Henry could understand Cassandra's thinking. Her abilities were inherently compatible with Isu technology and equipment. If he really gave her a suit of armor, it would only become another limiter that prevented her from bringing out her true strength.

Still, this rather sudden request made Henry ask, "You really intend to let me study Isu technology? What about that staff of Hermes you carry?"

"The staff is off-limits. It has a different purpose. What I can give you to study are ordinary pieces of Isu technology. As for artifacts of that level, I would rather destroy them."

"Is there really a difference between the two?"

Although Henry asked the question, he knew how important the Staff of Hermes was to Cassandra. Assuming the Cassandra in the real world matched the game setting he remembered from before his transmigration, that staff was the very reason this Spartan woman had survived from 2,400 years ago into the modern era.

Once she was separated from the artifact, her life would immediately come to an end. So there was no way she would take something like that out for him to study.

Cassandra said seriously, "When I learned what my true mission was, I swore to destroy every Piece of Eden. You can't imagine how these technologies left behind from the First Civilization can twist the human mind.

"They can drive good people insane and give bad people free rein to act without restraint. Ordinary Isu technology and equipment fall into this category as well, although their influence on the human mind is limited compared with the Pieces of Eden.

"So for the first thousand years or so, that's almost all I did. I searched for these things and destroyed them. That's also why the people in the Assassin Brotherhood aren't particularly fond of me.

"Compared with destroying the Pieces of Eden, they would much rather use that power to accomplish something. But honestly, I've seen them screw things up more than once, even causing horrifying casualties.

"Still, I personally kept several sets of ordinary Isu equipment and weapons, hidden somewhere no one could reach, just in case they were ever needed. I think perhaps the time has come."

Henry said, "In that case, why not just retrieve the equipment? At most, I can help you figure out how to recharge it, assuming the reason it's inactive is a lack of energy."

Cassandra gave a wry smile. "That was what I thought back then. After all, for most of my life, Isu technology was superior to anything the craftsmen and masters of various countries could produce.

"But with the development of modern firearms, and especially modern nuclear weapons, I can't guarantee how much of an advantage Isu technology still has. I've used armor to evade arrows, but I don't have the same confidence that I could evade a large-caliber sniper rifle.

"So my old way of thinking was that I shouldn't use it recklessly. But now, I actually feel that there isn't much point in keeping it hidden. Seeing the destructive power of the armor you're building has only made that sense of helplessness stronger.

"If you're building these things because you're preparing for something, then I don't think I'll be able to stay out of it either. In that case, the best card I have left is that set of Isu equipment that might not even be useful anymore.

"That is why I asked whether you were interested in studying Isu technology, and perhaps strengthening this equipment for me while you're at it. At the very least, bring it up to a level where you think it can handle whatever crisis comes next. This was actually Tina's suggestion."

Henry looked toward the Eternal who had just taken off the Bonnie armor beside them. Tina nodded, acknowledging that she had indeed made the suggestion.

Was she bringing him business, or finding him more work? Henry couldn't quite tell.

After carefully weighing the pros and cons, Henry thought that although he still hadn't fully digested the technologies of the two great cosmic empires, Isu technology had originated and developed on Earth. The materials it used shouldn't contain too many substances unavailable on Earth.

Besides, claiming he wasn't curious about Isu technology would obviously be a lie.

Still, Henry cautiously said, "I haven't seen the actual equipment, so I can't say how much help I can provide. Is that acceptable?"

"Of course."

"Then where is this place that supposedly no one but you can reach? Can I actually help? Or do I just wait for you to bring everything back?"

"Give me a hand. We'll have to retrieve it."

"Retrieve it? From where?"

"The Aegean Sea."

Henry paused before asking, "Uh, is it in some island labyrinth, or underwater?"

Cassandra said, "You guessed it. Underwater. With modern technology, legendary islands and hidden treasure islands are all impossible to conceal. Even if something really had been hidden there, it would've been excavated long ago.

"But the place where I threw the equipment can be explored with a deep-sea submarine, yet ordinary people wouldn't bother doing so. It isn't a shipwreck site. It's just a box of equipment.

"When the potential reward isn't necessarily enough to offset the cost of deep-sea submarine operations, no normal person would pay attention to a box sitting on the ocean floor. So I'm confident the things should still be where I left them."

Henry asked again, "If the equipment really is on the seabed, how were you planning to retrieve it?"

"Just dive down. Depths that ordinary people can't reach aren't much of a problem for me. The troublesome part now is figuring out how to retrieve everything and then transport it to America."

Right. Apparently, this Spartan woman planned to use her handy artifact to brute-force her way through the water pressure.

Henry gave up on making fun of the woman and said, "Okay, I understand. As for how we're going to do it, give me some time to think it through."

"Sure." Cassandra wasn't in the slightest bit impatient.

However, when Henry returned to East Forty-Ninth Street, he saw Katherine Hepburn sitting in a rocking chair, gently stroking Kitty at her feet.

Henry blurted out, "Want to take a vacation in the Aegean Sea?"

The moment he saw the old woman's bright, piercing gaze, Henry knew things weren't going to end well.

If he said he was joking now, he'd probably be beaten to death...

Then he noticed two little heads poking out from Sky's bedroom door, accompanied by four resentful eyes. Henry suddenly felt as though he had backed himself into a corner.

...Wait, no. Why did this Kryptonian feel like he was riding Kitty and couldn't get off?

The thick-headed tabby cat merely opened its enormous mouth and let out a huge yawn after the Kryptonian biped looked at it.

"Um, Sky, you still have school, you know. Education is a very important right for you. No one can deprive you of it. So be good and stay home. Gwen, would you be interested in taking another job and becoming Sky's temporary babysitter?"

The moment he finished speaking, the little girl immediately staged a rebellion!

"Ah! I'm running away from home! I'm going to become a delinquent! I'm going to bring a whole bunch of people home for a party and make an absolute mess of the place! I'm even going to get high at the party, and I don't care if I get laid afterward! I... I'm going to cry!"

Without even bothering to squeeze out any tears, Sky threw herself into Katherine Hepburn's arms and began wailing dramatically.

Acting at this level could never fool a four-time Best Actress Oscar winner. Yet the old woman completely fell for the girl's act, and she really did come up with a good solution.

"Henry, isn't spring break coming up soon? Wouldn't that be a good time to go? Or would making arrangements now be too rushed?"

She hadn't even agreed yet, but Sky was already sweet-talking her.

"Kate is the best! Unlike certain someone. Hmph!"

Maybe he should just leave this little brat in New York.

After all, she'd managed to survive in a place like the sewers. Surely she wouldn't starve to death at home just because he went on vacation for a while.

Just as the little girl was about to get her way, there was another person feeling resentful.

Gwen said gloomily, "Must be nice~."
