The battle for Carmel raged, with angelic forces initially overwhelming the Elven Empire. Following a massive explosion and a mysterious rain, the elves rallied. Amidst the aftermath, a boy named Walson infiltrated the Heavenly Ladder tower. He bypassed its magical defenses and bypassed its gravity-defying, elemental guardians using a transmutation barrier and a pickaxe. He reached a platform and attempted to teleport, but was interrupted by Grace and two other women.
