Let Me Game in Peace Chapter 1904 - Epilogue
Previously on Let Me Game in Peace...
Two young girls were frolicking on the lawn when a pristine white antelope sauntered by, instantly brightening their eyes.
The antelope looked strikingly handsome. Its snowy fur felt plush and soft like a stuffed toy. Unlike typical antelopes, it showed no bald patches.
The pair of girls rushed up, eager to offer the antelope some fresh grass.
Tame and gentle, the antelope dipped its head and nibbled slowly at the grass one little girl held out, filling the girls with even greater joy. They extended their small hands to caress its fur, and it appeared completely at ease.
!!
“You’re actually munching on grass. Show some dignity, alright?” A man approached and eyed the antelope.
The girls got startled, assuming the antelope was his pet. They quickly said sorry to the man for petting it.
The man grinned and gave the girls some sweets, directing them to go play somewhere else.
“Dignity? Can you eat that?” The antelope transformed abruptly into a refined nobleman clad in a white fur coat. It spat out the grass from its mouth and remarked dismissively, “Anyway, Zhou Lingfeng, next to you, I’d say my dignity is flawless.”
“Why aren’t you relaxing on Mount Laojun? What brings you here?” Zhou Lingfeng scanned the antelope, astonished. “Are your wounds better now?”
“Race Artifacts have returned to Earth. Essence Energy and all sorts of nomological powers abound here endlessly. In a place like this, how could I fail to heal? If not, I wouldn’t have lasted this long.” The antelope grinned. “All credit to your fine son. Without him, those injuries would’ve finished me off.”
“Who told you to court disaster? You’re obviously the defeated one, yet you insisted on forcing that door open,” Zhou Lingfeng scoffed with a lip curl.
“You’re the defeated one. Your whole family are defeated ones. Without your prodding, would I have ever left Mount Laojun?” The antelope bristled in anger.
“How did I prod you? Did I shove or drag you? You were the one itching to get out,” Zhou Lingfeng replied with a shrug.
“Hmph, without you describing how wonderful the outside world was, would I have touched that cursed door?” The antelope snorted coldly.
“Everything I said was the truth. Not a lie in sight.” Zhou Lingfeng smiled.
“Who can tell if it’s true or not. I never even made it out.” The antelope fixed its gaze on Zhou Lingfeng. “You can’t go back, but your son’s success counts as granting your wish.”
“Who knows if it’s fortune or doom. I just wanted him living out his days here in peace. Never thought he’d climb so high. That wasn’t my plan.” Zhou Lingfeng let out a sigh.
“Why fret? He’s your boy. He came from that realm originally,” the antelope remarked.
“It’s far more complicated than that. I was merely a captive robbed of all I had. I don’t count as part of that realm anymore. Plus, half his blood is Earth’s. He’s got no real ties there.” Zhou Lingfeng paused, frowning. “So why are you here?”
“I want to leave. Came to see if you’ve got any other tricks up your sleeve?” the antelope said with
narrowed eyes.
“Sure, craft your own Cosmic coin and unlock
the door,” Zhou Lingfeng quipped with a smile.
“I wouldn’t bother you if I knew how.” The antelope rolled its eyes. “You hail from that realm. No other ways? Some loophole maybe?”
“Before imprisonment, sending you off would’ve been easy for
me. Now, I’m powerless. But you could seek out fellow exiles. They might know something,” Zhou Lingfeng suggested.
“Seek them? Why ask you if I could? I lingered on Mount Laojun for millennia without spotting Laozi. Dead or gone back, who knows. You’re the sole prisoner in ages. Who else?” The antelope swore, its noble air clashing wildly with the outburst.
“Nothing I can do then. I’ve only been stuck here decades. If you can’t locate one, neither can I. Plus, last time we snatched Truth Listener from the Four Dimitrios Monkeys to crack the door, we almost unleashed dimensional zones too soon. Truth Listener drained its core essence, reverting to
its primal form. Had you not sneaked Small Buddha Temple’s Companion Egg for its recovery, you’d be toast.” Zhou Lingfeng pondered before adding, “With Truth
Listener gone and the female prisoner’s Cosmic coin spent, your only shot out is forging your own.”
“Both prisoners, yet she got star treatment? You crashed like a mutt. She arrived by ship, Cosmic coin in tow. Huge gap. Got a powerful patron in your realm? While you’re just a nobody.” The antelope snickered.
“No clue on patrons, but that ship
and coin weren’t hers. Meant for her kid. She was jailed, kid wasn’t. Hence the ship and coin—for the child’s future use. Still, something’s off. Pregnant exiles shouldn’t happen here. Yet she was sent, memories altered, hauling otherworldly items. Suspicious,” Zhou Lingfeng explained.
“You boasted of your past glory
in that realm. Never heard of the Lost Immortal Sutra?” the antelope probed.
“Nope, dead certain no Lost Immortal Sutra among famed arts there,” Zhou Lingfeng affirmed.
“Maybe your memories got fiddled too?” the antelope suggested slyly.
Zhou Lingfeng’s face shifted faintly. “Not impossible, but odds are slim.”
“Slim chance is still a chance, eh?” The antelope smirked. “Never mind. Pointless now.
Let’s figure a Cosmic coin. How to snag one?”
“Step one: hunt a Cosmic lifeform, refine it into
a coin,” Zhou Lingfeng stated gravely.
“How?” The antelope scowled.
“Beats me. Can’t do it myself.”
Zhou Lingfeng opened his palms. “Over there, special sites convert Cosmic lifeforms to coins. This ain’t there, no such spot. No idea on method. Legends speak of those who can, but
no one’s witnessed it.”
“Quit stalling. Might as well return to await Laozi.” The antelope scowled and spun away.
“Savor life here. Outside’s not the paradise you imagined,” Zhou Lingfeng called after it.
“Bullshit, that’s not your pitch decades back when you lured me.” The antelope flipped him off without glancing back.
Zhou Lingfeng chuckled. “Back then, escape burned in me. Now,
staying put seems decent.”
“Piss off.” The antelope vanished ahead.
Zhou Lingfeng stared where it went for moments, then looked away. He murmured, “Hope the Lost Immortal Sutra isn’t truly hers. Or Little Wen’s in deep shit.”
