Marvel: A Lazy-Ass Superman Chapter 743: A Yacht Trip
Previously on Marvel: A Lazy-Ass Superman...
The remaining four men—Henry, Gilgamesh, Kingo, and his Indian butler, Karan Patel—were dressed in much the same way.
They were all wearing floral shirts and knee-length shorts, sunglasses on their faces and beach sandals on their feet. Their outfits were casual to the point of being carefree. The only differences were the colors and patterns.
As for Kitty, Gilgamesh had an arm around her neck and was forcing beer down her throat!
Basically, every time Gilgamesh finished a bottle, Kitty got a bottle poured down her as well. By now, the tiger was so drunk that even its roars and meows were indistinguishable. Even when she tried to block the beer with her paws, Gilgamesh would simply slap them away.
As her owner, Henry merely watched the sea split apart behind the yacht. His vision couldn't see what was lurking beneath the churning waves, so he could only imagine it as he asked, "I wonder what we'd catch if we threw Kitty overboard as bait."
Hearing that, Kingo also looked out over the water and muttered, "I wonder if we'd catch a marlin. I've really missed the taste."
The similarly casually dressed Indian butler awkwardly said, "I'm very sorry, Mr. Brown. There is fishing equipment on board, but we really don't have a fishing rod and line strong enough to tie up a tiger."
"Tsk. What a shame. Do we have a chain?"
Henry's desire to go tiger fishing remained undiminished.
Completely unaware that her life was hanging by a thread, Kitty tried to slip away from Gilgamesh. Unfortunately, just as she raised her backside and stretched her head forward, the Hero King dragged her back. Another can of beer was immediately served.
The old lady was immersed in the sea breeze and scenery she hadn't experienced for so long, her eyes captivated by the beautiful expanse where sea and sky merged into one. How could she possibly remember that adorable tabby cat?
As for Skye, she was dressed like a tomboy. Apart from her long hair, which had been messily tied into a ponytail, everything else about her looked like a little boy.
She sat beside Thena with an envious expression, lightly tracing the contours of her muscles with her finger.
She looked like a dog staring at a chicken leg, carefully considering where to take the first bite.
"Thena, can I train until I'm as strong as you?"
"As long as you keep at it and work hard, nothing is impossible."
The Eternal powerhouse didn't give her a definitive answer. It was the sort of wisdom that came from the experience of an immortal.
In any case, whether she told the truth or lied, humans would eventually lose to their limited lifespans. So she might as well say something pleasant and save herself the trouble of arguing or explaining later.
"Then can you teach me how to train? I want to get strong enough to knock that guy flying with one punch."
Although Skye had her back turned to everyone, her finger still accurately pointed at Henry.
"Knock him flying with one punch? Then you'll have to work very, very hard."
Thena smiled mischievously. Rather than making the girl face reality, she was secretly encouraging her.
The reason she was so kind toward Skye was because she'd heard the girl's story from Henry. It was difficult not to feel sympathy for what she'd been through.
If the child's worldview had become warped, if she were constantly unpleasant and picked fights with everyone, someone like Thena probably wouldn't have the patience to pull her back onto the right path, let alone take the time to nurture her properly.
But Skye was different. The only person she targeted was the Kryptonian. Toward everyone else, she was all sweetness and coquettishness. Thena found it immensely amusing, and consequently became a little more indulgent toward her requests.
The Eternals were remarkably indifferent toward desire, to the point of being almost entirely free of worldly wants. Sersi was practically the sole exception.
If their desires weren't so faint, then over their long lives, they would have accumulated countless descendants. Yet the reality was that they had no blood descendants living outside their ranks.
That didn't mean they disliked children. On the contrary, feeling affection toward the young of any living species was an instinct shared by all living things.
Although fourteen wasn't particularly young by the standards of ancient people—in some places, it was even considered adulthood—Thena still felt considerable affection and tolerance toward this flower that had yet to fully bloom.
One could only say that Skye's experiences in the sewers and various foster homes had taught her how to leverage others, unite secondary allies, and focus her attacks on the primary target. Compared with other girls her age, her thinking was already remarkably mature.
Of course, she thought she was merely putting on an act. But at her age and with her limited experience, even she couldn't completely distinguish which of her actions were acting and which were genuine. Those displays of affection and dislike contained at least some real emotion; otherwise, how could she have fooled all these seasoned people?
In short, although nobody around her was playing the role of a proper father or mother, everyone gave Skye as much affection and care as they could.
As for the only Kryptonian getting hurt in the process—well, everyone could just ignore him.
It wasn't as though Henry ever tried to win the girl's favor. He was constantly teasing her instead. Being targeted by her at every turn could simply be regarded as karma.
Just as Henry was about to find an anchor and tie Kitty to it, Cassandra, who was piloting the yacht, shouted loudly, "Hey, everyone! Look ahead. That's the island where we're going to spend our vacation. We're almost there!"
Naturally, an island resort had its own staff. They were already lined up along the pier to welcome their guests for the week.
Under Cassandra's control, the rented yacht glided neatly alongside the pier. Henry tossed down the mooring line, and someone immediately secured it to a bollard on the dock.
Once they indicated where the luggage was, the staff naturally came aboard to carry it down. There was no need for them to lift anything themselves.
The old lady had originally wanted to lead Kitty off the yacht herself. But the tabby was already drunk from all the beer Gilgamesh had forced down her throat, and Henry certainly didn't dare let the old lady hold onto a drunken tiger.
Fortunately, she hadn't.
As Kitty crossed the gangplank, she actually missed her footing, lurched sideways, and fell straight into the sea!
If the old lady had been holding her, there wouldn't just be a drunken tiger splashing around in the water now. There would also be an elderly woman in there.
"Good thing there aren't any sharks around here."
Cassandra spoke as though she had just remembered something.
Normally, if someone fell overboard, the resort staff should rush forward to help, or at least pull them back onto shore.
But the thing that had fallen into the water was a tiger...
The staff had already shown admirable professionalism by not panicking when they saw a tiger preparing to disembark. Expecting them to rush forward and help now was asking too much.
Henry certainly didn't blame them for being afraid to approach. Their meager wages weren't enough to cover the medical bills if Kitty took a bite out of them.
So he stepped forward himself, grabbed Kitty by the scruff of her neck with lightning speed, and hauled her back onto the dock.
The tiger let out a strange, aggrieved sound as everyone else laughed without the slightest sympathy.
This little mishap, of course, did nothing to spoil their mood for the day.
They planned to stay on the island for a week. There was no fixed itinerary. They would simply do whatever felt relaxing.
All sorts of massages, stress-relief treatments, and wellness classes were available for anyone who wanted to participate.
