The Xia family hosted Xia Chunyu's birthday banquet at First Class Residential, receiving gifts from heirs Ji Huaizhi and Yang Wei. However, both heirs headed to Qiao Xi's event at Hua Xia Hotel instead. Huo Yuzhou arrived expecting Qiao Xi, rebuked Yin Lianyi for favoring the adopted daughter, and departed, leaving the hall in tense silence as the banquet proceeded awkwardly.

Witnessing this sight, various thoughts raced through everyone's minds. With Miss Qiao managing to invite Huo Yuzhou to the event, skipping it would surely anger Huo Yuzhou. Yet attending meant crossing Old Madam Xia. Had they foreseen this, they would've cooked up a reason to skip it altogether.

In the latter part of the banquet, discomfort hung over the attendees. Across from First Class Residential, Hua Xia Hotel buzzed with excitement. Ji Huaizhi's unexpected appearance stunned the crowd, though Qiao Xi's calm face indicated she had anticipated it.

The stir from Ji Huaizhi's entrance hadn't died down when news arrived that Yang Wei had shown up. As heir to the Yang family, his presence meant two of the four great families were now represented, leaving just the Huo family outstanding.

Shortly after, Huo Yuzhou arrived too, drawing gasps of astonishment from all those gathered.

Meanwhile, Xia Jingan approached Qiao Xi and whispered gently, "They're all here. Why hasn't the banquet kicked off yet?"

Qiao Xi replied smilingly, "The Situ family hasn't arrived!"

"Truth is, I've suspected for ages that I'm connected to the Situ family. My visit to the capital is common knowledge. The Situ family would've heard about it long ago. Now that I'm here, they have no excuse not to show."

Xia Jingan let out a soft sigh. His sister was truly not to be trifled with!

Though the Situ family had fallen from grace, they remained a prestigious clan in the capital. Their influence might pale against the four dominant families, but none dared challenge them. Qiao Xi wondered what hidden strength the Situ family possessed that intimidated even those powerhouses.

Midway through the festivities, a sleek, understated luxury vehicle pulled up outside Hua Xia Hotel. The visitor simply dropped off the gift and departed swiftly.

Qiao Xi unpacked the gift box, revealing a delicate rose brooch. Even without a name attached, she knew instantly it came from the Situ family.

Gu Zheng, standing close by, drew her into his embrace and planted a tender kiss on her forehead.

Qiao Xi gazed blankly at the rose brooch before pinning it to her chest.

"Consider it carefully. Donning it declares you part of the Situ family, bound to share their fate in life and death." Gu Zheng's deep voice murmured intimately into her ear.

Qiao Xi nodded firmly, without a trace of doubt. "I need to uncover every detail about my mother. I must reveal the truth from those days. Having chosen to venture into the capital, avoiding trouble is out of the question. We can't just let the Situ family massacre fade into oblivion."

"Alright," Gu Zheng responded gently, his tone brimming with resolve. "With the Situ family's stance now clear, the patriarchs of the Ji, Yang, and Huo families are bound to appear soon. You'll soon make waves across the capital. Fear not—I'll stand by your side."

Qiao Xi wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her ear on his chest to hear the powerful thump of his heart and steady breaths. A profound sense of security washed over her.

Thirty minutes passed, and several opulent cars smoothly entered Hua Xia Hotel's parking area.

Meanwhile, back in First Class Residential's banquet hall.

Following the recent embarrassment, Xia Chunyu managed only a strained smile. The socialites held their tongues, but sneers danced in their eyes.

Just then, a waiter wheeled in the cake. Spotlights bathed Xia Chunyu, making the diamond crown atop her head sparkle brilliantly. She beamed. "Grandma, time to cut the cake!"

Yin Lianyi smiled and nodded. "Chunyu, happy birthday. You'll always be…"

Her words were cut short by a sudden cry of surprise. Yin Lianyi's face soured at the interruption, prompting the speaker to clamp their mouth shut.

Yet in the very next instant, another guest shot to their feet. "No way!"

Yin Lianyi's face grew stormy. Before she could retort, several others rose. "Old Madam Xia, Miss Xia, apologies. An urgent matter has come up—I must depart immediately."

The individual bolted from the hall without delay. Immediately after, the standing guests each muttered excuses and fled.

Xia Chunyu's complexion drained of color as she forced a grin. "Let's proceed with cutting the cake."

Her words barely landed when more attendees stood. "Forgive me, Old Madam Xia. A pressing company issue demands my attention. I'll excuse myself now."

Soon, half the crowd had vanished. Yin Lianyi's features flushed and paled in rapid succession.

Right then, a voice rang out in outrage, "Miss Xia, dashing off before the cake's even sliced— isn't this a blatant slight against Miss Xia?"

"That's right! If they offend the Xia family, they'll suffer!"

Right after those words left their mouths, notifications buzzed on their phones. They glanced downward, and their faces drained of color in an instant. "Check your phones! No wonder they fled so fast earlier!"

Chaos erupted throughout the banquet hall immediately. A voice bellowed, "Let's rush over to Hua Xia Hotel right now! The patriarchs of the three major families are all gathered there!"
