Love You Till the End Chapter 1204 - 1202: Shi Mei vs. Shi Keke (49)
Previously on Love You Till the End...
"Why..."
A violent tremor ran through Qian Hao’s voice, a mix of fear and utter terror. Having navigated the cutthroat business world for so many years, he’d faced numerous threats, yet none had ever truly gotten this close. He never fathomed he’d fall victim to someone with whom he had no prior dealings, no entanglements whatsoever.
The individuals he’d hired to cause harm had met unfortunate ends, and now he found himself in mortal danger. His survival was no longer a matter within his own control.
Shi Mei finally withdrew his intense gaze, casting a casual glance at Qian Hao.
"Because you offended my woman."
His thin lips curved into a mocking smile, each word he uttered laced with a bloodthirsty, cruel intent.
"Who is your woman? When did I ever offend your woman..."
Qian Hao couldn't fathom that the woman he had publicly humiliated outside the courthouse was the very reason for his current predicament.
If he hadn't made those offensive remarks to Shi Keke – "You still look a little pretty. If you went out to sell, you’d definitely make a fortune. How about this, don’t bother being a lawyer. I’ll introduce you to a job on the platform. Earning three or five thousand a night shouldn’t be a problem," – he might not be in such a dire situation.
"Who my woman is, is none of your concern, and you have no right to know." Shi Mei’s gaze suddenly turned icy, radiating a chilling glare. "Just remember one thing: anyone with the surname Shi, whether male or female, young or old, is not someone you can afford to offend."
"The Shi surname..." A dawning realization struck Qian Hao. He raised a trembling hand, pointing towards a specific spot outside the courthouse, his voice laced with panic: "She... that lawyer, is she your woman?"
He might not know much else, but he distinctly recalled her surname. She... was a Shi!
"What, do you have a problem with that?" Shi Mei lazily toyed with the ring on his finger. His movements, seemingly nonchalant, possessed an elegant grace, reminiscent of a noble prince, exuding an almost regal aura, as if bathed in a soft, luminous glow.
"No, no..." Even if he harbored any objections, Qian Hao wouldn't dare voice them. Nothing was more crucial than preserving his own life.
"Were you the one who said my woman doesn’t look like a wealthy person?" Shi Mei narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone devoid of warmth, chillingly neutral.
"I... actually, that’s not what I meant, I just..." Qian Hao stammered, struggling to find words, finding himself utterly unable to explain, as he had indeed uttered those exact words earlier.
It was only now that he understood the reason behind her calm response when he questioned her about possessing millions. She had precisely stated that while she didn’t have millions, she had billions.
At the time, he’d dismissed it as mere bluster. Who could have foreseen she was speaking the absolute truth?
"Were you the one who suggested my woman work on the platform?" Shi Mei’s eyes narrowed further, a smile gracing his lips, yet failing to reach his eyes. Compared to the earlier act of firing the gun, he now appeared even more bloodthirsty and ruthless.
Qian Hao vigorously shook his head, desperately trying to convey his innocence, neither daring to admit nor deny his words, keenly aware of the futility of either action.
Shi Mei regarded him with utter indifference, his smile vanishing, replaced by a cold, cruel expression: "You have a choice: a ruined family or lost fortune. The decision is yours. Whether your wife or daughter is more suited to work on the platform is also your call. A word of advice: if you can’t make a choice, you’ll lose them both."
