook her head firmly. "I told you, unless you can break out of my Space Stasis, don't even think about fighting."
God, what kind of demonic requirement is that? Forget Brian; not a single person at that table could escape Harley's Space Stasis.
"You say that every time... I got it!" Brian looked crushed. He reached out and grabbed two plates of food, intending to turn his grief into an appetite.
Harley placed her hands on their shoulders and teleported them into the safe room. Before leaving, she warned them again, "Stay hidden and be good!"
The children nodded. This safe room was forged from Vibranium; even if the world outside was blown to bits, the interior would remain secure. It was designed specifically as a refuge for the members and their children.
Once Harley teleported back, a piercing alarm rang out. The eighty-thousand-plus members living in the underground city immediately dropped what they were doing and retreated into reinforced bunkers. The coming battle was not something ordinary people could even get near. Even if all eighty thousand charged out, they would just be cannon fodder.
To handle a high-level war, the organization's elite forces were deployed. Following the alarm, the Hulk Legion and the Armor Legion mobilized rapidly. Five minutes later, 117 members of the Hulk Legion and 1,293 members of the Armor Legion were fully assembled.
The senior members arrived at the assembly point in their gear. Harley used her powers to teleport them from the base to the surface.
*
Outside the base, over a hundred Wakandan ships had assembled. Laser cannons were aimed at the ground, and Vibranium missiles were locked and loaded. They were only waiting for King T'Challa's command to turn the lush rainforest into a crater.
Harley's forces teleported into a forest over ten kilometers away. Upon landing, everyone looked up at the sky. The sun was high, and there wasn't a cloud in sight. Where was this giant fighter jet?
David didn't explain. He used his powers to pinpoint the ships' locations.
"Oh! My! God!" His expression turned into one of pure shock.
"What is it?" Christine's heart skipped a beat.
David pointed randomly at the sky. "Here... here... here... there are giant fighter jets everywhere. About a hundred and thirty of them!"
Hearing this, the members looked closer and noticed a slight distortion in the air.
"This... it looks like SHIELD's optical cloaking technology."
"Is the enemy SHIELD?"
"Looking at the situation, it seems likely."
"Who else but SHIELD could deploy so many ships at once?"
"Producing over a hundred giant ships in just three years... SHIELD is pumping these out like sausages."
"Thanks to the Battle of New York! SHIELD's funding and authority have expanded several times over since then."
After the initial surprise, the members quickly calmed down. It's just SHIELD. They were old rivals; there was no reason to be nervous.
Christine looked at the ships in the sky and ordered, "It's been three years. Let's go say hello."
As soon as she spoke, thousands from the Armor Legion took flight simultaneously, and the Hulk Legion transformed, sprinting toward the ships' positions.
*
In the Wakandan lab, the fleet was in position. T'Challa's eyes were grave as he prepared to give the order to fire.
Suddenly, Shuri gasped, "Brother! We have a situation!"
T'Challa was forced to swallow his words, looking annoyed. "What now?"
Shuri pointed to red dots on the screen. "Look! Massive thermal signatures appearing ahead! On the ground too!"
T'Challa stared at the screen, noting the shapes of the thermal signatures. Those massive physiques... they didn't look human. As the red dots leaped forward with incredible speed, T'Challa immediately thought of one person.
The Hulk!
T'Challa had a sudden realization and immediately notified Okoye: "The thermal signatures on the ground are the Joker Organization's Hulk Legion. As for the ones in the sky, those must be their Armor Legion."
Shuri looked dejected. "The surprise attack failed."
Okoye also noticed the anomalies in the distance. She sneered, "Your Majesty, it seems the Joker Organization has no intention of negotiating."
T'Challa gave a cold laugh. "How coincidental. Neither do we!"
The Wakandan ships detected their targets and immediately abandoned the original plan to bomb the ground. Instead, they hovered at an altitude of three thousand meters, spreading out to lock onto targets, intending to wipe out the organization's active forces.
Pew! Pew! Pew!
Suddenly, beams of purple laser fire shot out from the clear blue sky. The thick lasers blotted out the sun, seemingly weaving a web across the heavens.
"Enemy attack!"
Although it was difficult to see the ships with the naked eye, the specialized sensors on the Armor Legion suits could track their locations. Seeing the lasers incoming, the Armor Legion scattered instantly.
However, the lasers were too fast. Several suits were unfortunately struck.
BOOM!
The moment the lasers connected, the hardened alloy armor exploded into a cloud of black smoke.
