A small-scale earthquake occurred somewhere in the Aegean Sea.

It caused no significant damage, merely giving the earthquake-monitoring agencies of the surrounding countries a little work to do. Those geological experts who had gone years without anyone caring about them were invited onto television programs to discuss the Eurasian seismic belt and other such topics.

Another organization that sprang into action was the U.S. Air Force Technical Applications Center.

At first glance, the two had nothing to do with each other. Whatever happened in the Aegean Sea surely had nothing to do with the U.S. Air Force, right?

But the center possessed a special system established in 1947: the U.S. Atomic Energy Detection System. This system was used to monitor the atmosphere and underground activity and served as America’s primary means of detecting nuclear explosions in the atmosphere.

Naturally, this wasn’t intended for offensive or defensive purposes. Whenever a country attempted to develop nuclear weapons, its test explosions could be detected by the American monitoring system. This gave the United States an opportunity to resolve that country’s nuclear ambitions through political means.

The abnormal seismic activity in the Aegean Sea triggered an alert from the system.

Satellites and aircraft equipped for atmospheric sampling were immediately dispatched for further investigation. Before long, they reported that the earthquake had nothing to do with a nuclear crisis and was purely a natural phenomenon...

As for the people who had created this "natural phenomenon," they were sitting on a plane returning home.

The island resort had suffered no damage, despite being closest to the "epicenter." It had merely given everyone on the island quite a scare.

Still, their fright was nowhere near as great as that of those who had personally witnessed Henry fighting Gilgamesh.

Perhaps the spectacle had simply been too shocking. Or perhaps when the gap between two sides was too vast, any attempt at resistance seemed meaningless.

Skye seemed to have given up on competing with Henry through physical strength. She stopped mentioning things like wanting to train herself so she could beat someone into a bloody pulp.

However, the girl still made an agreement with Tina to learn combat and training techniques from her.

Tina naturally had no objection. In fact, she was quite happy to have a child come to her for instruction.

Aside from that, Skye spent most of her time shut in her room, studying diligently and researching electronics and information technology.

At least in those fields, she could still see a chance of catching up.

After returning to New York, Henry continued staying at 49th Street East, in Katharine Hepburn’s home, content to play the role of a little assistant.

The old lady seemed positively radiant after returning from vacation. Even her usual walks with the tiger had become noticeably lighter and more energetic.

At night, Henry’s research focus shifted from upgrading the armor to studying Isu technology.

Once he discovered a few clues, he plunged headfirst into the study of Isu technology.

If the technology of the Kree Empire and Skrull Empire could be regarded as the future direction of mechanical technology, then Isu technology represented the future of energy technology.

The reason for this distinction was easy to understand once the backgrounds of the two technological civilizations were considered.

Both the Kree Empire and the Skrull Empire had developed along the path of interstellar empires. This meant they could obtain resources from other planets, whether through cunning or outright conquest.

When you have deep pockets, you naturally have the luxury of spending lavishly.

But the civilization that developed Isu technology was confined to Earth.

For whatever reason, they never developed space colonization. Their sphere of activity was restricted to Earth itself, so they naturally couldn’t afford to waste its limited resources without restraint.

To compensate for this limitation, Isu technology had developed an unparalleled approach to energy utilization, minimizing resource consumption as much as possible.

In terms of modern technology, the closest equivalent to the way Isu technology functioned would be printed circuit boards (PCBs), or even integrated circuits (ICs).

But unlike modern technology, where these things were merely components that had to be combined with numerous other components to create a functioning device, the "printed circuit boards" and "integrated circuits" of Isu technology could function as complete devices on their own.

Moreover, because they lacked the gears, pumps, and other mechanisms found in mechanical technology, the transfer of energy during operation and output wasn’t obvious or intuitive.

Instead, it manifested in a rather unconventional way.

Put in terms that modern people could understand, it was almost like magic.

For example, after putting on these pieces of equipment, Cassandra could cause arrows to deflect, resist extreme heat and freezing temperatures, enhance her physical abilities, or strengthen certain special powers.

To modern people, these effects would look just like those of magical equipment.

But within the Isu technological system, these were repeatable, mass-produced "technological products."

They weren’t ethereal forms of magic that required talent to learn or use.

Of course, in this era, using Isu technology still required Isu genes.

An ordinary person who obtained one of these treasures would merely have a relatively sturdy piece of protective equipment or an unusually sharp sword. They wouldn’t be able to unleash the advantages of Isu technology at all.

Strictly speaking, that could still be considered something that required talent to use.

As for why the Eternals could use Isu technology, the reason was simple.

The Eternals had been created by the Celestials. They were themselves the ultimate products of energy and biological technology!

Would such creations have any difficulty using products based on energy technology?

If there were even the slightest incompatibility during the process, the Celestial responsible for creating that Eternal should probably examine themselves and ask whether they had failed to make their creation perfect enough.

In other words, in Henry’s eyes, Isu technology could be regarded as a low-end version of the technology the Celestials had used to create the Eternals.

And even then, it represented only one portion of that technology, not the whole thing.

Why had Henry never studied the three tubes of Eternal blood samples?

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to.

It was because even if he did, he wouldn’t understand them...

Unless he treated the blood samples like ginseng supplements, mixed them with some bizarre substances, and injected the resulting concoction into someone else as a super serum.

As long as the recipient didn’t die, they would certainly become stronger.

Could there possibly be a more wasteful approach?

Even with a Kryptonian super-brain enhanced by exposure to a yellow sun, the mysteries contained within the Eternals were like a natural chasm—a threshold of Celestial technology that barred Henry from entering.

Then Isu technology had been delivered right to his doorstep.

It was like someone had provided him with the first brick needed to cross the threshold of Celestial technology!

How could he not study it seriously?

Moreover, unlike when he had been studying Kree and Skrull technology on his own, he had Cassandra, an actual user of Isu technology, to guide him. He didn’t have to grope around blindly.

The raw materials also came from Earth, so he didn’t have to worry about encountering some obscure technical term in an alien database and wondering what the hell it meant.

Thus, in just a few days, Henry restored the Isu technological equipment recovered from the bottom of the Aegean Sea to its peak condition.

According to Cassandra, some of it was even more powerful than it had been when she originally used it.

In reality, the reason the equipment’s functions had weakened was very simple.

It had run out of power.

After being stored for such a long time, regardless of whether they were being used or not, the energy contained within the Isu equipment would slowly dissipate.

Once all the energy had been depleted, the equipment would naturally become useless.

As for why the artifacts known as Pieces of Eden still possessed such powerful functions even today, Henry couldn’t draw any conclusions because he had never been able to study one directly.

Cassandra had no intention of handing over the Staff of Hermes for research. That was one of her bottom lines.

Henry naturally had no intention of crossing it.

However, the weakness of this set of Isu equipment was exactly what Cassandra had been worried about.

It wasn’t suited to modern warfare.

In an age of cold weapons, wearing a set of equipment like this would allow someone to dominate the battlefield and carve their way through armies with ease.

But in the age of firearms, you could simply use enough firepower to deal with such a target.

So designing a new set of Isu technology equipment for Cassandra became Henry’s most difficult task.

It needed not only to maximize her own strengths, but also to be capable of adapting to modern warfare.
