Bei Mo calls Qi Jingren and threatens to kill Qin Shaobai, revealing that his family is protected by Qi Jingren's father due to a life debt. Qin Shaobai overhears the threat and challenges Bei Mo to a fight at West City Pier.

At eight in the evening, Shi Aoju received a call from Qin Shaobai.

"Tonight I want to meet Bei Mo. Lend me ten assassins, have them lurk near Warehouse 17 at the West City Pier."

"What happened?" Shi Aoju inquired.

"Just a confrontation between one man and another, nothing major." Qin Shaobai laughed, his tone quite composed.

"Have you thought it through?" Shi Aoju likely already grasped the situation.

"What’s there to think about?" Qin Shaobai retorted. "If another man poses a threat to you and might harm Su Jiuyi at any moment, what would you do?"

"Kill." The word escaped Shi Aoju's lips, cementing his resolve. He could endure harm directed at himself, but he would never permit anyone to hurt his woman in the slightest.

If someone dared to touch his beloved, he would spare no effort to make the offender pay dearly.

Shi Aoju stood by the expansive floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze sweeping over the vibrant cityscape, moonlight casting a charming sheen upon him.

Su Jiuyi had been standing outside for some time, cradling a thermos filled with freshly prepared chicken soup.

Despite knowing that consuming greasy food late at night was not beneficial for health, upon hearing Shi Aoju express a desire for soup earlier that afternoon, she made up her mind to prepare it for him before he went to sleep.

Upon her arrival, she happened to overhear Shi Aoju speaking on the phone, prompting her to wait outside until he concluded the call. It was then that she raised her hand to knock.

"Come in," Shi Aoju commanded without turning around.

In reality, he had been aware of her presence outside long before the call with Qin Shaobai, though she remained oblivious.

Su Jiuyi pushed the door open, closing it softly behind her. She carried the thermos to the small dining table beside the bed, lifting the lid with the familiarity of a homemaker. "The chicken soup is ready, come and have some."

Shi Aoju acknowledged her with a hum, turning back to sit by the bedside. He observed Su Jiuyi with amusement, anticipating her serving the soup.

"Is there something on my face?" Su Jiuyi felt a slight unease under his scrutiny and lifted her head to inquire.

"Nothing on your face," he replied, "but there is something in your eyes."

"Really?" Su Jiuyi, taking him at his word, put down the thermos, intending to rub her eyes.

However, before her hand could reach her eyes, Shi Aoju swiftly grasped her, drawing her into his embrace and compelling her to sit on his lap.

Although they had shared embraces, kisses, and even slept together, this particular intimate gesture still caused Su Jiuyi to blush, her heart pounding as if struggling for breath.

Sensing her tension, Shi Aoju encircled her waist with his arm, pulling her nearer. A faint smile played on his lips as he gazed at her for a moment before leaning in to whisper in her ear, "I meant you have me in your eyes."

"You're fooling me again!" Su Jiuyi pouted, looking at his infuriatingly handsome face. "You seem to enjoy teasing me lately."

"I'm merely stating the truth; there truly was something in your eyes just now." Shi Aoju released one arm from her waist to gently play with her hair, his alluring smile unwavering, appearing to be in excellent spirits.

"Are you something?" Su Jiuyi questioned, her bright eyes fixed intently on him. She inwardly pondered: *let's see how you answer this one!*
