Shi Keke reflects on Shi Mei's considerate actions, remembering how he once helped her through her first period. She realizes his past care was a nascent form of love, noticing his continued thoughtfulness as he buys sanitary napkins for her.

"Sir, that appears to be a sanitary pad."

After observing Shi Mei select no less than ten bags of sanitary napkins, the clerk, assuming his primary intention was to purchase them, offered a gentle correction upon seeing him pick up a pack of sanitary pads.

Shi Mei offered a curt reply, his indifferent demeanor clearly communicating that he was aware.

As it happened, the clerk was an attractive woman, though her figure was largely obscured by the loose-fitting uniform mandated by the supermarket.

Furthermore, her hair, pulled back with a simple band, somewhat diminished her natural beauty. However, focusing solely on her face, she was undeniably pretty.

Normally, male shoppers would frequently attempt to engage her in conversation, and occasionally, they would inquire about her contact information.

Shi Mei, who had not once looked her way in the ten minutes since his arrival, presented a stark contrast to the usual clientele.

Feeling a mix of awkwardness and mild irritation, she let out a sigh and turned to reorganize the nearby shelves.

From a distance, Shi Keke stood, lost in thought. A soft "excuse me" from behind jolted her back to the present.

Spotting Shi Mei approaching, she swiftly moved aside. She then turned and exited the supermarket at a brisk pace, settling back into the car as if nothing had occurred before Shi Mei emerged.

In less than two minutes, Shi Mei reappeared, his hands tucked into the pockets of his dress pants, save for one hand at his side, holding a plastic bag.

The bag was filled with sanitary napkins in a variety of colorful packaging, both large and small – approximately a dozen packs in total.

Shi Keke, leaning against the fully opened car window, watched his approach from afar, a subtle smile playing on her lips.

Shi Mei reached the car, opened the door, and slid in. He handed the bag to Shi Keke, stating, "Here are the items you wanted."

"Oh," Shi Keke responded, taking the bag. She briefly reviewed its contents before turning to him. "Why did you buy so many sanitary napkins? I actually wanted something to eat."

"These are edible," Shi Mei replied, buckling his seatbelt. He then started the car and smoothly pulled away from the curb.

"I've read extensively; don't try to deceive me," Shi Keke countered, pulling a pack of sanitary napkins from the bag and holding it up. "Take a bite and show me."

Shi Mei turned his head slightly, averting his gaze from the item in question. He said calmly, "These are special 'breads' for women. Men are permitted only to look, not to desecrate."

"How dull," Shi Keke remarked, withdrawing her hand. It was only then she recognized the brand as her usual choice, though the packaging appeared to be new.

"Seriously, brother, what made you think of buying me sanitary napkins? I merely mentioned needing to purchase something, without specifying what. How did you know what I wanted?" she inquired.

"Because this morning, when I came to pick you up at your home, I noticed the few dates you had circled on your calendar." His voice, deep and resonant, seemed to etch each word onto her heart.

Shi Keke then recalled how he had stood by her desk that morning while she organized her materials, casting a glance at the desk calendar.

She had a habit of marking her menstrual cycle on the calendar each month, placing it in a highly visible spot.

Therefore, he wasn't merely brushing her off. He was genuinely acknowledging her needs, and though unspoken, he held onto many of her small details in his heart.
