Living In Another World With A Farm Chapter 8332: On the island (1)

Du Wan Sha rapidly consolidated islands in the West and Northwest Seas, merging nearly 3000 islands into 1000 larger ones, to be overseen by former Island Lords and new assignments. Zhao Hai was uniquely granted control over a new independent island, Blood Gale Island, with significant freedom but no initial manpower. Lei Gang and the others also moved to Blood Gale Island, and Zhao Hai was tasked with repairing its defensive formation. He also discussed his progress with metal puppets and an interest in discarded magical artifacts.

"I have formulated a plan," Zhao Hai announced in a solemn tone. "My intention is to gather all the discarded weaponry and re-forge them. Even if we are unable to isolate the original materials, the resulting blend will function as an alloy of considerable durability. We can utilize these resources to construct metal puppets. While they don't need to be high-quality, they will serve effectively as cannon fodder, allowing us to preserve a significant amount of resources. What is your opinion, Master?"

Lei Gang was momentarily taken aback by Zhao Hai’s proposal. After a brief period of contemplation, he replied deeply, "That is a sound strategy. I will inform the Sect that we have a specialized department for handling such matters. I'll arrange for the Sect's personnel to organize these items and have them delivered to you."

"I understand, thank you, Master. Are there any further instructions?" Zhao Hai nodded. "If you have no other orders, I intend to visit Blood Gale Island to survey the area. If all is well, I will begin restoring the island's defensive formations."

Lei Gang spoke in a low voice, "I have no further tasks for you here. You may proceed with your duties. It so happens that your Third Uncle-Master is scheduled to depart for Blood Wind Island shortly. Once your current tasks are finished, go straight to Blood Wind Island and coordinate with him." Zhao Hai signaled his understanding with a "Yes," bowed respectfully, and then gradually withdrew from the room.

Following Zhao Hai’s exit, Lei Gang looked toward Lei Xuan and instructed, "Third Brother, head to Blood Wind Island immediately to oversee the inhabitants. Wait there for Little Hai’s arrival. Since Little Hai will be repairing the magic formations on your island this time, you must observe his work closely. If his results are satisfactory, task him with restoring the formations on the other islands as well. It would be ideal to provide him with some Dark Souls to integrate into those magic formations. Doing so will significantly bolster the island's defenses."

After Lei Xuan acknowledged the order, Lei Gang continued gravely, "You must remain vigilant. Our list of adversaries is growing, particularly regarding the Western and Northwest seas. Those regions have endured severe casualties and are prone to becoming war zones. Therefore, our priority must be the installation of the island's defensive arrays. With those in place, even during an ambush, we can utilize the array to hold out. At the very least, it will grant us the necessary time to retreat."

Lei Xuan nodded and rose to depart. He fully grasped the weight of Lei Gang’s words. Although the Bloody Massacre Sect had taken a massive hit due to the treachery of Bai Xin, their foundational power remained intact. They still ranked among the top ten Sects. Even if they were currently less dominant than their peers, they remained vastly superior to lesser organizations.

Given the circumstances, any party daring to launch an attack would have to be thoroughly prepared. The attackers would undoubtedly be formidable. In such a scenario, a brutal conflict was inevitable, and it was common for experts at the Island Lord level to perish. Lei Gang was determined to ensure Lei Xuan’s safety. The three brothers had climbed to their current heights together and wished to remain that way. To prevent any tragedies along the path, he insisted on total preparation.

Meanwhile, Zhao Hai reached the Main Killing Courtyard belonging to Shen Nanzheng. Upon hearing of Zhao Hai’s arrival, Shen Nanzheng promptly invited him inside. Once they were seated, Shen Nanzheng looked at Zhao Hai with a touch of jealousy and remarked, "You’ve done well, kid. The rewards you’ve earned this time are truly staggering—unprecedented, really. In the entire history of the Blood Sea Realm, there has never been a disciple in the profound Qi realm who attained the status of Island Lord. You are the pioneer, and I suspect you will be the only one for a long time. It’s incredible; I truly envy you."

Zhao Hai let out a bitter chuckle. "You envy me? I’m actually at a loss. They handed me an entire island and put me in charge of everything. While I’ll receive annual supplies, I have to recruit my own people. I’m honestly unsure of how to proceed. Regardless, since the territory is mine, I must manage it. I’ve come today to bid you farewell, Senior Brother. I must depart for Blood Gale Island. No matter its state, it is my domain now. You must visit me in the future."

Shen Nanzheng laughed loudly. "Don't you worry, I’ll certainly come by. Truthfully, I’m quite curious to see what your Blood Gale Island looks like. Keep in mind, if you require assistance, just ask. Regardless of your new title, you are still a member of Blood Drop Island. If it is within our power to help, we will. We are family." Shen Nanzheng’s words were sincere. While he was envious, he recognized the hardships of governing an island. Furthermore, he was keen on strengthening his bond with Zhao Hai. Regardless of how Blood Gale Island fared, Zhao Hai was now an Island Lord. Maintaining a positive relationship with him would prove highly advantageous in the future.

"I will," Zhao Hai answered. He stood up to say his goodbyes to the rest of the group before returning to his cave. After gathering his belongings, he headed to the teleportation formation. In a burst of white light, he was transported directly to Blood Gale Island. He traveled alone, bringing no one from Blood Drop Island, as he had his own specific arrangements in mind.

When the white light faded, Zhao Hai found himself on a ruined island. The place was in a state of total decay, with crumbling walls scattered everywhere. While no bodies remained, the island was scarred beyond recognition. Nevertheless, the landmass was quite expansive. Though it didn't match the scale of Blood Drop Island, it was roughly half its size, indicating that the previous Island Lord had been quite influential. Unfortunately, that person was gone, and the land now belonged to Zhao Hai.

Zhao Hai surveyed the surroundings. There wasn't much to behold; the original structures were demolished, and almost everything of value had been looted. Nothing remained.

Zhao Hai, however, remained unfazed. He moved toward a different teleportation array on the island, distinct from the one he had arrived on. This array was massive. As Zhao Hai stepped onto it, he vanished in another flash of light, reappearing moments later in a subterranean chamber.

This was a vast underground cavern. The air was dry, and the walls were lined with numerous small cave abodes. A magical formation fixed to the ceiling emitted a soft radiance that lit the area. Zhao Hai observed many individuals moving in and out of their dwellings.

These people appeared to be ordinary mortals. Zhao Hai could detect almost no supernatural fluctuations from them. He recognized them as believers. This was the hidden living space for the believers of Blood Gale Island. These believers were born into this life and had few responsibilities. They were provided with fasting pills to sustain them without food and were given basic clothing, but they possessed nothing else.

The area was overseen by managers who were also believers. Their duties were straightforward: they had to ensure that every person spent at least eight hours a day in prayer, directed toward the Island Lord. Statues of the Island Lord were placed in every room for this purpose.

In the center of this subterranean world was a large plaza containing a massive stone monument. Carved into the stone were instructions and diagrams for a basic Cultivation method provided by the Bloody Massacre Sect. If any of these people could successfully use this method to reach the Dharma reserves realm, they could transcend their status as believers and become men of sacrifice. Their families would also be granted freedom from their believer status.

The managers here didn't have much to govern. Their primary role was monitoring the prayer sessions. If someone reached the Dharma Cultivation level, the manager would report it to the Sect so the individual could be promoted to a death warrior. The managers received rewards for these discoveries. If a manager themselves reached that level of Cultivation, they could also become a death warrior and be replaced by a new manager.

Since the Sect handled the distribution of clothes and fasting pills, as well as the production of the Island Lord statues, Zhao Hai had no logistical burdens regarding them. Although these loyal slaves lived here and provided Zhao Hai with the power of belief, he wasn't required to manage their daily lives. While he could choose to intervene, the rules dictated that these faithful slaves could not leave this underground space unless they reached the profound Dharma realm—even the Island Lord could not change this.

Upon Zhao Hai’s arrival, the faithful slaves immediately dropped to their knees, hailing him as the Island Lord. They didn't even dare to look him in the eye. Zhao Hai remained indifferent; this was the long-standing tradition of the Blood Sea Realm. He had no desire to overturn the system, so he simply focused on assessing the number of slaves under his command.

Shortly after, an elderly man approached and knelt before him. "This old servant welcomes the Lord Island Lord. I am one of the managers here. Does the Lord have any commands for me?" Having just learned of Zhao Hai’s presence, the old man had rushed over to show his respect.

Zhao Hai waved him off. "It is nothing. I am merely here to observe. You may leave." The old man complied, rising and bowing as he retreated. Zhao Hai continued his inspection, confirming that the Sect had assigned him roughly 10,000 slaves. Among them were ten managers, while the rest were common laborers. Satisfied with this knowledge, Zhao Hai left the slave quarters and returned to the surface. He had no intention of bringing the slaves up to work; they lacked talent, and even with Cultivation, they wouldn't achieve much. Moreover, since he was only at the essence Cultivation realm, he felt it best to follow Sect regulations and not overstep his authority.
