As Shen Cheng personally retrieved the alcohol, she was absent from any video recordings. The footage captured only Shi Keke, who appeared genuinely inebriated as she lounged on the table, alternating between drinking and laughter.
Witnessing this scene brought Shi Mei back to the memory of the old man’s birthday banquet. On that occasion, she too had indulged too much and, upon departing the castle, had clung to him, refusing to let go. In front of him, for the very first time, she had wept like a child, her alcohol-induced state loosening the restraints on the secrets held deep within her heart.
She recounted, "When I was merely three, my scarf tumbled into the fountain. Despite the biting winter chill, you plunged into the water to retrieve it for me. I was so young then, my emotions purely happiness or unhappiness. Upon receiving the scarf, my face lit up, and I hugged you, repeatedly exclaiming, 'Brother is so good, brother is so good...'"
She continued, "At the age of five, when a group of children bullied me, you shielded me, declaring that any who dared lay a hand on your sister would face you. You even struck those children. Consequently, my uncle and aunt punished you by forcing you to kneel on broken tiles throughout the entire night..."
She further shared, "When I turned eight, the drawing board essential for my competition disappeared. You spent the whole night searching for it, ultimately locating it and enabling me to secure first prize at the art exhibition. Back then, I mused how wonderful it would be if you could dote on me like this for my entire life."
She recalled, "At thirteen, when I experienced my first period, my naive mind feared I was bleeding to death. It was you who explained the intricacies of female physiology, reassuring me that it was a natural process for all women. You even went out of your way to purchase sanitary pads for me – daily, nighttime, and extra-long, you bought them all..."
She then added, "When I was sixteen, a boy confessed his feelings for me. You seized him by the collar, threatening him with hell if he dared to bother me again. At the time, I perceived you as fiercely brutal. It wasn't until much later that I discovered his notorious reputation for manipulating women, and that he was subsequently convicted of sexual harassment."
She confessed, "Around that time, I likely began to harbor feelings for you. However, the constraints of being siblings meant we could not act against the natural order, so I buried these emotions deep within my heart."
She revealed, "It wasn't until the day I departed for overseas that I learned the truth of my background – that I was adopted. It seems fate indeed plays peculiar tricks."
Every word spoken, every single character, was etched deeply into his memory. He closed his eyes heavily, a subtle weariness and resignation clouding his brow. After an indeterminate period, he finally opened his eyes, rose, and exited the room with decisive strides. Pushing open the door to Shi Keke’s room, his gaze darkened. After a moment's hesitation, he ultimately stepped inside.
Coincidentally, as Shen Cheng returned with the alcohol, she observed Shi Mei entering, prompting her to quickly conceal herself in the shadows. After a brief assessment of her surroundings and confirming she was unobserved, she stealthily approached the booth, pressing her ear against the door to listen in.
"Mmm..."
To her surprise, a low moan reached her ears, unmistakably Shi Keke's voice. It was soft, gentle, and carried a provocative allure. Assuming the pair inside had already embarked on a "passionate interlude," Shen Cheng decided it was best not to intrude. She proceeded to the front desk to settle the bill, instructed the staff to keep the booth unoccupied for two hours, and then departed the restaurant, driving away in the Maserati.
