Longevity by Picking up Attributes in the Battlefield Chapter 1316 Chapter 572: Qin Tiandi Summons Qin Xuanzang! (Part 2)
These merits are worthy of the gratitude of every citizen upon the Divine Continent.
Although Xuanzang was entering the Daqin Heavenly Palace for the first time, it was as though there was some unseen guidance; he proceeded unhindered all the way to where the main hall of the Heavenly Palace stood.
Having reached this place.
There were even more Imperial Guard Army on duty, clad in Silver Armor, long spears in hand, awe‑inspiring in their bearing.
As for Xuanzang appearing before the Heavenly Palace, the Imperial Guard Army naturally did not obstruct him in the slightest, they did not even move; after all, to be able to enter the Heavenly Palace meant he had already been granted leave.
Soon.
Xuanzang arrived before the main hall of the Heavenly Palace.
"Qin Heavenly Emperor above."
Xuanzang stood outside the hall, his posture straight as a rod, and bowed respectfully; his clear voice carried into the great hall: "Disciple Xuanzang seeks audience."
The next instant.
A voice of majesty rang out from within the hall: "Enter the hall."
The voice was like a mighty bell, shaking the human heart.
Hearing this, Xuanzang.
Did not hesitate in the least; he slightly lowered his head, straightened his Monk Robe, his movements orderly and composed, then at once walked into the great hall.
After entering the hall.
At a glance he saw Ying Zheng seated upon the imperial throne. In the vast hall there was only Ying Zheng alone; Qin as it now was was no longer a Mortal Kingdom, there were only two court assemblies in a year—this too was the shift from mortal to Immortal.
"Disciple pays respects to the Heavenly Emperor, Your Majesty." Xuanzang entered the hall and bowed to Ying Zheng, his manner extremely respectful.
"Rise." Ying Zheng smiled faintly, his gaze gentle as he looked at Xuanzang, eyes holding a power that put one at ease.
"Thank you, Heavenly Emperor, Your Majesty."
Xuanzang voiced his thanks and lifted his head. Ying Zheng's features and countenance also entered Xuanzang's sight.
This was likewise the first time Xuanzang had seen the Qin Heavenly Emperor of legend.
Among the common folk, Ying Zheng and Zhao Feng had long since been truly deified.
Not deified merely for the strength of their Cultivation and might, but truly regarded as savior gods.
"The purpose of your coming this time—I already know." Ying Zheng spoke slowly, with solemn majesty.
"Your Majesty's Divine Skills are vast; this disciple is filled with admiration." Xuanzang replied respectfully, lowering his head a little to convey his reverence.
"Do you know why there are those who spoke of you going to the Western?" Ying Zheng smiled and asked in return, his eyes carrying a hint of inquiry, as though somewhat testing Xuanzang.
"This, disciple does not know." Xuanzang shook his head, his brows lightly furrowed, his face full of doubt.
Though that Ascetic Monk had appeared far too abruptly before, Xuanzang had not seen through him, nor had he seen through Guanyin's true form.
He thought perhaps it was mere coincidence, a chance occurrence.
Yet Xuanzang could sense one thing: it was as if, in the unseen, he was destined to make a journey to the Western, as though it were a mission he was born to bear.
This thought was not something Xuanzang had always held; it surged up in his heart only after that Ascetic Monk had spoken.
"The reason Heaven and Earth are tranquil as they are today—"
Ying Zheng slightly raised his head, his gaze deep, as though looking toward the boundless Void: "Qin has gone five hundred years without waging war abroad, without advancing westward in expansion."
"The fundamental reason is that the Great Tribulation has already begun." Ying Zheng spoke in a low tone.
"Great Tribulation?" Xuanzang looked at Ying Zheng in puzzlement, his eyes full of incomprehension—clearly, this was the first time he had heard this term.
"The Great Tribulation: as Heaven and Earth operate and evolve, after a certain number of years, when the Tribulation Qi between Heaven and Earth has accumulated to a certain degree, then, for the sake of order and stability, for the eternal existence of Heaven and Earth, Heaven and Earth will launch a Great Tribulation, thereby cleansing those in the world entangled in Karma, the many evildoers."
"At the same time, it restores to Heaven and Earth the exhausted Origin, the depleted nature's spiritual energy; only then can Heaven and Earth truly endure forever."
Ying Zheng explained slowly, his voice unhurried: "This time is yet another opening of a Great Tribulation."
"And you, Xuanzang, are the first initiator of this Great Tribulation."
Ying Zheng fixed his gaze on Xuanzang, eyes carrying profound meaning.
"Why is it this disciple?" Xuanzang asked in confusion, his eyes full of bewilderment.
"Many years ago, you were chosen by the Buddhist Sect." Ying Zheng's expression grew grave as he spoke in a deep voice: "This too is ordained by the Heavenly Dao—you are the Scripture Seeker."
"Scripture Seeker?"
Hearing these two words, "Scripture Seeking," Xuanzang was even more bewildered: "What scriptures are to be sought? Could it be that this Great Tribulation requires this disciple to go to the Western Ling Mountain to obtain scriptures?"
"But their so‑called Mahayana Buddhism is a law of enslavement—why should it be sought?"
"Qin's Buddhist Law is the way of all beings, whereas their Buddhist Law is the way of enslaving all beings—what use is there in taking such scriptures?"
Hearing Xuanzang's words.
Ying Zheng laughed.
Since the days when Jin Chanzi reincarnated in Qin, in every lifetime he had been steeped in Great Qin Buddhism, and naturally had awakened to the true path of universal salvation in Buddhism; when compared with it, Ling Mountain's Mahayana Buddhism was of course far inferior. Ask yourself: having been deeply immersed in Great Qin Buddhism, how could Xuanzang go to study Ling Mountain's Mahayana Buddhism?
Furthermore.
Even when he was still Jin Chanzi of old, though he had been thoroughly steeped in Ling Mountain's Buddhist Law, he was nonetheless transformed by Great Qin Buddhism; it is clear that his heart for Great Qin Buddhism had already taken root.
"Under the Great Tribulation, it was originally about seeking scriptures."
Ying Zheng looked calmly at Xuanzang and said slowly: "But the westward journey itself is the grand trend. The grand trend cannot be altered; the minor trend can."
"Thus your purpose in going west is not to seek scriptures, but to deliver scriptures and spread the Law."
"Do you understand, Xuanzang, what this means?" Ying Zheng smiled slightly, fixing his gaze on Xuanzang.
At these words.
Xuanzang suddenly saw the light.
"As Your Majesty has said—"
Understanding flashed through Xuanzang's eyes as he murmured: "This disciple understands."
"The so‑called grand trend of the Great Tribulation is to go to Western Heaven Ling Mountain, bring scriptures back to Qin. Yet in truth Western Buddhism is useless; Your Majesty wishes this disciple to carry Great Qin Buddhism into the Western, to let Great Qin Buddhism spread throughout Heaven and Earth."
"Thus, the minor trend within the Great Tribulation is altered."
Xuanzang had grasped it completely.
And this.
Had in fact been his original thought.
Upon hearing that the Western too was replete with Ling Mountain's Mahayana Buddhism, Xuanzang had already conceived the intention of going west to transmit the Buddhism that belonged to Qin; in so doing he could save the world, save all beings.
"Correct."
Ying Zheng's face was wreathed in smiles; he was very satisfied.
"Your Majesty is granting permission for this disciple to go to the Western to spread the Law?" Xuanzang pressed his palms together, looking at Ying Zheng with expectation.
"I shall not only grant you leave to go, but also bestow upon you a Qin name, that you may represent Qin in going to the Western to spread the Law."
"From this day forth—"
"You shall be Qin Xuanzang, bearing Qin's national name, and furthermore a Qin Monk, representing the lineage of Qin's Buddhist Law."
"As you journey west and preach the Law along the way, that is the mission I entrust to you, and the heavy responsibility laid upon you by Great Qin Buddhism and by all living beings."
"Xuanzang."
"Are you willing to accept this charge?"
Ying Zheng gazed at Xuanzang and asked in a voice of authority.
To this.
Xuanzang did not hesitate at all; he directly knelt before Ying Zheng.
"Disciple Xuanzang is willing to accept this heavy responsibility."
"Buddhist Law is boundless; its task is to save the world. The Western, steeped in an enslavement‑driven Buddhism, must be transformed by Great Qin Buddhism."
"As a disciple of the Buddhist Sect, as a Daqin Buddhist Practitioner, it is only right that I shoulder this duty." Xuanzang spoke with utmost seriousness, his expression incomparably resolute.
At this moment.
Having obtained Ying Zheng's permission, Xuanzang's heart was filled all the more with fighting spirit; he felt a powerful urge to spread Great Qin Buddhism throughout the entire Western, even across all Heaven and Earth.
This was where his duty lay.
Perhaps it was also the very meaning of his Cultivation of Buddhist Law.
"Good."
Seeing Xuanzang so steadfast, Ying Zheng too smiled in gratification.
"The arrangements Feng'er laid out years in advance were indeed correct."
"Jin Chanzi, this Scripture Seeker, has been completely turned to Qin's service, and wholly steeped in Great Qin Buddhism." Ying Zheng mused inwardly, deeply pleased.
As one of the principal figures presiding over the Great Tribulation, so long as he could control Jin Chanzi and Sun Wukong, this Great Tribulation would already be more than half under Qin's dominion.
"This westward journey—"
"Will not be without peril."
"On the Nan Zhanbu Continent, the living beings outnumber those upon our Eastern Continent several times over; it is the Continent with the greatest multitude of beings under Heaven, and also the one with the most contention, the most Chaos."
"On that Continent, there is no law, no order; all is the law of the jungle. Though you have Buddhist Law to rely upon, you ultimately have no Cultivation—you must understand the dangers of this journey." Ying Zheng again spoke in a deep voice, with a note of consideration.
